How do you find the PAR box?

This car is still 'in-the-build' but will be fully running for Powerplay next weekend.

He actually purchased the PAR gearbox off me, I had it behind one of my cars (my 535rwhp R32) and it was awesome!! I'm sure Jay will love it (especially the noise!)

thread is approved!!!!

the engine was just being finished being put together this afternoon by the boys at Mercury Motorsport and its being put into the car with the PAR gearbox tonight.

here is some info on the engine

Engine– MERCURY MOTORSPORT'S CUSTOM DESIGN RB26/30

RB30/26 "3064cc"

Nitto oil pump

Custom crank girdle

Chromemoly main caps

CP Pistons

SPOOL Rods

ARP main studs

ARP head Studs

Modified bearing caps

Lightened and balanced crank

Ported head

+1mm oversize valves

270/270 camshafts

valve springs & titanium retainers

Oil Cooler

ATI 1000hp harmonic balancer

S13 Power Steering pump

Nismo engine mounts

PWR oil cooler

PWR power steering cooler

Koyo radiator

here are some of the engine components and assembly photos.

If your wondering what the hell the 1st photo is the custom crank girdle, it ties in with the chromemoly main caps. Its purpose is to keep the engine tied all together and to stay true at high rpm and horse power.

And the last photo is of the chromemoly main caps that tie in with the custom crank girdle!

Stock crank? Maybe I missed it, turbo?

sorry mate, i was just planning to do a post a day up in each area on the car with clear photos, so its easy to follow the build. As there is a fair bit going into it.

tomorrow ill post photos of the engine with all the bolt ons on.

but feel free to PM me or missr32 for any info if your really curious.

keen to hear about how good the gearbox is because everyone seems to bad mouth the PAR sets

To be fair, comments like that are why there's a bit of doubt about them :D

The SR guys have the issues, but they've been swapping to rb25 boxes as the SR boxes just aren't as strong

I know! But, this box was behind my 535rwhp RB25 and it was fine. It's had a few hard launches at Willowbank as well and never missed a beat, always shifted smoothly. For me, it was fantastic.

In saying that I've also had a PPG dogbox behind my 25 as well - it was awesome (clutchless shifts ftw!) but was a bitch to drive on the streets. As the PAR box was synchro'd with a shortshift kit, I still had to use the clutch so the gearchanges weren't as quick as the PPG but it's such a smooth box and so nice to use on the street.

PPG's are only quick to shift if they are built right...lol

The engines bolt on's are just as important to match together to work properly as the engine so to achieve my desired response with power i went with

GCG TO4r

6 Boost manifold

50mm Turbosmart Wastegate

Custom 4 inch dump pipe

Hypertune plenum

90mm throttle body

here are some photos

    • Yes, I know🙄 but the sequential is not in my budget... don't want to reduce power neither, so looks like I'm stuck in the rabbit hole🤣
    • You’ll be very upset when you bust that too not to mention the gearing totally sucks. Don’t do it.
    • Is the panel filter one that is oiled? Have you ever cleaned or touched the AFM?
    • So.... the K&N air box thingo was too big, ended up gifting it to a mate, well, by gifting it he actually supplied food and beer at the pub,  which was nice, as it will not sit on a shelf in the garage for the next 10 years I did trim up some of the existing stuff to neaten it all up and gave it some wrinkle paint, unfortunately it currently has a used and abused mish mash of different types of hose clamps, 4 big fat T bolt type (shit), and a few normal clamps of vairing sizes and brands, but..... only until the 6 constant tension black worm clamps that I ordered from EFI solutions turn up next week Currently the current hose clamps are triggering me hard, LOL Is this the final version, probably not, I really want just 2 silicone pieces, a straight bit of silicone from the filter to the MAF is easy and will happen as soon as I head into Just Jap tomorrow, the problematic part is a 30° silicone bend from the MAF to the TB that I can connect the engine breather from the head, I found that there are bulk head fittings for boat bilge pumps that should work, but until I can get a 30° silicone bend the alloy pipe, and the 11ty thousand hose clamps, are there for the foreseeable future 4 hose clamps are golden, 6 are grudgingly acceptable, the 8 currently holding it all together is just taking the piss    I've also ordered 60 more retaining wall blocks for the front yard, I mis-gonculated the height that was required to get above the base of the Photinia's (red robin's) that are the hedge behind the front fence, currently it is 2 blocks high, and about 1/2 a block short, so going 3 blocks high will be above the base of the red robin's, and allow some room for mulch
