Hello.

My brother has saved up $19k cash and wants to buy a Skyline in the very near future.

I've told him that he should get something with at least driver's airbag and ABS.

He doesn't really care much about mods.

He would prefer white or silver but will consider other colours.

Must be manual.

Prefer lowest k's possible.

Will $19k get him into a series II?

He is in Brisbane and I'm in Sydney so either Brisbane or Sydney sellers can reply (if they are willing to sell their car for the price mentioned).

Jeff?

It's Andrew with NOS-25T (which I've sold now)...

Your brother would do very well for himself to get into a Series 2 for $17k... Last time I checked, stock standard, decent condition Series 2s were still going for around $22-24k, and if your brother is anything like you are, he wouldn't be happy with an accident damaged, crappy example.

Actually, I believe cars sell for quite a deal cheaper up in QLD, so it's probably best to look up there.

updated interior. driver and passenger airbag standard. updated bodykit. updated front spoiler. abs standard (as far as i know). turbo compressor wheel is ceramic, series I is metal? (unsure). seats have different trim. dash has updated look.

Hi Andrew + others.

thanks for the replies.

We've decided it's definitely got to be a series II so I'm going to lend him the extra to get his budget up to around the $19k mark (hopefully this will be enough).

Anyone in Syd / Bris who is desperate to sell, please contact me on 0414 843 674.

You're going to be looking for a while..

Why pick up the lowest possible priced s2 you can find (cheapest for a reason!), when you can get a good s1 for that price? I think its silly buying and the differences are hardly worth it, but its your money.

I agree with pred :P

I actually know a good s1 for sale at the moment :P a rather rare one too check my sig!

Id drive it up to sydney for you as well for the price mentioned on my website ;).

Funny...i was told late 1995 = series 1.5

  Ive got airbag and abs

Ditto.

I agree, the differences (pfft what differences) are so minor that the extra $4-5k could be put into a bodykit + wheels or a decent amount of engine mods.

Yeah, it really depends on milage you'll be happy with.

I have a pristine 93 M spec with 36,000 genuine klms (I have Japanese service history) and other proof to verify this.

really nice 17 inch wheels, trust boost controller, pod, pillar gauges, timer, alarm etc...

Considering other 93's with nearly 100,000 k's are going for near $20 with less parts, I am confident that mine is worth $22??? or there abouts.

Like I said in another post, you get what you pay for!!!

I 120% agree with Predator - pay peanuts and you get monkeys...

Learn this lesson with clothes and food, not cars - can be very expensive... and dangerous!!!

Well............ I suppose that's ONE way of labelling it. Nissan however didn't call it a Series 1.5...

Airbags were introduced around December 1994 (although I've seen several earlier 1994s with airbags).

If I remember correctly, ABS was an option throughout the entire R33 range (1993 onwards), with it turning to standard equipment in Series 2, although I've seen one Series 2 R33 without ABS!!

The usual and accepted differentiating years are:

1993-Dec 1995: Series 1

Jan 1996 - End: Series 2 (Facelift model with passenger airbag and all the updates mentioned in PaulR33's post)

    • Nice shot! They look super clean. The roof rack delete on the black one is interesting. Would like to see more pictures from different angles. It's subtle but could make quite a difference to how the car looks in profile.
