Got my Informeter today ;) , now I just have to wait 'till Christmas

Surely you need to test it, you know - make sure it works... The financial controller wouldnt want to give you a broken christmas present, would she? :ermm:

Yep Dunc, got to unbox it in the morning and give it a quick test, but she made a point of teasing me about it this morning.

Man, this is a cool piece of kit!

Sadly mine is back in the box 'till Christmas day...

I see what you mean about the owners manual; hardly any details in English. What functions are people displaying with these? I have a few things I want to see, but the options are endless...

I've got a query about how accurate the fuel consumption readings are, mine seems to be indicating I'm averaging ~10.2km/L (~9.8L per 100km) which seems a bit too economical? Anyone with a leaf screen or long time user have any insight?

Perhaps I've been more conservative this past week, I only had a quarter tank (according to the fuel gauge) when I put it on so I've got no way of determining if its right or not. Need to top it up to full and do a comparison!

that sucks!

my mrs did that when she bought me a XBOX360 for my 30th birthday. she got it over a month before too!

Nah, it's cool, I was the one who put the condition on its purchase, so it's my own silly fault.

Now I've got something to use as an excuse to hide in the garage and drink beer, while the outlaws drive my missus mad.

Then we'll see who's teasing who (or who's getting belted with a cooked the sphincter of the universe).

It's a big job to look that far into the future...

the sphincter of the universe :D ....that is funny you broad minded person!

BTW....nothing wrong with hiding in the garage to drink beer :bunny: .....that's where I came up with the "6 Pack Holiday"

Six pack holiday; classic!

Hey Andy. Got mine today. Looks trick (in the box). If you were an FleaBay merchant you'd have a AAAAAA++++++ rating for the fast shipping :)

Thanks heaps.

Hi Andy

I have a quick question. Today we played with settings on the InfoMeter and found there are 2 things it can't display on my Stagea. Speed and gear position. Both these display on our Micra. I don't really care about gear position but speed could be needed later (for cruise control perhaps).

I'm a bit surprised since all the other data is picked up from the CAN bus, so why would it not get these two?

Can you confirm that both work on your car?

Thanks, Leon.

It should, mine displays both speed and gear as I remember. (although the gear is only approximate I think, worked out off the speed?)

I agree with what scott :) said..

Sounds like someone has been playing with your wiring prior to you getting the car.

Yep, you'd be right about that! And I reckon Scott's right about the gear numbering being calculated, probably from speed. When I hooked it up to the Micra and had it in Drive but stationary, gear displayed 0. As soon as we rolled forward it displayed 1.

It only stands to reason that if the speed sensor wiring has been changed somewhere, and therefore doesn't output to the InfoMeter, then the gear selection part wouldn't display also.

I wonder if that was messed about when the headunit/GPS was installed? One thing I do know, I'm getting a bad back & neck from having it stuck up under that dash of mine. Oh, and the footwell smells distinctly like feet :D

Iain, that's pretty cool that it told you about the faulty O2 sensor. I haven't seen where it is on the M35; hope it's easy to get at.

Thank guys, I appreciate the advice & I'm sure I'll track it down eventually.

same thing happened to mine, although it was reading about 30 k's out, didnt make much of a difference i didnt need it, but i reset all the gear positioning n it became better?

dont ask me if it made any difference, but it was the only thing i did different!

and jus wondering, are you changing the settings completely when you swap between cars?

You can change the speed variance in settings. So my informeter now tells memthe correct speed unlike my dash which is out due to wheels.

Also everyone with informeters post your best PS and what your average IN temp and water temp is. Mine both seem high. Water likes at 84 and IN 30-34 is where it normally sits. Rained today so was at 27-30.

PS will depend on weight input. Mine is set to 1800kg. It will only be accurate on flat ground too.

Water around 89

PS 545

    • I'm so far behind in the jobs I have to do at both work and home (including car) that I have become immortal. There's simply no way that I can die now.
    • Each to their own I guess  Me, I put just as much time into cleaning inside of the cars as I do on the outside As for getting wet, it is really no different than steam cleaning the carpets at home, apart from the cars carpet dries alot faster than the house, again, I only do it in the hotter months and leave the car opened up for a few hours As I only do it yearly, it is just before I do the diff and gearbox service, so I clean the carpets, then it's up on stands, wheels off, service, clean the undercarriage,  grease the bushings and do a nut and bolt check on everything  Disclaimer: I typically had all the time in the world to kill when I was working 🤣, so spending a full day or 2 cleaning, serving and "looking at stuff" was,  easily achievable, and a fun mental therapy day As for time to kill, I retired last Wednesday, so apart from my physical training, my days are filled with lots of random jobs around the house and garden...."Idle hands are the Devils something something" I am also buying a new house sooner rather than later, I'm actually looking at a potential property tomorrow, I'm looking forward to getting a car hoist as I'm starting to get to old to crawl around under a car, I can only imagine all the undercarriage cleaning and looking at stuff when that gets set up
    • Yeah, I'm not interested in wetting the carpets, and I don't care about brown dirt/dust that lives deep in the pile or underneath. It's not like I crawl around on them in my birthday suit or eat dropped food off them (because there is never any open food in my car). The seats are alcantara (cheap Chinese imitation alcantara, to be sure!) with barely 1" of foam pad behind the surface. That's not getting wet either. Any car that I would be happy to get the interior wet, I would not care to put the effort into.
    • We have one that holds 2.8L of water. On floor carpet that hasn't been touched in 2 or 3 years, will take a minimum of 2 fills of the tank to do a bedroom, and that's going AROUND the bed.   In the cruiser, I used an ENTIRE 2.8L tank, just on the front passenger footwell. But it had some fungus growing, and had been full of mud from being used as a 4WD for many years. I can do that floor again, and it will still pull mud out. However, the water now only looks dirty, not pitch black and leaving full sludge in the bottom of the tank it sucks back into. Oh, and, this is about a $1500 unit.
    • This is mine, works a treat for the cars, suction is good, I use the Bissell clean and protect stuff I have found giving it a good spray and light scrub with the soft brush on the head of the nossle for carpet, and a rub with a microfibre for cloth seats and cloth door trims, prior to another quick spray before vacuuming it up works the best @GTSBoy You would surprised on what it gets out of carpet and seats that actually "look" clean, I recommend that you test drive yours when you have a little time to kill, then post pics of the muddy looking water that I believe you will find
