Interesting... Arent we currently talking in the 140kmph thread about how most drivers are under educated? By saying 'I only had this much practice and I passed' probably just makes people find it ok to practice less because other people have and have gotten away with it. This is most likely the mentality that increases collisions caused by inexperience. Not that I'm saying a person like that would be a bad driver, I only had four classes (min avail at the time) and passed fine, but I'd been driving paddock bombs for about 10 years before that :P

I also recommend getting your car in someones paddock and just let rip... it always helps me remind myself of how a car reacts when you loose traction, and that's something they can't teach. Plus grass can be nice and slippery :)

Wish i had a paddock to fool around in. I had an army bombing ground though, but all the stupid shit was done using a fwd 1.6Turbo fiat bravo. After awhile, you run out of shit to do. =(

I was in Queensland for 6months and booked my test without doing any lessons.

It was a long shot because they were just implementing the 2008 July 1st Law. So it was do or die i wasn't going to not try.

So did you pass or not?? The only thing you have to do is not panic, go in thinking your a skilled D1 driver who conquers the road, worked for me.

ps. i didn't lose any points. like someone else said, a monkey can do that test. the only thing my awesome tester told me was; "you take corners a little fast".

Passed the test, parked the car, told him i never did a lesson and he said god help you. Hahaha

My twin went for her license last month and passed, I was shocked. She crashed 3 days after getting it! She's not the best driver, and she'd never had any parking practice prior to her driving lesson on the day before the test. just goes to show how easy it is. I go for mine next week so fingers crossed I'll pass.

Thanks alot guys you really helped out. i only f**ked up on a round about, forgot to indicate, and on ballarat road i didnt accelerate quick enough after doing a U turn. 2 critical errros total.

Funny story about a car. I was going to buy an r32 turbo, i think an rb20det, i gave the chick a couple hundred deposit after i looked at a few weeks back but after i left, another person came and test drove it..."apparently" the peson broke the car.

She says its the fuel pump or some shit so now she prob wont sell it to me because she is going to make that person buy it. I was so shattered when i rang her yesterday, it is the hottest r32 ive ever seen.

So i guess im in the market for a r32 or 33. :)

thanks again guys

edit: this is the car i was going to buy, you can see it says "on hold" which was meant for me :D

Beautiful R32

They didn't break the car, they offered her more for it than you did :)

Not a good looking R32 IMO you can do much better than a rat rod spec thing like that. Why don't you get something like a non-turbo R33 for your P plates...

Do yourself a favor and DO NOT buy a turbo i was about to buy a 32 GTST but went for a non turbo 33, so glad i did because a week after I got my 33 I had the car fully searched by TMU for shit, and that would of been bye bye right there, not to mention I've been pulled over around 15 times in the time that I've been on my Ps.

You've been pretty unlucky with cops.... 16+ times :)

And Just because you are getting off your P's and drive a turbo, it doesn't mean they won't puill you over another 15 times and defect you 15 times :D

    • I should. But it already uses too much fuel for a daily. You might note my recco for engine chnages are almost exclusively to people who have it as a weekender/summer car. I don't even have room to keep the spares for this one, let alone another car.
    • If I had "perfect R33 GTR" kinda money I would have bought one of the crazy expensive low mileage HJA cars, but I am sadly not that wealthy. I already picked this car out of various Skylines for sale locally, most of which were worse in some way. Only a few cars were actually better but also more expensive. In terms of buying a motor locally, I at least have the option to inspect it myself and juding the seller as a person, and used or freshly rebuilt engines that some people sell are actually ok price-wise. I knew the car was going to require work, but shit piled up real fast and I haven't even driven 1000km yet as the turbo started oiling like a bitch within a few weeks after I got the car.   I assume it wasn't actually me who cracked it, though there is no way to know when that crack formed and if the previous owner even knew it was there. Buying another 05U Block can be a gamble, yeah, but the cheapest PRP cast block is like twice or more money-wise, and billet is 3 or 3 times as much. For now I am most likely just keeping the current engine, as a rebuild or engine swap isn't happening right now. But I am seriously considering buying a second engine and selling mine in return. Might be a sweet deal at the end.
    • Hi all. I need some help buying the correct size banjo bolts for my 2860 turbos. Because whoever installed them tore up the original part, I ordered new ones of this kind, because I just figured these were the most leak-resistant option as I already had trouble with a shitty braided line. I need to know the thread size of the smaller left hole, that is the turbo oil feed connection. I found out so far that the turbo oil inlet apparently has a 7/16"-24 thread, but I cannot find any listing or description of the thread size on this line. I do not have the original bolts. I tried using the bolts that were in the turbos (the ones that were mounted with the shitty braided line) but they sit very loosely so they can't be the right thread. Means either these bolts are the wrong ones (how do they fit the turbo then? no clue) or the wraparound-lines have a different thread than the turbo oil feed itself. Help is appreciated, asking Nissan directly is obviously not going to work.
    • EDIT: PSA to whoever stumbles upon this thread. It is in fact a crack in the block that caused this concern. Just letting you know. In my case, a few cm long hairline crack going horizontally above the turbo oil feed. Classic RB shit I guess
