Probably not the best advice, but when I imported my 260RS it came with a horrible HKS triple plate clutch, that I absolutely hated. Mates called me a wuss and said I can't handle a real mans clutch. Until they ALL stalled it over and over. If stalling is your idea of a good time, then yeah, great clutch.

I got rid of the HKS and got a single plate Nismo Coppermix clutch. This clutch is the boomshanka of clutches. I can come to almost a complete standstill in 2nd and it don't stall. City traffic? Not a problem. Its light, its easy and behaves like a standard clutch. I'm pushing 300 killer wasps in my car, and the Nismo Coppermix doesn't miss a beat. A wee bit pricey (I picked up mine online for cheap) but either way, worth every dollar. Do some research on them, I'm sure others can vouch for their goodness. A really great all rounder.

I'm thinking of going for a Nismo Coppermix single as well - my clutch doesn't slip, but I'm sick of the constant shakes and on/off nature of a button clutch being used in a daily-driven car. Hopefully it'll be lighter to use, too.

you should speak to jim berry, i've heard that he is really enthusiastic but realistic

you tell him what you do with your car and what you are planning to do with it and he will come up with the best compromise

i've heard he also does a custom clutch using rb26 bits and pieces and you get a higher clamp load with stock ish plate that will hold good power and feels like stock

let me know how much yours ends up being, i think im in the same boat as you :P

I'm running a Nismo lightened flywheel, Nismo 1200kg pressure plate, and Nismo Coppermix clutch plate. Cost me $300 used and then another $200 or so for ACS to machine the flywheel and pressure plate and check it all over. Its great to use, even as a daily. I've never stalled the Stagea with it. And its holding 204awkw without any problems.

not to hijack this thread, but im looking for a clutch kit for my s2, and as our cars have r33 gtr running gear, just wanting to know if a r33 gtst push type clutch kit and flywheel will fit. or does it need to be a gtr kit?

r33 gtr or r34 gtt clutches (also late model r32 gtr's too)

they are a pull type

How are you going with the clutch, have you got any prices yet and if so how much roughley as mine is on the way out so i need to start saving :(

Also I am pretty sure we have found a way of locking up the hicas without removing the rack, very easy job. I will post up pics and explain more when done should be with in the month

cheers

to lock your hicas just put a washer on either end of the rack . need about 2 mm either side

BNT in chch nz quoted me 380+ for standard clutch and 660+ for heavy duty coushined button for my rs four s

for Xtreme brand

Yeah im good mate how are you, havent sourced anything clutch wise yet will let you know when i do! could last a couple of months yet. I dont wnat to replace it until it shits itself.

I thought u had a auto stagea?

Dont have to worry about the hicas, My reasearch in finding a lock bar came to a pretty abrupt end. Found a cusco one but they said its only for race purposes. Im going to rebuild my hicas as i know this dude at nissan dandenong and he can get all the parts to do so and its not that dear.

    • My guesstimate, with no real numbers to back it up, is it won't effect it greatly at all.its not a huge change in position, and I can't see the air flow changing from in turbulence that much based on distance, and what's in front of it. Johnny and Brad may have some more numbers to share from experience though.
    • Which solenoid? Why was it changed? Again, why was this done? ...well, these wear..but ultimately, why was it changed? Did you reset the idle voltage level after fitment? I'm just a tad confused ~ the flash code doesn't allude to these items being faulty, so in my mind the only reason to change these things, would be some drive-ability issue....and if that's the case, what was the problem? Those questions aside, check if the dropping resistor is OK ...should be 11~14 ohms (TCU doesn't throw a flash code for this) ~ also, these TCU designs have full time power (to keep fault code RAM alive), and I think that'll throw a logic code (as opposed to the 10 hardware codes), if that power is missing (or the ram has gone bad in the TCU, which you can check..but that's another story here perhaps).
    • Question for people who "know stuff" I am looking at doing the new intake like the one in the picture (the pictured is designed for the OEM TB and intake plenum), this design has the filter behind the front bar, but, the filter sits where the OEM duct heads into the front bar, and the standard aperture when the OEM ducting is removed allows the filter to pulled back out of the front bar into the engine bay for servicing, a simple blanking plate is used to seal the aperture behind the filter This will require a 45° silicone hose from the TB, like the alloy pipe that is currently there, to another 45° silicone hose to get a straight run to the aperture in the front bar Question: how will it effect the tune if I move the MAF about 100-150mm forward, the red is around where my MAF is currently, and the green would be where it would end up Like this This is the hole the filter goes through  Ends up like this LOL..Cheers
    • Despite the level up question, actually I do know what that is....it is a pressure sender wire.  So check out around the oil filter for an oil pressure sender, or maybe fuel pressure near the filter or on the engine. Possibly but less likely coolant pressure sensor because they tend to be combined temp/pressure senders if you have one. Could also be brake pressure (in a brake line somewhere pre ABS) but maybe I'm the only one that has that on a skyline.
    • Pull codes via the self-diagnosis procedure. As far as I can tell this is just a sign of transmission issues but not a code unto itself.
