RB20 heads are shit on RB30 fyi :)

Tommy Kaira M30 was pretty cool wasnt it? It had an RB20/30. The 177kw aint fantastic but almost 300nm of torque in a relatively light car is pretty awesome considering it was NA. I certainly wouldnt say no to an M30 if for no other reason than the investment value.

Are you sure about that as the rb20 has a smaller bore and so it would require machining to allow it to fit an rb30

Pretty sure: I have seen an M30 for sale in a magazine in Japan and wikipedia has it listed under RB30DE http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nissan_RB_engine

if japan disliked the R33's then they would be nonstop vomitting as we speak at the new V35 skylines, comes with a gay "westernized" NA v6. they pretty much gave the ball away, not dropped it on that one.

So your saying the 350z is gay too? The V and the R are just different type of cars. The VQ engine is probably the one of the best N/A V sixers around just like the RB is one of the best turbo inline 6s. They are different and great in their own ways. If a daily wasn't what I was after I would have bought the R32/R33 as they are more focused and hardcore. The V is much more refined and suits better as a daily but also not far off the mark in terms of performance. And this is the market that the V was aiming for.

My opinions after having owned a few of these cars

The R33 in series one form looks so shit from the front, bad grill, bad front bar, bad headlights, Inside everything feels cheap and is a bit flat and bland. Essentially this is a quintessential mid 90s car from a styling point of view. Great engine, gearbox, handling ect. Also looks good from any angle other than front on.

The R32 looks good from the front looks shoite from the back, I never had a RB20 in mine so never had to deal with the issues related to that, but i have driven a few rb20 R32s and they were very different and i personally did not like it. Inside the R32 had a better feel to it, switchgear, seats ect all feel like they are of higher quality despite being older.

To my eye all the GTRs look good

ande there we have it my 2c lol

The VQ engines had terrible fuel economy though. Much worse than the RB engines of the day.

Are you sure you didn't mean VG? VQ engines are excellent all round. Great economy vs. engine size.

I personally think the RB drinks more fuel vs. engine size.

n/a vs. n/a

I think that wiki is wrong the rb30de they made would have had a rb25 head on it

The ports on a rb20 are so small they make the same power as the rb30 sohc head

I dont think the RB25 was being produced when they made the M30, I am pretty sure it is a green top RB20/30.

Check this site http://www.banpei.net/blog/flyrat-tommy-kaira-m30

and this pic from that website of an M30 bay

RB25DE head from an R32? Don't know if the intake manifold etc looks like the RB20 one like that one does.

Have a look at the two intake manifolds (20 on the left), the RB20 is much closer to the M30 than the RB25. The M30 has the throttle position etc reversed from the other RB20 but apart from that there isnt much difference. Its gotta be a 20.

Another +1. The problem with most imports in general is that too many dickheads without a fkn clue ruin the car with GAY bodykits and wheels where in most cases the car looks better in stock factory condition!

Also LOL big to most of this thread!

    • So, version 4 intake is on its way I was looking at these a while ago but at around $200 or more it was a little pricey for something that might not work, but, I had it in my watch list, but, I got a message saying it was on special, and I had a code thingie to use, it eventually came in at $120 delivered, so BAM, BUY NOW.....LOL I'll need to have a look when it arrives but I feel it will "look" better than what I currently have, as it comes with a PCV fitting, so I will be able to get rid of the alloy pipe that goes to the throttle body with the PCV fitting  Well, that's what the voices in my head are telling me  Oh, and this happened today Yeap, it was a Trojan, and it was cheap, so I headed back to the hardware store and actually spent a little bit more on a heavy duty,  one that was actually recommended by a plumber mate, a Cyclone one with a fibreglass handle that is actually rated for clay The broken shovel will eventually be "modified" into a short handle shovel
    • When you pulled it off, there is no signs of blown head gasket? Is it possible you have some other issues going on? Possible cracked blocked? Or do you think it's straight up lifting the head? Did you check what the head was torqued to before pulling it down (To see if possibly they're stretching, or starting to break threads out etc)?
    • Seems like a decent result for a modded JZX110. They are bulky in comparison to the 100 and 90 models (which I'd prefer myself) but they are getting very few and far between here in JP these days. Thanks for the detailed review and the import process into the UK. I also have a car which I'm hoping to export from Japan at some stage so it's good to know if someone from the UK was interested in it. By the way the corrosion underneath is par for the course for cars which were located in/near the mountains or along the Japan sea coastline. They get huge amounts of snow every winter and the sodium chloride is used on the roads. Many cars have some kind of rubber like treatment underneath but they tend to limit it to the wheel arches underbody and fuel tank. Suspension arms and sub-frames will have similar corrosion to your JZX110 which is a common sight. See it all the time and car dealers here generally don't even mention it unless asked.
    • If the sound goes away when you clutch in, the 1.5/2 way diffs are just shit, and you are a normal person. The diff is likely "fine" but driving at anything under 30kmh is a violent horrible experience. It would be exaggerated with solid diff bushings and subframe bushings if you have those.
