hey all, im just wondering if anyone has bought a car or knows anything about sinergy motorsports in adelaide?

im looking to buy a 34GTR and sinergy seems to be the only major import yard in S.A. as im going to be spending around 50 grand on a car that is 10 years old, i want something i can see and test drive rather than relying on importing one from japan.

any feedback would be appreciated on past exepriences from sinergy or on importing

cheers lads!

there are a few other you could try too. synergy are pretty pricey. Redline Motorsport is a good one apparently.

seriously though, dont buy from a dealer unless you absolutely, 100%, really, really, definitely need to. so much cheaper to go private, and even more so to import.

Sinergy = expensive. But make sure the car comes with log books, etc.

Dude from ns.com works as a mechanic over there, too. Might want to ask him about the place.

I've had a mate who test drove a few cars from there - various experiences. Some have no history + accident repair that's evident but they don't tell you that. They also repsray all cars that come in hence why they all look so good.

if you are prepared to play the waiting game for a nice import with books, and shows squeaky clean results after various inspections, and you are prepared to pay a bit extra for the luxury, then theres nothing wrong with going through Sinergy.

Mind you, im sure some who have bought a car just from pictures and words will tell you its the best decision they have ever made. And it makes complete sense to go through the Iron Chef.

Synergy normal have quality but are pricey they are also EDITED BY SLED

That's a pretty big call...

And that's an even bigger allegation... :(

There are plenty of threads here on SAU about importing vs buying from a yard but everyone's personal experiences will vary. I'm sure that there will be plenty of people who have had good and bad experiences with [insert name of whichever import yard].

It's unlikely that any import yard will have an R34 GTR just sitting on the lot. If you want to specifically import one, then a good importer should be able to give you plenty of info and photos at every stage along the way. That's what i would expect anyway.

I got my V35 from Sinergy in perfect condition (it was a specific order) and it hasn't skipped a beat. No complaints from me about their sales or service after many years *shrugs*

I am a former employee of rob down at Sinergy Motorsports and I will happily say as a former employee as a mechanic that the car quality is second to none - if your willing to pay the little extra I say go ahead. You can find cheaper imports around, but the care they receive at Sinergy before they hit the yard, the mechanical work, 100,000k services, full mechanical inspection, not to mention Rob only chooses the creame of the crop anyway.

Go ahead mate, you WONT be disapointed :(.

Not all cars are repayred, but the ones that need cosmetic touch ups receive it.

Proximity - I would love to know how you could throw such an accusation

I bought my 33 there almost a year ago and I also take it there for servicing. I've had no dramas with them, they do a great job and the guys there know their stuff, rob is very helpful and a great bloke.

Only bit of advice i can say, is basically, don't worry about what people say on the internet in regards to bad news.

Sinergy wouldn't be around still if their work was that bad.

Best thing you can do, is to go there yourself, in person, and talk to him about your needs.

Trust me, it's a lot easier to do that, rather than listen to people's opinions, even though you have asked for them.

Iron Chef does do a good job, if you don't wish to purchase locally.

Singergy blah blah blah (SLED would edit anything i say anyway), why don't you just buy this one?

dunno if you have read this http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/boardrules.html , but theres a reason for the editing.

Rocco from Sinergy told me personally that they resprayed all their cars when they came in...

Just passing on what the sales guy told me at Sinergy... Not making any 'wild allegations' :D

Just like mechanics, everyone has a horror story about import yards/car yards, too.

and knowing Rocco personally, i know that not be true. why would a sales guy make a statement that would jeopardise his sales?

this thread has the potential to go sour very soon.

I'm not making up some wild bullshit here. Me and my mate went down there about 2 years ago, test drove a Supra, we went into his office to sort out paperwork, my mate said "Your cars here all look like they've just been painted?" and his words were "Yes, we respray them when they come in from Japan just to get rid of any minor scratches or dings that would normally occur on the shipping process". Shit, most imports you see come in do infact have minor scratches.

It's not a "I heard my cousins mates uncles sisters brother said this" story.

What is wrong with respraying a car in a caryard, anyway? Would you like a full transcript of the conversation I had with the guy?

I can't see how this would affect his business. He paints the cars that come in... that's a plus for the end buyer. I'm not saying he imports cars that have been sitting in a salt mine for 8 years and paints them up.

Every car dealer has it's good/bad stories.

Thats a pretty nice looking 34R and pretty much close to the price that your after mate.....i would definitely be looking into that if i were to purchase a 34R.....nothing wrong with buying one locally as you can see the condition it is in and also be able to test drive it....i personally have not bought a car from Sinergy Motorsports.....but however had a cousin of mine buy a 34 GTT from there a few years ago and that car has not skipped a beat.....very clean example of a 34 GTT....i have dealt with them to get a few things done in prep for regency and they are very very helpful bunch of lads down there....they are also very understanding.....

so from where i see this there are few options that you have....first look into buying a 34 R that is already here and for sale locally....second go into Sinergy Motorsport and talk to the guys, specially the one who looks after the importing side of things.....third talk to the SAU resident importer Mr. Iron Chef, a few people on the forums have imported their cars through him and pretty sure if you talk to him you will get a better understanding of the whole process and how he goes about it all.....

good luck with whichever way you go mate....shall be good to see another 34 R on the adelaide streets

    • Hello!  i just finished manual swaping my r34 skyline with a r33 rb20de box(RB71C)box  When the car is running it squeaks crazy loud and it was smoking from the gearbox area. The gearbox is fine it was tested. The clutch slave cylinder seems like it doesn't fully releases the clutch. I want to ask if this noise is from the throw out bearing or could it be the clutch assembly or disk att.xFliq87Gzw6kImKBVqDebXkj0fBqymk0JaYeP3_3SlM.mp4
    • A few small updates since the previous post and lessons. I decided to do a little interior light upgrade on the 110. I quite like the iilumo items, even if they're a bit of a premium over other brands. You'll also note the Stedi Fogs, that will go into the S15 fog lights as I needed to match the bulbs since I got the new ones earlier. I hope they fit as the body is quite a bit longer than your normal bulb.  Annoyingly, I managed to trip the fuse, which normally wouldn't be an issue until I located the fuse. I can't say I've ever come across this. I had lucked out that someone nearby had a spare, but oddly enough Toyota dealerships seem to keep this in stock. I ordered some to keep in my stash and as luck would have it, someone else nearby tripped the same fuse so I passed on the favour.  I also did a little service on the 110 ahead of some additional work coming up. It's been annoying that Goleby's stopped carrying this particular HKS filter for the 110, so now I need to keep them on order from Japan. I also took the opportunity to install a bash plate and number plate riser. The plate riser is such a cheap but nice fix to help really tidy up the car. I'm tempted to now also replace my headlights, on this car. Both items were from Project Aero.    I also needed to replace the rear tyres on the 110, and after trying to get it aligned learnt that I need to replace some bushes in the front end, so that's next.  Closing out this update with a nicer picture as always!
