Chasing a new clutch for my 34 which I will be converting to manual soon using 33 stuff, now how do people rate the xtreme clutches, either organic, HD or those sprung button centres?

I am aiming for around 230rwkw and will be taking it to the track every now and then and well streeting it 95% of the time. The guy at Xtremes told me either go organic which will be great street use, would hold 230rwkw no worries but taking it to the track and clutch kicks will obviously shorten its life span......or go a puck style, still ok for the street and bulletproof on the track.

Reason I am chasing one of these clutches is that I bought one for my rotor last year and I was going to return it and swap it for something to suit me. I priced an Exedy HD clutch and that was about $200 more than an extreme one but the guy said it might have a slightly higher clamping load

I have also heard there are extremely harsh on drive lines

So from peoples use of these.......Stay away from these or go buy one?

Thanks

Giulian

Hey Guilian,

I have been using an Xtreme Cushioned Button Clutch, with matching lightened flywheel for the past 3-4 years. I can't fault it - it's fine for street driving (only a little heavier than stock) and has held up my 250 rwkw without a problem. My wife also has no drama's driving with it, so I'd definitely recommend going with one.

i killed my xtreme 9 puck in 1 year. destroyed the pressure plate and flywheel but the pressure plate was ok. ended up putting in a NPC clutch which has been great but i think i would go the exedy clutch next. spend the extra 200 and be safe. my opinion only.

Im did this to an exedy cushioned button:

It held the power fine just rolling on etc, but I took it to the drags once, and with some heavy launches, I munched it. (340rwhp)

For that reason, I have gone an Exedy 5 puck Button this time. Fingers crossed it takes to launching and clutch kicks abit better :D

I've been told by a reputable workshop on the gold coast that exedy don't make clutches to the same standards that they used to and that you should seriously consider buying a Jim Berry clutch if you don't want disappointments down the road.

I've had an x-treme organic single plate in my car for almost a year now, it's had a lot of abuse and is starting to show signs of wear. My clutch now was only ever suppose to be a heavy duty replacement, not designed for the more than double the standard power that my car makes, it still holds up well. I'd reccomend them I guess, not 100% satisfied but that's just my poor selection of clutch (I.e. Wrong application)

    • Haha, i kow right? Could have bought so many cars for the same amount of money (or less) but driving Unicorn gives you at least +1mln to style 😅. Like wise man said "life's to short to drink cheap wine and drive boring cars" 😉
    • Newbie here, proud owner of an Autech 260RS. I'm on the hunt for wiring diagrams specific to the 260RS, particularly S1. I've ran my eyes through R33, R34 Diagrams, there are some similarities, however continue to find incorrect wire colours and pins on connectors in the 33,34 diagrams.   I was hoping someone could point me in the right direction? I'd be happy to pay for the originals in Japanese. I can translate them, at least they would be accurate.   Any help please would be greatly appreciated, never heard an RB26DETT before let alone driven one, and I've got a spaghetti monster of goodness to sort out.   Cheers Benny
    • Hey all  im wondering if you can help me please I have put a rb20 box in my r34 gtt as my auto packed up and a friend had a spare box I know it’s not ideal but it will get me up and running for now. we have done the conversation and everything is working great but my Speedo we got a s13 speed sensor but my Speedo reads double now and I bought a speed converter but still not having any luck.  so I thought I’ll reach out and pick your brains  any help would be appreciated please as I wanna drive my car again
    • Drain it. I got official Matic D but you can get whatever is listed as Matic D compatible.
    • Thanks guys,  Yeah I should at least have them dynoed, at least then I know what I've got as a starting point.  The springs on these are hard as rocks. I vaguely remember Russman saying he was going to sell the shocks to me with the rocks fitted, as he was keeping the softer springs for his new setup.  I didn't click at the time but of course that was to let me know the shock/spring wouldn't be matched.  I also remember pricing up new springs around 2014-15, but, house, money etc. it never happened. So that was another reason to have them rebuilt. I have rebuilt the forks on many motorcycles so I think I could handle the seals on these easily enough, but getting the valving right would be a rabbit hole I cbf exploring.  Duncan, interesting to hear RP was tuning these back then. I might give them a call.  In the mean time I have been busy fitting sway bars. The Whiteline rear sway bar I purchased 15 years ago finally got fitted, along with the Whiteline front bar that showed up last week. Just waiting on new links for the front sway bar to finish that off.  And my spare set of advan AVS VS5's should be back from the powder coaters in a Pearl White finish sometime this week, with a set of Hankook RS4's lined up for fitting.  And then I just have all the suspension bushes to do. A comprehensive kit is on the way... Lots to do before the Ararat hill climb. Cheers guys 🍻
