Hey guys,

as the post says my friend is keen on buying an import but at this stage is unsure of what exactly. Hes anal about private purchasing, even from this site where most of us treat our cars like a living and breathing human being! Just wondering what dealerships are the most trustworthy both here and interstate? Northshore Prestige and Nagoya Motors have already been discussed. Thanks :P

bah tell him to buy mine... its kinda from a dealer

but yeah... been to both northshore and nagoya, both are a good lot.

Been to top secret, they seem really helpful, it was a shame that the car i was looking at there turned out to have severe issues, but they refunded my deposit no questions asked.

I cant vouch for any others, just stay away from some of the inner west dealers, you probably already know the name but if not pm me.

Sinergy.

Yeah, like Krish said, they put the prices up, but most other places do, gotta make a profit somehow.

But definatly Iron Chef. Havn't heard anything remotely bad about him, or his importing process.

I think Iron Chef usually has some stock here in OZ aswell? Either way I would definetly be using him over a car yard and save some coin. The best thing about importing is you will get "exactly" what you want and the exchange rate is also reasonable at the moment.

Ryan

dealer = car + markup + included warranty + did i say markup????

knock em down to private costs and youl be ok but otherwise buy private, as most dealers try to cover over bad shit.

where as a private buy would be more likely to be honest and fill you in to the best of their knowledge, if they have any or can be full'o'shit....

Thanks guys,

appreciate all the help. I'll point him to Sinergy for local stuff, he checked Iron Chef website but didnt see any in stock that caught his eye. Haha markups galore, cant say thankyou enough to Kristian for the baby i have getting complied. Saved me at LEAST $2k-$5k id say.

yeah I'd have to agree with the majority

See if you can change your mates mind with a bit of logic and go with someone who is trustworthy and has the runs on the board = Kristian

I'll do my best,

ive shown him the example with my car. As much as he loves the savings that can be had, the 2-3mth wait is the deal "killer" for him as is the inability to get finance until the car is psychically owned/registered.

Personally I saved about $4k by heading to Sydney when I got my ride & ended up with a better car than any I'd seen here at the time.

The only yard at the time that had what I was interested in wouldn't even let me take it for a drive without putting money down, so I got jack of that & hopped on a plane.

Synergy was probably the best locally, even brought a car down to my work for me to look check out & take for a spin, but wasn't quite what I was after.

They have a much better selection now days though.

i live in Adelaide and bought in Queensland , have a good look around

I remember Geof from Extreme Horsepower scored a bargain GTR from the eastern states a few months ago

Definately shop around - find out how much car freight costs as well as state rego transferral and see if it ends up being cheaper

-D

    • Yea - I mean I've seen my fuel pump which is decades old and uh, while I'm not saying this with real knowledge... but I sure get the ick at using anything in the fuel system that produced the state of that pump. Many years ago I went through multiple pumps (and strainers) before I dropped the tank to clean it out with extreme violence. I'm talking the car would do maybe 50km before coming to a halt, which resulted in me cleaning out the filter with some brake cleaner and going on my way. None of my stuff ever looked like what came out of your fuel tank. I don't think I'd be happy with it unless every single component was replaced (or at least checked/cleaned/confirmed to be clean here).
    • I'm not going to recommend an EBC pad. I don't like them. Just about anything else would suit me better. I've been using Intima pads for a while now.
    • Agreed, and in particular the earth strap that should go from the subframe to the chassis but it often broken or left off. There is a section in the R32 workshop manual you can follow for troubleshooting if you don't see anything suspicious, and depending where you are (there is no location on your user profile) you should be able to get your hands on a second hand replacement unit still if needed
    • Yeah they mention as a R34 for 2.5 Turbo...but then again thos "small" were also for R34 by that different site. But i look into it and that 310mm EBC is for R34 GTT. And by those you linked the specs are the same 🙂    EDIT: I found these on one site here: DBA 4000 series T3 DBA42304S They are 310mm...and it says are for R34GTT...are there good? EDIT2: ok they have pads too.  What "color" should i get for street use? I dont want/need some noisy ones...(and if they are not that dusty that is good too)
    • Yeah, shame. Maybe  driver's carpet is available 🙏. I am waiting for both amayama and nangun to confirm.
