  • 2 months later...

did a few things to the c210 the last couple of weeks, put drivers side window in, and fixed the loose flywheel bolts to find what i thought was a stock clutch, to be a exedy HD item so pretty impressed with that...

just need windscreen and some s13 rear and dr30 front suspension to lower it than on the road she goes..

sounds awesome running sweet with the big lumpy cam..

hmm wow didn't know that, prety kweel that they made em for the stock clutch for the datsun, their a good product

its a heavy duty clutch don't think that would be a standard item..

ill get some better pix up when it got sussy and lower.. :D

ohh yea want some trumpets for the stok SU anyone got a link or know of anywhere...

thanx

Good luck! With those spring rates, you're never going to stop it going into a corner on our roads. Even Queensland roads aren't that good and if you can't stop, your investment is heading straight for the scrap yard.

D

not for under $2000

and the R31 rear suspension is basically the same if its IRS or not, just the stroke length is different

I agree about the spring rates!

You will get cracks in the welds in the chassis, seen it many times on the old girls.

I've been told that exedy was the factory stock clutches for C210's

Most Datsuns of that era had Exedy clutches.

And cut your spring rate by 50% at least - if you want the car to survive in one piece.

If you want an R180 LSD, then go for a Subaru conversion. I think you can get Quaife centres for the R180, but they aren't cheap at the best of times.

i think i should be right with the spring rates at how low the car will sit and the width of the wheels ill be running...i dont drive like a bogan..if its too hard spring rates when i drive it, ill get sum lesser kilos to fit and keep the others for track or whateever. springs arent that dear can have heaps of different sets at different heights etc...

all i know it will be stiff as..low.. with 15inch deep dished steelies until i can afford some enkei focus, hoshinos etc from japan..

and changed my mind on the nismo lsd as they are quite god damn dear, prob just get cusco, or tomeii centre for around 1kish landed..

mmmmmm!!!!! :D

I suppose we're all dumb asses here ?????????????????

9k front, 8k rear, 15" deep dish etc etc etc and you're not going to drive it like a bogan ?????? Your 25 and live on the Gold Coast and your not going to act like every other young Skyline driver on the Gold Coast, mmmmm!!!!!!!!!! Something doesn't compute here.

Have you ever heard of balance? Do you know what the factory constants are?? Do you know how heavy the car is???

Have you ever driven a car like racsov500 suggests on Australian roads????

Be interesting to see your response, because it sure looks like you know more than us about what your asking, so why bother in the first place.

man i didnt say shit. i just wnated to put my car up here and see what everyone thought... cheers for ya shit comments by the way gohstrider...and yes i have driven on the road in 14kg front and 8kg rear in a jzx90, and gx70 had 9kg and 6.5kg, and use to own a ceffy with 16kg front an 12kg rear.. so yes ghostrider you could say i have had time on australian roads to see what springs rates work and dont work...

and on another note im from sunshine coast not goldy so before u put negative comments down think to urself...am i being a dick...if the answer YES, slap yourself and walk away from the computer.. cause i certainly dont care what u have to say if ur str8 onto the negative comment train..

i know racsov500 well and he knows his shit and loves oldskool skylines like me... all ive heard about u ghostrider is that you write gay shit on other ppls pages, so save me the courtesy and FUUUUK off...

now can we get back to the topic of my gc210...

thanx

wow seriously... Why start an argument on spring rates? And secondly, then go and throw personal attacks?

2 words: c*nt act. Lol. This guy does not derserve a single thing you said to him dennis.

Please dont forget that cars are fun! Woo! cars!! And also, our classic skyline community is very small and the only way it will survive is if we're tight as f*ck. Not flaming noobs!

I drive my sil with 8kg springs and dampers set half-way. Pretty rough ride i agree but i like it rough :) meo-w!

If you put stiff suspension in, you deal with it. And more often than not, love it.

Personal preference imo.

Nice car man. I would have bought it no question but i didnt have anywhere to put the damn thing. Lucky boy!

We should hit maleny/cono once you get the suspension done mate :(

dude, its a 30 year old skyline, not a time attack car. just bolting in some cheap s13 suspension will make its considerably lower, stiffer, better handling and have height adjustablity. if you think stock stuff handles better, then maybe its you that needs to drive a car with stiff coilovers

    • I wasn’t able to replicate the sound anymore. It was a one time sound so maybe it was just coincidence but it was like small pebbles being dropped in a coke can.   should I try cleaning the MAF? It could be it’s functioning but dirty? I don’t know.
    • Update 4: Hi all. The car drives again! Haven't driven for long, only to store it in the garage again, but the test drive was successful. The coolant and oil leaks seem to be fixed for now. Temps on the engine were also very good, while moving I never even saw 80C water during the approx. 30 minute drive. Ate up all the coolant in the reservoir though so will have to fill that even more when I go to the car next time. One thing that pisses me off is that the RPM gauge is still f**ked, I even resoldered the board twice and used copper paste on the silly screws that are used as connections. Next time I take it out I'll take apart the board and fit new components, I'll see if I can get a replacement IC for it.  I have an appointment set for 22nd of September for the engine tune to 370hp. Alignment also still needs to be done. My hope is that I can get all the legal stuff over with by the end of this season. Anyone of you have advice regarding intercoolers? Currently there is an APEXI core fitted, one of those weird hybrid ones, 600x270x76. I don't think it's bad but it's not new and now I still have the chance to change it now to legally include it in the paperwork. Only issue is that the only options that would arrive in time are a HKS Type R intercooler or generic Ebay spec intercoolers comparable to a JustJap one. Ideally I'd order a Plazmaman but it takes over a month to receive which would mean making the car legal has to wait until next season. Would love to hear some input on this. Same story for my injectors, the previous owner was a nunce and put ID 1050x on the engine. They work but are obviously not ideal at "normal" power levels. But I don't see a reason to change them unless the tuner says it's necessary. I read online before buying a different exhaust that the top secret style rear diffusers won't fit due to the size of the rear resonators. My buddy and I made it work by slightly "adjusting the shape" of the mounting bracket and making some spacers out of 3d print for the mounting bolts. Fits like a charm. Just putting this here in case someone has this problem. Even the hefty HKS Silent Hi Power rear can fits without hitting anything.
    • Well they got my money but they are not getting my gearbox !
    • It's needed for rolling idle up, and I think it is a decider on VCT also.
    • I mean, not really. Link ECU's can absolutely still have errors from the ECU thinking it's getting a sensor it's not expecting. I would imagine the speed at the ECU level in Nistune does absolutely nothing anyway? I assume the ECU does not do any fancy TC stuff with regards to front+rear wheel speed or anything of that like anyway. Someone who uses Nistune may be more fluent in it.
