ive had 2 yellow stickers in 3 weeks! the first time was by rta when they had that big thing on the freeway a few weeks back and then just the other day a cop decided he needed to hit the brakes on a main road, treck over the medium strip (concrete thing with bark and bush that devides the lanes) and pull me up for rbt ! i ripped into him about it but ah well. im gonna take it to get engineered in about 3 months from next week when i get my licence back..

And don't whinge or call cops names when they do there job and bust you for illegal mods.

Dont want trouble, then leave your ride stock, otherwise- to bad so sad

what does ur car run mate.

yeh thats correct. My missus was getting insurance quotes for her stagea and a few mobs would not insure it with one fitted.

turbo timers are illegal if you leave the car un-attended while its running

Turbo timers themselves are not illegal. It is the intent to use it for what it's designed purpose is (leaving the car running while unattended) that is illegal.

So you can get done for leaving your car unattended while running, as you also can get done for having a turbo timer due to the intent to use it.

Seriously there is a not a set of rules of what is illegal and legal

I got my car checked by the cops

Problems

-Box for Cold intake

-Turbo timer

-Blue corner lights (only got done for it)

-Fuel regulator (no connected)

No problem with

-Front inter cooler

-Full exhaust

He did not see the boost controller (Problem?)

lol it looked sexy as... i lub :D

yeah I'm with alex on this one.. the cops did a huge favour in rectifying the image you portray of yourself, and also the general public in reducing burnt retinas.

Hi Guys,

its been a while since i got back on the forum.

My pride got defected approx a month ago.

I was just returning from work...no speeding nothin.

This low life nothing to do f*k*in cop decided to do a random breath test ( obviously to check my car )

Anyways..this f*ker didnt give me any warning at all....he layed out three fines for defects..

i didnt show any attitude ..but that as**hole didnt show any remorse.

This guys got nothing better to do i say...but to book people like us..

but this was only the beginning....Im not sure how many of you have heard of the DECC.

yes...i was given 14 days to clear my defect...had to run like a dog to get it done since i work from 9-5

Got that passed ..luckily...then i had to get a Noise, pod filter check etc etc,

I think there only a few DECC inspection stations...the closest to me was in granville..

Old real grumpy old man...did not try and help me..

didnt pass me...i had to changed my exhaust, my cat convertor to standard, my Filter to box... ( and not forgetting to put a snorkle on it as well ), my boost controller had to go as well...what shits me the most is...there are cars out there pissin smoke and dust...and bikes and cars with real loud noise...90db is fk all...which is the standard limit...

If they say 90DB is the legal limit ...then how does that justify cars and bikes that are louder.

whats your guys opinion to shit like this ?...Had to take this off my chest...all this has cost me 2000 plus.

Guys...u dont wana get defected for rubbish like this...but i will get my car back on road..

what use is a RB20Det without its parts...my car is back to stock standard now..but ive lost most of my hair from my head...

Isnt there anything we can do ?

I'm sure you're not an arsehole though

On the engineer side of things, i have my FMIC and exaust done also have my pod in a box. i must say, it gives me great pleasure when i see mr po po read it, the look on there faces is priceless, i had one spend atleast 30min on my car in te hope to find something lol. i'm lucky my car was engineered when i bought it, but i would pay the money if it's wasn't, it does work. But the best thing you can do, is not be a co ck head don't drift, speed or race etc the police will know that you are not a rev head (by this i mean where you live). ive had my car for a yr, got pulled over 4 time within 2 weeks, booked once for "apparently" not stopping at a stop line lol. But once they realised my car was engineered have not been check since.

Money well spent i say

My two coin

A police officer just needs to believe things are illegal and he sends you for an inspection with a list of specific things to check, it is then upto the blueslipper and engineer to pick up on other illegal items.

don't you be picking on the yellow cars!!!!

don't you be picking on the yellow cars!!!!

I'm not gonna pick on a certain yellow car which has had the pleasure of my naked body brushing up against its upholstery. So you're safe ;)

    • Hi, is the HKS  Tower Bar still available ? negotiable ? 🤔
    • From there, it is really just test and assemble. Plug the adapter cables from the unit into the back of the screen, then the other side to the car harness. Don't forget all the other plugs too! Run the cables behind the unit and screw it back into place (4 screws) and you should now have 3 cables to run from the top screen to the android unit. I ran them along the DS of the other AV units in the gap between their backets and the console, and used some corrugated tubing on the sharp edges of the bracket so the wires were safe. Plug the centre console and lower screen in temporarily and turn the car to ACC, the AV should fire up as normal. Hold the back button for 3 sec and Android should appear on the top screen. You need to set the input to Aux for audio (more on that later). I put the unit under the AC duct in the centre console, with the wifi antenna on top of the AC duct near the shifter, the bluetooth antenna on the AC duct under the centre console The GPS unit on top of the DS to AC duct; they all seem to work OK there are are out of the way. Neat cable routing is a pain. For the drive recorder I mounted it near the rear view mirror and run the cable in the headlining, across the a pillar and then down the inside of the a pillar seal to the DS lower dash. From there it goes across and to one USB input for the unit. The second USB input is attached to the ECUtec OBD dongle and the 3rd goes to the USB bulkhead connected I added in the centre console. This is how the centre console looks "tidied" up Note I didn't install the provided speaker, didn't use the 2.5mm IPod in line or the piggyback loom for the Ipod or change any DIP switches; they seem to only be required if you need to use the Ipod input rather than the AUX input. That's it, install done, I'll follow up with a separate post on how the unit works, but in summary it retains all factory functions and inputs (so I still use my phone to the car for calls), reverse still works like factory etc.
    • Place the new daughterboard in the case and mount it using the 3 small black rivets provided, and reconnect the 3 factory ribbon cables to the new board Then, use the 3 piggyback cables from the daughterboard into the factory board on top (there are stand offs in the case to keep them apart. and remember to reconnect the antenna and rear cover fan wires. 1 screw to hold the motherboard in place. Before closing the case, make a hole in the sticker covering a hole in the case and run the cable for the android unit into the plug there. The video forgot this step, so did I, so will you probably. Then redo the 4 screws on back, 2 each top and bottom, 3 each side and put the 2 brackets back on.....all ready to go and not that tricky really.
    • Onto the android unit. You need to remove the top screen because there is a daughterboard to put inside the case. Each side vent pops out from clips; start at the bottom and carefully remove upwards (use a trim remover tool to avoid breaking anything). Then the lower screen and controls come out, 4 screws, a couple of clips (including 3 flimsy ones at the top) and 3 plugs on the rear. Then the upper screen, 4 screws and a bunch of plugs and she is out. From there, remove the mounting brackets (2 screws each), 4 screws on the rear, 2 screws top and bottom and 3 screws holding in the small plates on each side. When you remove the back cover (tight fit), watch out for the power cable for the fan, I removed it so I could put the back aside. The mainboard is held in by 1 screw in the middle, 1 aerial at the top and 3 ribbon cables. If you've ever done any laptop stuff the ribbon cables are OK to work with, just pop up the retainer and they slide out. If you are not familiar just grab a 12 year old from an iphone factory, they will know how it works The case should now look like this:
    • Switching the console was tricky. First there were 6 screws to remove, and also the little adapter loom and its screws had to come out. Also don't forget to remove the 2 screws holding the central locking receiver. Then there are 4 clips on either side....these were very tight in this case and needed careful persuading with a long flat screw driver....some force required but not enough to break them...this was probably the fiddliest part of the whole job. In my case I needed both the wiring loom and the central locking receiver module to swap across to the new one. That was it for the console, so "assembly is the reverse of disassembly"
