Have been slowoly putting together a 10k GT-R mod package and have come to the tuning side of things. 10k got me a PAR gearbox, -5's, 550cc squirters, vipec, nismo pump, K&N panel filter, adj cam gears and half a tune at the local shop. ( the half a tune will be explained shortly)

i have attached a dyno graph of what this setup made and im not entirely happy with the results. I was informed by the tuner that he was not impressed by the car and that power was very umm, linear. I questioned why this would be and 4 days and 2k later, i have no answers and a bloody big headache. Now bieng in a semi regional part of the state of QLD means im basically 600km from anywhere so taking it south was always going to be a second option. Lesson learnt!

If any of the Guru's out there would like to shed some intrawebs mechanical knowledge on this and throw some ideas my way, ill happily take it on board and try it out as im a little angry and disheartned. AND, before i get grilled about going -5's, i went that option for future mod plans. The car drives average and seems to make about 4hp more than stock, even in the top end, has no coldstart properties whatsoever and seems to be running as rich as an arab oil baron at the moment so fire away!

I'd swap tuners, or swap cars. Owning a car like a GTR in a country town has its problems [i'm in the same jam]. You have to decide if you want to drive 2-300km and get a 'real' tune, or if you would rather live with an aussie V8???

I think that your mods should give good power and maybe more than what you already have, 280kw is OK, but a GTR with those mods should be over 300. So your tuner is the weak link in the chain.

As they say, only a poor workman blames his tools..............

What exhaust do you have? If it is a standard one then maybe that could be affecting final power?

    • It is a kunfine Android screen . Does anyone know the wirering diagram of the fuga ??
    • just an update to this, poor man pays twice  Tried sanding down the pulleys but it didnt do the trick. Chucked another second hand alternator in the na car which I got for free off my mate and its fixed the squelling. Must have been unlucky with the bearings.    As for my turbo car, I managed to pick up a cwc rb alternator conversion bracket + LS alternator for 250 off marketplace, looked to be in really good nick. Installed it , started the car and its not charging the battery.... ( Im not good with auto elec stuff so im not sure if this was all I needed to do but I verified such by using a multimeter on the battery when the engine was running and I was only getting 12.2v )   I had to modify the earth strap for the new LS alternator , factory earth strap was a 10mm bolt which did not fit the bolt on the LS alternator which was double the size so I cut it off , went to repco bought some ring terminals that fit, crimped it onto the old earth strap and bolted it up to the alternator , started the car and same issue. Ran like shit and was reading 12.2 at the battery.  For a "plug and play" advertised kit thats not very plug and play but alas.  My question is , am I missing something ? Ive been reading that some people recommend upgrading the stock 80 amp alternator fuse to a 140 amp but I dont see how that would stop the alternator charging especially at idle not under load.  Regardless ive pulled it out and am going to get it bench tested by an auto elec tomorrow but it would be handy to know if ive missed something silly or have done something wrong.
    • My wild guess is that you have popped off an intake pipe....check all of the hoses between the turbo and the throttle for splits or loose clamps.
    • Awesome, thanks for sharing!
    • To provide more specific help, more information is needed. What Android screen? What is its wiring diagram? Does the car's wiring have power at any required BAT and ACC wires, and is the loom's earth good?
