Steve, i think the reason why some people find the results abit fishy is because there have been a few cars with high hp power readings with no track time or not equivalent times with less then the usual mph. Every one has different views and im just writing what i seem to notice.

ps: jezrrr great results from such little modifications.

Cant deacrease scanned image of dyno graph sizue enough to attach.

Its a nice power curve though.

I will get 300RWKW out of these turbos BUt first need bigger injectors (currently running at 90% max) and will be getting stage 1 HKS cams (264 int 264 ext).

May upgrade to GTSS turbos later but want to see what I can get out of the stockers which, in the GTR 34's, are steel wheels and ball bearing.

you never mentioned what boost you guys ran? I't would be good to see the dyno, & your af ratios also..

ps: steve... so touchy mate :relax: like you say, we here are probably just a bunch of keyboard warriors :D no hard feelings... it makes for a good comparison when we can compare apples with apples....! not dyno queens running 20psi on stock turbos, with af ratio's bordering detonation... that's all..!

Dont mean to interupt your thread but seeing as tho i got a 34 i thought it would be good to compare results.....I got 245kw with 1 bar boost, ganador cat back pipe, japanese "Sift" rewritten ecu...the rest was all standard...i then fitted HKS manifolds,HKS dumps,GT2530's and a trust plenum and at 1.1 bar boost got 298kw.Now fitted HKS cams and gears havent fitted the engine yet so havent dynoed yet....still has the standard front pipe which i will replace after a short dyno run when its running again

but want to see what I can get out of the stockers which, in the GTR 34's, are steel wheels and ball bearing.

Jeremy

Be careful about that assumption though they are ball bearing....

Cheers

Ken

I am running 1.2 bar of boost.

The turbos are safe at that level. "Mr HKS" has acheived some awesome ressults on his R33 GTR. He is getting 421 RWHP with GT SS's @ 1.1 bar of boost !! He has some very nice other mods but is not even running hot cams. He was getting 400 RWHP before moving to the GTSS's so theres some room for improvement.

jeremy

Ken,

ive heard different things about whether theyre steel or not but the consensus is that they are at least from what ive been told

Jeremy

N1's yes , std no.

btw , that came from Mr Jun when I was talking to him about some R34 terbs at Speedworks about 12mths ago

Cheers

Ken

my r34 gtr made 248rwks with mines ecu, pods, exhaust and 1.2bar.

ran 12.8 at 109mph at willowbank with 1.90 60 ft... but didnt really pull that well top end with the mapping in the mines ecu...

so your 278rwks is great , should do a mid 12 if you launch it hard...

since then have gone a little silly fitted hks2530's & hks dumps, 700cc sard, nismo fuel pump and reg.z32afms and super induction kit, power fc....

hope for high 11 or low 12 now even on close to base map in the power fc.

i will be going to the track soon if it stops raining in brisbane everyday....

I will be launching it hard but will have to wait till the HKS twin plate arrives. Those times are pretty decent, what pwoer are you getting now with the 2530's, did you consider the GTSS's ?

Gav Beer from these forums R32 R made 272rwhp on my dyno and ran 12.7, Ask him.

An R33GTS made 306rwhp and ran 12.3. GOTBOOST from this forum ran high 11s in his GTS with 344rwhp on my dyno.PSI2FLY ran 11.5 in a Silvia with 360rwhp.Ian balls SR powered rail ran 8.5 with with 302rwhp, Glen robinsons ford ran 9.1@156mph with 420rwhp in a 1300kg car.Geoff clarks Charger ran 11.4@114mph with 307rwhp,The 1UZ powered Celica from Zoom last year ran 9.1 with 522rwhp as a street car.A XC falcon street car ran 11.18 with 312rwhp,A GTS ran 13.4 last weds with 270rwhp,ND4SPDs Datto 1600 made 440rwhp and ran 11.7@130mph with wild wheelspin and his GTR ran 11.4 with 387rwhp.Simon Nattalotto from this forum ran high 12s with 285rwhp in his GTS, Racetunes Escort ran 13.2 with 170rwhp.Neil rassmussens 2.2 ton 4wd urvan ran 14 with 300rwhp etc etc etc plus we have 20years of outstanding track and rally results so the Dynos very accurate.

how do you like them apples, :(

(meshmesh not having a go just couldnt resist that one liner)

Hi guys Steve-SST has kindly posted some interesting times and power for Skylines (I have taken the liberty of adding rwkw for the metric minded). If we pick out say 5 Skyline examples and we all put down our own personal experiences, maybe we can shed some light on this……

1. “An R33GTS made 306rwhp (240 rwkw) and ran 12.3.”

