Don't sell your car because of that incident.

In reality your car is comparable to any camry out there. If the popo are going to pick on you for your car they have some serious issues.

Yet you got other P platers in bog stock commondoors, fjord falcons, V6 magnas and aurions pushing much more power....

You don't seem to be running a kebab spec vehicle either....

There is nothing illegal about it by the sounds of things.

I'd probably want to change the plate numbers to stock plates or something not too "aggressive" - un-fortunately most of society (ACA and TT veiwers) out there would deem your number plates "aggressive".

Most people who know nothing about skylines have no idea how big the difference is between a stock R34 GT to a GTR.

I have a theory - once people (other drivers) see the 4 stove tops glow - it brings out the worst in them. You get young parents and people in their 40s wanting to drag you in what ever vechicle they have... Maybe because they have never had the chance to drive a skyline/GTR or it reminds them of their lost/wasted youth or maybe the "Skyline/GTR" name represents something that is "un-beatable/the best" so people that have small man syndrome get really p*ssed of when driving around in their Kluger or CX7 with their 2.5 kids in the back :(

Ok guys, just to update. I got my infringement in the mail.

A few things to note;

-He didn't spell my surname correctly.

-The speed limit is still wrong on the street.

-Alleged speed: 100 Detected speed: 100 (notice no use of a radar or device to detect speed or there would be 3/3% speed reduction).

-No information about the offence.

Getting the lawyer on the phone tonight. Wish me luck =]

Same thing pretty much happened to me last year, resulted in my car being impounded and heading off to court in 2 weeks, although likely to get shafted as magically "four" officers all saw "wheelspin, a street race," and various other things. They blew not doing a hookturn totally out of proportion pretty much just because they can. These hoon laws are rubbish.

I would fight it as it is total injustice however it is going to cost me $1600 for a lawyer if I plead guilty, just don't have the money to waste as a uni student to fight it so really they'll get away with it and do it to some other kid, where they'll just do the same as me and it'll just keep happening.

Chin up mate, i am remaining hopeful that the judge will come to a sensible decision and not just simply take the side of an officer purely going off by word.

If i can win this case then i will prove even p platers stand a chance at defending themselves if they are targeted by cops, not just skyline drivers - when they have done nothing wrong.

  • 8 months later...

Rooks rd is a 50 zone.. If you want to avoid police stay out of rooks rd.. They have an unmarked police station just over the train tracks toward whitehorse rd. I think it's just offices and a place to store cop cars.

Can you pm me the officers name as I had a very similar attitude/incident happen to me in the same location.

they have some massive breathos and sometimes defects right out the front of nunawading... as they have that service rd on maroondah highway, so its an ideal spot

I too have been stopped multiple times down rooks rd and station st there..... I think some ppl go there at night and be stupid due to the wide roads and the factories around..

Theres one set of factories down a street around there, that is basically set around a square and very wide road... so I can see why people would be tempted.

    • Just trying to get my head around this. At 5psi of boost, you turn on your wmi pump, and then you're using a 3000cc injector, to allow flow upto the actual engine, where you have your 6x200cc injectors and a 500cc injector. If the above is correct, what advantage are you obtaining by having the 3000cc injector blocking flow, is this just incase a line breaks between that injector and the motor you can stop flow immediately? Or are the 6x200cc and 500cc less injectors and just spray nozzle?
    • Welcome! New member myself, but I had an R33 back in 2002. Best advice I could give, based on my experience: if you're running the factory turbo, be very conservative with boost. I made the mistake of just fiddling around with the boost controller and cranking the boost for fun, and the end result was my intake pipes popping off frequently from the constant deluge of oil that was being blown into the recirc by the stressed-out turbo, which itself was siphoning oil from the engine and farting it out both sides of its centre bearing (or something to that effect). If I could do it all again, I would have gotten a new turbo and had a tune dialled in professionally and then just left it alone! Funny you mention the metal shavings in the gearbox, as I had the same thing - the probe plug (magnetic drain plug, essentially) would come out caked with shavings. At least it was doing its job. Not sure if that's just sacrificial wear and part of the deal, or if my gearbox was shagged, but I wasn't abusing it. Enjoy the R33 - they're a dying breed, and if they weren't $35k+ on CarSales in Queensland, I might have picked up one of those again, instead of the 370GT I own now (though I'm loving the 370GT, that big 3.7L V6 just hits different).
    • Howdy folks. I owned an R33 back in 2002, which was thoroughly beyond my capacity (financially speaking) to maintain/insure, so we parted ways in 2004. Fast forward 21 years (to literally yesterday, in fact) and I'm now the proud owner of a 2007 V36 370GT. I'm happily surprised by how much power the VQ37VHR makes, compared to the RB25DET, considering the latter is turbocharged. I had planned to add a turbo at some point but I'm on the fence about whether I'll even need it (though I do love the sudden onset of extra torque). Any other 370GT owners around the traps, I'd love to hear about your experiences with this car (good and bad).
    • Perhaps the answer is... more jacks!* *proper jacks must be used.
    • I NEVER think about using a scissor jack unless there is absolutely no other alternative. f**king things are dangerous, annoying and stupid.
