Hmmm, I think I may be in for this.

I'll see if my mate wants to bring his XR8 too.

Anyone wanna think about arranging a cruise up? Meet somewhere north, like Campbellfield, at around 6am?

Anyone know generally what time these things wrap up? I have to be back in Melb by about 6pm for my bros GFs birthday.

How does this sound for a meet:

Where - BP Northpoint Servo (aka the Oasis) corner of Cooper Street and Hume Freeway - Please note Hume FREEWAY, not Hume HIGHWAY

Time - 5:45am for a 6:00am SHARP takeoff - it's still a 2h15min trip from here, so we will want to get on the road at 6am sharp to allow time for a fuel stop near Winton and an 8:30am arrival.

What do people reckon? Happy to modify details if you can come up with something better. If a few people say yes, I'll lock it in and post up my mobile number as a contact for people on the day. Please note, this will be my first track day so I don't know anything more than you about the day in it's self. I'm only trying to piece together the cruise up there.

not sure what time they wrap up...this be my first track event

meet point sounds good to me...be good to cruise up as a group

and i found this info on the website bout the day, hope it helps u guys out http://www.wintonmotorraceway.com.au/home/...20day%20faq.pdf

Worse comes to worse you can always leave early when you have to in order to get back by 6. Just a question if we cruise up there as a group are we going to use citylink so as people can be prepared if we are.

Way to hijack my thread Aaron!!!! Like I said in my original post: If there's enough interest I will organise a cruise. Gaaaawwwd, way to steal my cruise :) :)

You can leave the day whenever you want, car's can go in every round if you want, the only alternating is passanger, non-passanger. But you won't want to go in every one, it's hard work concentrating.

ps can hook up good helmets for $100 if anyone needs :)

If you want something done right, do it yourself :)

Hey Charlie, how about we meet at the BP on the corner of the Hume Freeway and Cooper Street at around 5:45am with a 6:00am leaving time?

Just a suggestion :)

If you stay later in the day you'll get more track time. Mornings suck.

Better off to pass scrutineering and check in then go have breakfast and have a go after every other car overheats or breaks something.

I think you've pretty much got it covered Aaron, I might stay in Shepparton and get some beauty sleep :D but please please come and say hi, will be there with the white R34 GTT and white Subi B4, I most likely won't recognise anyone so you better all recognise me!

I'm 90% going at this stage. My mate has shown interest.

We'll be the black R33/Blue XR8 combo, and everyone else assuming it all goes to plan :)

I'll make sure I track you down at some stage.

nah man, just rock up on the day a far as im aware. it would pay to get there fairly early as i expect it will fill up

I think I'll be able to pick you charli

Should be up for the cruise too. If I don't have some reason to get up early I won't get there 'til lunchtime.

Hi,

Do you happen to remember what the latest checkin time is?

I remember rocking up pretty late last time, around 11AM, and it was still very busy, I didn't find any SAU people so left. And then I found out the next day the track gets better around 1-2PM :P

Well, my mate and I are 100%.

The cruise will be as I suggested earlier but I'll reiterate here:

Meet point is the BP on the corner of the Hume FREEWAY and Cooper St. Again, note Freeway, not Highway - I'll be in a black R33 and my mate a blue XR8.

5:45am (or earlier) arrival and we will be leaving at 6am sharp. That should see us there by a comfortable 9am (probably earlier, but we'll take it easy - I like having my license intact )

~30 minute stop at Maccas in Benella @ around 8am for breakfast and petrol before arriving at Winton ~8:45am

My mobile number is 0418 994 629 and my name is Aaron.

If you are intending on joining the cruse but are running a touch late on the day, gimme a call and we'll wait. Note: we won't wait any longer than 15 minutes for stragglers. The cruise will be at the speed limit so you can try and make up some time by going faster, but that is at your own peril! Gimme a call when on the road and I'll slow us back 10kph if you are really keen to catch up.

I've set pretty conservative times which means we won't need to push it and we can be flexible for people wanting to join along the way.

For me this say is all about fun and it's no fun when people lose licenses or crash cars so pleeeeeeeeeease keep that in mind. Not only does it ruin your day but it ruins everyone's day.

Also, shit happens, so if you are wanting to join the cruise somewhere other than Cooper St or are running late, don't hesitate to give me a call.

I don't have a CB or radio so communication along the way will be via mobile. Before leaving I'll tag a lead and a sweeper (probably myself lead and my mate sweeper) so we don't get lost and so no one gets left behind.

Again, this day is about FUN!

If we could get a yes or a no here on whether you wish to come with us and where you'll meet, that'd be great (just so we have a rough idea who to wait for and the like). Also happy to take suggestions on routes, times and such if you think there's a better way to go about the cruise.

Me (Aaron)

    • I guess one thing that might be wrong is the manifold pressure.  It is a constant -5.9 and never moves even under 100% throttle and load.  I would expect it to atleast go to 0 correct?  It's doing this with the OEM MAP as well as the ECU vacuum sensor. When trying to tune the base map under load the crosshairs only climb vertically with RPM, but always in the -5.9 column.
    • AHHHH gotchaa, I'll do that once I am home again. I tried doing the harness with the multimeter but it seems the car needed a jump, there was no power when it was in the "ON" position. Not sure if I should use car battery jump starter or if its because the stuff that has been disconnect the car just does send power.
    • As far as I can tell I have everything properly set in the Haltech software for engine size, injector data, all sensors seem to be reporting proper numbers.  If I change any injector details it doesnt run right.    Changing the base map is having the biggest change in response, im not sure how people are saying it doesnt really matter.  I'm guessing under normal conditions the ECU is able to self adjust and keep everything smooth.   Right now my best performance is happening by lowering the base map just enough to where the ECU us doing short term cut of about 45% to reach the target Lambda of 14.7.  That way when I start putting load on it still has high enough fuel map to not be so lean.  After 2500 rpm I raised the base map to what would be really rich at no load, but still helps with the lean spots on load.  I figure I don't have much reason to be above 2500rpm with no load.  When watching other videos it seems their target is reached much faster than mine.  Mine takes forever to adjust and reach the target. My next few days will be spent making sure timing is good, it was running fine before doing the ECU and DBW swap, but want to verify.  I'll also probably swap in the new injectors I bought as well as a walbro 255 pump.
    • It would be different if the sealant hadn't started to peel up with gaps in the glue about ~6cm and bigger in some areas. I would much prefer not having to do the work take them off the car . However, the filler the owner put in the roof rack mount cavities has shrunk and begun to crack on the rail delete panels. I cant trust that to hold off moisture ingress especially where I live. Not only that but I have faded paint on as well as on either side of these panels, so they would need to come off to give the roofline a proper respray. My goal is to get in there and put a healthy amount of epoxy instead of panel filler/bog and potentially skin with carbon fiber. I have 2 spare rolls from an old motorcycle fairing project from a few years back and I think it'd be a nice touch on a black stag.  I've seen some threads where people replace their roof rack delete with a welded in sheet metal part. But has anyone re-worked the roof rails themselves? It seems like there is a lot of volume there to add in some threads and maybe a keyway for a quick(er) release roof rack system. Not afraid to mill something out if I have to. It would be cool to have a cross bar only setup. That way I can keep the sleek roofline that would accept a couple bolts to gain back that extra utility  3D print some snazzy covers to hide the threaded section to be thorough and keep things covered when not using the rack.
    • Probably not. A workshop grade scantool is my go to for proper Consult interrogation. Any workshop grade tool should do it. Just go to a workshop.