2. “GOTBOOST from this forum ran high 11s in his GTS with 344rwhp (260 rwkw) on my dyno”

3. “A GTS ran 13.4 last weds with 270rwhp (205 rwkw)”

4. “GTR ran 11.4 with 387rwhp (290 rwkw)”

5. “Simon Nattalotto from this forum ran high 12s with 285rwhp (215 rwkw) in his GTS”

How does this compare with others’ experiences? No BS please, real timeslip and dyno numbers only.

As an update - Ive just come back from racepace where my car produced 255rwkw @ 15psi boost. We didnt want to increase the boost right now as the car is heading out to Phillip Island next weekend and 15psi is safe for the stock turbo's there.

But there was a power increase of 20rwkw when we upped the boost from 14psi to 15psi so I could see a figure very similar to that produced by jezzrrr @ 1.2bar.

So I got a nice 77rwkw gain by changing over to the power fc, adjusting the cam gears and a slight increase in boost. Very happy with that. And the power delivery is so smooth now. :P

LOL - your car has taken longer than mine. And it was still in bits this morning! My car was meant to be there LAST tuesday but only made it today. So good luck with getting it there on Friday! :P

Dyno took a couple of hours I guess. Didnt pay 100% attention to exactly how long as we were there for ages (I had to run Gerald around to try and find a M7 bolt) plus the cams hadn't been adjusted or the power fc fitted before we got there. And Im not sure as to cost considering I've also had a new clutch, plugs, oil cooler and pads as well as the power fc and cams fitted this last fortnight - and Im not sure of the exact individual breakdown of costs involved. I just know Im broke now.

    • No, code 21 is very straightforward. It can only be the things described in that diagnostic flow. In fact it has no way of knowing that the spark plug resistance is out of spec.
    • Hi, SteveL Thank you very much for your reply, you seem to be the only person on the net who has come up with a definitive answer for which I am grateful. The "Leak" was more by way of wet bubbles when the pedal was depressed hard by a buddy while trying to gey a decent pedal when bleeding the system having fitted the rebuilt BM50 back in the car, which now makes perfect sense. A bit of a shame having just rebuilt my BM50, I did not touch the proportioning valve side of things, the BM50 was leaking from the primary piston seal and fluid was running down the the Brake booster hence the need to rebuild, I had never noticed any fluid leaking from that hole previously it only started when I refitted it to the car. The brake lines in the photo are "Kunifer" which is a Copper/Nickel alloy brake pipe, but are only the ones I use to bench bleed Master cylinders, they are perfectly legal to use on vehicles here in the UK, however the lines on the car are PVF coated steel. Thanks again for clearing this up for me, a purchase of a new BMC appears to be on the cards, I have been looking at various options in case my BM50 was not repairable and have looked at the HFM BM57 which I understand is manufactured in Australia.
    • Well the install is officially done. Filled with fluid and bled it today, but didn't get a chance to take it on a test drive. I'll throw some final pics of the lines and whatnot but you can definitely install a DMAX rack in an R33 with pretty minor mods. I think the only other thing I had to do that isn't documented here is grind a bit of the larger banjo fitting to get it to clear since the banjos are grouped much tighter on the DMAX rack. Also the dust boots from a R33 do not fit either fyi, so if you end up doing this install for whatever reason you'll need to grab those too. One caveat with buying the S15 dust boots however is that the clamps are too small to fit on the R33 inner tie rod since they're much thicker so keep the old clamps around. The boots also twist a bit when adjusting toe but it's not a big deal. No issues or leaks so far, steering feels good and it looks like there's a bit more lock now than I had before. Getting an alignment on Saturday so I'll see how it feels then but seems like it'll be good to go
