Okay guys, just a theoretical topic for some discussion.

My 34 GTT is currently in the shop getting a Haltech P2000, GT3076, 800cc injectors, clutch, fuel pump and all the rest - hoping for a 250rwkw daily 15psi and 300(ish)rwkw 20psi tune.

Now, my thoughts are turning to 0-100 km/h times.

Obviously this question is a bit like "how long is a piece of string" - depending on driver, tyres, road conditions etc etc but i thought it might prove interesting to hear other's thoughts (and if possible timed 0-100 times) from those that have or have driven 250-300 rwkw skylines.

The new XR6Ts apparently do 5.1 seconds all day long without the need to really stall it, while 34 GTRs (stock) can do 4.9 if banged off the rev limiter and dumped so I guess i'm interested in a comparison (not that i would give my 34 up for an XR6T - well at least not until the family requirements change and the 34 ends up as a track car!).

What does everyone think (or know...)?

If you can get a 250-300rwkw GTST/GTT to hold traction well off the line (good street tyres/semi slicks) a mid 4 second time should be fairly easy. Traction of the line is the hardest thing though, mine lights up 255 Toyos with ease at 3500rpm in first which becomes a problem. Would love to get it to hold first though, would be fantastic off the line.

And just a light launch, say just enough so you don't bog down - an easy 5s flat wouldn't be out of the question I assume?

I'd think that with that much power the pull towards the top of 1st and into 2nd should move it fairly quickly even without a great launch?

And speaking of tyres, does running a lower pressure on street tyres / rims (say 18s or 19s) make any difference to traction...?

it's all in the launch and car setup / suspension if you want low 0 too 100km/h

the one i did 4.88 was prefect launch with brand new pzero 255's and 190rwkw

the car had some basic suspension work, pineapple kit, camber, castor and bushes from memory

you need to get off the line with no wheelspin and grab 2nd as quick as you can when you top 1st

dont bother for 3rd, youll pass 100km/h before you top 2nd gear

for tyre pressure if you want off the line run 18-20psi in the rears and your acceleration will be quicker with smaller wheels, ie 17s instead of 19s

I was thinking of sticking some pzero 265/19/30s on but at $900 each that's getting a bit pricey... :D

Guess i'll see how bad it is when i get it back at the end of next week and decide how much $$$ i need to spend to get traction...!

Once my Toyo's are a bit worn im going to try some KU36's and with some lower tyre pressure im hoping they will hold allright.

i think there would be a sweet spot for the fatest possible acceleration in 0 to 100km

after that, any more power at the rear just results in wheelspin / slower times

i think the std turbo and basic mods to 200rwkw is when the GTST is the quickest in 0 to 100

i think with sub 280rwkw it may be a touch slower with wheelspin

after 100km the 280rwkw+ would walk away

but 200rwkw with traction would nail it i reckon vs 280rwkw and wheelspin

Yeah I find that to be the case. With a complete stand still I struggle to get it off the line quickly just because it breaks out like a bitch. Anything from a slow roll on and it's great.

The key definetely is in trying to get the suspension and tyre setup in a sweet spot to get the power down as early as possible. Any slight wheel spin will kill the 0-100.

I guess you could always try not putting your foot to the floor in the 250kw+ Skyline and feeding it in..? Guess that can be a hard ask in the heat of the moment. Will have to see how i go next weekend i suppose...!

I don't want to get beaten by a fairly standard skyline (or a bloody WRX) after spending the amount I just have for 250-300kw so i might just get some damn good tyres...! :D

I guess your usual inner-city drag doesn't start off with a full on launch though anyway, it's usually the feel each other out through the first half of first, then once you both know you are going to go put the power down... Am I right to assume that in that situation the 250-300kw Skyline is going to leave the 200kw one, or the SS / XR8 / WRX in the dust (obviously that is then taking the launch out of it...)?

wheelspin is a bitch...ive got around 200rwkw i raced my mates s2000 he smoked me at the start since the hondas are light as a fether and my wheelspin was going like crazy.. raced a wrx when i dumped it on second wheelspin set me back.. yea sounds like im still a beginer in shifting..

Lol,

When i have a go at someone at the lights, you usually know well before hand that it's on, so i just bring revs up to 7k and dump LOL.

Cheers,

Mitch.

I have recently tested mine with my ecutalk thingy and not sure how accurate it is.

With around 225rwkw i manages 5.5sec. Just had it tuned to e85 (250rwkw) and best time 5.75. Add another full second if i bog down a bit. My 5.5 run had fair bit of wheel spin in first. I could probably ride the clutch a bit to bring the times down but cant be stuffed. Tyres are 265 (cant remember brand) but at 30psi.

    • Haha, i kow right? Could have bought so many cars for the same amount of money (or less) but driving Unicorn gives you at least +1mln to style 😅. Like wise man said "life's to short to drink cheap wine and drive boring cars" 😉
    • Newbie here, proud owner of an Autech 260RS. I'm on the hunt for wiring diagrams specific to the 260RS, particularly S1. I've ran my eyes through R33, R34 Diagrams, there are some similarities, however continue to find incorrect wire colours and pins on connectors in the 33,34 diagrams.   I was hoping someone could point me in the right direction? I'd be happy to pay for the originals in Japanese. I can translate them, at least they would be accurate.   Any help please would be greatly appreciated, never heard an RB26DETT before let alone driven one, and I've got a spaghetti monster of goodness to sort out.   Cheers Benny
    • Hey all  im wondering if you can help me please I have put a rb20 box in my r34 gtt as my auto packed up and a friend had a spare box I know it’s not ideal but it will get me up and running for now. we have done the conversation and everything is working great but my Speedo we got a s13 speed sensor but my Speedo reads double now and I bought a speed converter but still not having any luck.  so I thought I’ll reach out and pick your brains  any help would be appreciated please as I wanna drive my car again
    • Drain it. I got official Matic D but you can get whatever is listed as Matic D compatible.
    • Thanks guys,  Yeah I should at least have them dynoed, at least then I know what I've got as a starting point.  The springs on these are hard as rocks. I vaguely remember Russman saying he was going to sell the shocks to me with the rocks fitted, as he was keeping the softer springs for his new setup.  I didn't click at the time but of course that was to let me know the shock/spring wouldn't be matched.  I also remember pricing up new springs around 2014-15, but, house, money etc. it never happened. So that was another reason to have them rebuilt. I have rebuilt the forks on many motorcycles so I think I could handle the seals on these easily enough, but getting the valving right would be a rabbit hole I cbf exploring.  Duncan, interesting to hear RP was tuning these back then. I might give them a call.  In the mean time I have been busy fitting sway bars. The Whiteline rear sway bar I purchased 15 years ago finally got fitted, along with the Whiteline front bar that showed up last week. Just waiting on new links for the front sway bar to finish that off.  And my spare set of advan AVS VS5's should be back from the powder coaters in a Pearl White finish sometime this week, with a set of Hankook RS4's lined up for fitting.  And then I just have all the suspension bushes to do. A comprehensive kit is on the way... Lots to do before the Ararat hill climb. Cheers guys 🍻
