Hi Fellas,

Currently running Kumho KU31s 265/35 18 on the rears (With 18x9 +22 wheels), however, it has a lot of negative camber, and I am loosing a lot of traction

My issues is:

I got camber kits for my car, however, the space between my current rear tyres and the guard is only about 7mm.

My soulution: (Let me know if you think this is good)

For this reason, I was thinking of getting Toyo R888 in 255 35 18 (Slightly smaller) which are a lot stickier and will give me more room to play with the camber.

Should this resolve a lot of my traction issues?

Let me know what you guys think.

Cheers.

Sorry fellas,

I forgot to mention that i heard that semi slick tyres, even though they may have a smaller road surface (i.e. 265 normal tyre vs 255 semi slick) that the semi slick may still be wider, is this correct?

Hi fellas,

Would it be better to get 245 40 18 R888 with a more positive camber?

I doubt the 245 R888 would have more width than my KU31s in 265?

Then again, is there a big difference between 245 semi slick vs 265 road tyre? (I mean, road tyre has less grip, but it's wider - Not setup correctly but...)

Not too worried about the KMs I get from the tyres I only travel about 20KM a day in it. Plus, they'd probably be stickier once they start to wear out (In the dry)

CHeers

yes and no as the semi slick ages it losses its grip level unless it is rapped up and coted with a paint like thing

the compound that makes the tyre so sticky will leve the tyre and make it hard and you will not have the grip u shoud have

Some tyre manufacturers publish tread width spec on the web - see what you can find. IIRC you want 0 deg camber at the rear for max traction, and r spec circuit tyres wont be the best option for straight line traction. Maybe ask in the drag forum for a suggestion on a street legal tyre??

I swear so many of your problems could be solved with a cheap daily runaround..

A race engine doing 20kms a day it just aint right...you have built a car thats almost trackworthy take it to the track where it belongs and you wont have to worry about things like camber wear and excessive fuel consumption...Well you will but it will be justified

Motors that are built to go as hard as yours dont like to be putted around on daily commutes, actually they really hate it. Over time they clog up and just dont run right

What they do like however is to be warmed up and driven hard , stretch their legs and breath

Do us all a favour man buy a barina for work take your real car to the track and treat it like a whore..Get it on cam then youtube that shit....PLEASE!!! :)

Maybe Its time to take it to the next level..

Peace out

EDIT*.was old thread searching laat night and found threads from a few years ago ,U had just started modding your car...Bug bit you pretty hard hey :) ..

    • Hi...so a "development" here aswell The swap is "done" and car went "test drive" BUT it seems the clutch(maybe gearbox?) is a little bit sad? I bought this clutch kit https://justjap.com/products/xtreme-heavy-duty-organic-clutch-flywheel-kit-nissan-skyline-r31-r32-r33-push-type "Problem" is that the first gear is hard to put into and it seems that the clutch is not disengaged. It was not the problem with the old clutch...(or like sometime the first gear would not get as easy specialy when the fluid was cold) So? Can it be like...bad "install" or is the clutch wrong ((it should not have been) i done research to get the right one) Or is this "normal" with new clutch and needs to be break in?
    • @Duncan I can try  and thanks i did not thought about VIN and part numbers for 33/34. @GTSBoy yeah it looks like iam gonna do that
    • Forgot to include this but this is the mid section of my steering rack that looks like it has a thread/can be turned with that notch mentioned in the post:
    • Hey everyone, Wanted to pick some brains about this issue I'm having with rebuilding my 33 rack (PN is 49001-19U05). All of the tutorials/videos I've seen online are either R34 or S Chassis racks which seem to be pretty straightforward to disassemble but this process doesnt carry over to my rack. Few of the key differences that I've noted The pinion shaft on the other racks bolt on with 3 torx bolts: Whereas my rack bolts on with 2 allen head bolts: These changes are pretty inconsequential but the main difference is how you pull the actual rack out of the housing. The other skyline/s chassis racks can be taken out by tapping the rack out of the body with a socket and it just slides right out. I'm unable to do that with my rack because there's a hard stop at the end that doesn't let the seal/shaft be tapped out. Can also see a difference in the other end of the rack where mine has a notch that looks like you're able to use a big wrench to unthread 2 halves of the rack whereas the other racks are just kinda set in with a punch. My rack: Other racks: TLDR; Wanted to know if anyone has rebuilt this specific model of steering rack for the R33 and if there were any steps to getting it done easier or if I should just give this to a professional to get done. Sorry if this post is a bit messy, first one I've done.
    • I would just put EBC back on the "I would not use their stuff" pile and move on.
