mate of mine has limited use on his old 1940's harley. it's limited to a number of kms. something like 4000kms a year, or maybe it's only 400kms, or something like that, but i know it's not much, but it's not the sort of bike you would ride far anyway. it's a bit of a collectors item.

I don't think $2200 is too bad for Sydney.... is that with 60% NCB? And at least you can pay by the month with no extra charge at Shannons.

Also the price drop is pretty fair, i would almost say that $23500 is still a bit overpriced, so i think you're doing ok there!

I was thinking the same thing. for your age, location, car, mods, history of 2 recent speeding infringements etc your premium is on the cheap side if anything. reducing the agreed value by $6500 to net a $200 premium saving is actually pretty good too.

as shell said, what is your NCB %?

and same as blitz, I remember insuring a bloody GTI-R pulsar in 2002 which was worth about $23K back then and it was about $4000 a year!!!

Dawes: $1600 premium, $750 excess with all mods listed. Sounds good right! WRONG.. there is a special clause that says that my car HAS to be parked in my lock up garage between 10pm and 5am. Thats what they call "Overnight" If its parked anywhere else between those hours and something happens it isn't covered. E.g. 10:30pm I drop into a mates place or park at a servo or even perhaps macca's and some fool drives into my car or its gets stolen and I'm F**ked. I'm not about to take that risk especially since i occasionally drive and stay at mates places and or to my parents place 5 hours away and can't exactly get back to my garage every night.

Just to clarify this point, you are "not covered" only if the car is parked within 500 metres of your "overnight" address, because they consider it reasonable for you to have the car parked at your "overnight" address within this distance. Famous car insurance also has this policy, others may also but only list it in their pds (if you check Dawes PDS it also states this).

    • Sorry to hear your HFM BM57 was faulty,  did you contact HFM I would hope they would be at least grateful for the information if there was some sort of manufacturing fault, you would hope they would be sympathetic even if your item was 2 years old if it had never been fitted. May I ask where it leaked from ?
    • Cats are called Bella, and Donna...  Like that poisonous plant And I remember your 2 monsters, I remember making a little bit of wee when you let them out... LOL I have already installed cat doors into the laundry where their kitty litter is, and the sun room, apart from the cat doors there's not going to be any permanent mounted stuff on the interior walls (interior doors are cheap and easy to replace) I will get a outdoor cat cage thingie once I finish the landscaping out back... https://catnip.com.au/ The only off limit areas are the main bedroom and the gym room....but, currently the cats are curled up in bed, in the main bedroom with the Mrs.....LOL, the off limits for the kittens to the main bedroom lasted about 5 minutes with Jackie I currently only have 1 free standing huge cat tree multiple level scratching post thingie in the lounge room, but, I will be getting another one soon now that I'm happy with the furniture layout in the back room and have a perfect spot for it
    • All of this is making it seem clear that running the Coppermix twin was definitely the way to go, especially in hindsight with how insane tariffs have gotten and the strength of the USD vs yen at the time.
    • That sounds like no chance of even importing one for road registering then Now I see why Duncan wants to check LHD rules for Targa...   I wonder how "bolt in" the AWD would be if you got one imported from the US and swapped it to an AUD one
    • Not to mention they drive like a bucket of bolts! yuck!
