depends on the event - at multi-club hillclimbs up here they definitely enforce restrictors in IP. Out at Stanthorpe (Carnell) they don't care if the car is IP eligible, let alone whether it has a restrictor or not. So it varies alot. It all depends on how seriously they take themselves. It is supposed to be a National Chamionship Supersprint...

There's potential for properly IPRA legal cars not being too happy about running against illegal cars... I'm just saying if they're going to let turbo cars in IPRA without restrictors, they should have mentioned that in the Supp Regs. That way people with those cars will know and be able to enter that class, and other competitors will know in advance too and not be pissed off come race day... Its happened to me at an ordinary multi-club hillclimb at Grafton a few years ago in my Datto. Its almost bound to happen at the "Australian Supersprint Championship" that some douchebag will take it all too seriously.

Would be nice if CAMS had a national set of rules for their national championship.

totally agree there will be people taking it too seriously....nature of this sort of event.

but they do have a national rule book - it is just that the 3 organising clubs in 3 years have all ignored it and done their own thing. Really does not help and it plays into AASA and Irace's "do anything you like" approach. If CAMS point of difference is clear and well enforced rules they are not doing it very well (their only other points of difference are expensive permits/licenses and difficult officals :) )

^^ I couldn't have said it better myself Duncan!

They need to consistently enforce the rules and make it across the board nationally.

That or changes the rules/classes to meet the growing number of turbo imports wanting to compete in these events.

I have no doubt IPRA rules will change in the next few years to be more turbo friendly in the next few years....they are even worse than sports sedans. None of which helps this event

did anyone end up calling about the classes? If not, I might give TC a call tonight and sus out how strict they're going to be on complying with CAMS category regs. Things like:

- Improved Production - turbo restrictors, max rim width, non steel panels (eg CF/FRP bonnets), gaurd mods, wing dimensions/height

- what category a 180SX would be in - technically not eligible for IPRA or 2B/2F sports cars...

- if there will be any dramas with non-complying Jap bolt-in cages for road registered cars

if anyone else has anything to add to the list of questions, speak up

im keen but also confused as hell by all these crazy cams rules.

so freakin complicated and the sheer amount of paperwork needed is stupid.

is there a cams office in brisbane? where you can go to sort all this out or do i need to send smoke signals to warwick via snail mail and cheques

its starting to look easier/cheaper/less hassle to go AASA topgear racing/irace at this point...

Irace is definitely the go, I rang Bill last week, he has got our entries - we are in? - don't know what class, we have sent them a copy of the National Supersprint Rules - apparently to date they have dropped the standing start, but to date have not heard on classes.

They did appologise as they have there state supersrpint this weekend and hillclimb next - so therefore no doubt it is a busy club. We did also question this is also a national event and would appreciate entries / classes - sorted asap.

Bill and event secretaries numbers are same, same - you'll get Bill - personally I think everyone entered may have to take a copy of

2010 Australian Supersprint Championship

Sporting Regulations from CAMs website with them - attached

SP10_Supersprint_Sporting_Regulations_Q310.pdf

hmmm, I called earlier and spoke to Bill. I asked him what class a 180SX should be in, as by-the-book its not eligible for either IPRA or 2B/2F, he said "it would probably end up in sports cars". After that we got sidetracked on that topic and I forgot to ask about how strictly IPRA regs would be enforced... doh...

I'm sending an entry in anyway, so I'll see you guys there

Cal, its not that hard to get a money order or a CAMS licence. Do it! It will be fun to have a run on a different track.

    • Absolute f*cking nightmare. I had to take breaks constantly, and I was always pissed off when I got home. The line split in Italy on day 2 (we drove from the Netherlands), lol. Driving any narrow European town was... well, sh*t.   Appreciate it man. Here, I'll just drop a favourite from the load I took on Saturday.   I'll update here when things happen with the car, the thing is, with stock power and almost everything chassis-wise taken care of, there really are no problems. 268,000kms now and counting.
    • Ah! I actually managed to snag a lightly used set.... that aren't so suitable for me right now. They don't work on a GTT without some cutting or creative heat moulding. I thought about reselling them myself cause I didn't want to murder them, but it looks like I'm probably going to attempt to murder them/melt them because I may as well. @GTSBoy @PranK can somebody close this thread?
    • Hey mate,  I have a set, one is slightly damaged but wont be noticable once installed.  Shoot me a message if your still after them
    • I couldn't wait But, the black constant tension hose clamps were too thick and there wasn't enough clearance at the T/B and I couldn't get it to seat properly, so I had use a silver one there I also added some 3" silicone over the alloy bit that goes through to hole on the radiator support as it looked like it was sitting on the edge of the hole in the radiator support, I never noticed a rattle or anything, but there was a witness mark It is basicly done, and I can live with the silver hose clamp at the T/B, I will get a black clamp for the head vent though where it is attached to the bulkhead fitting  It never stops...LOL, only issue now with the shock tower brace is it slightly touches the under bonnet liner now, if I leave it it will either wear some paint off the brace where it touches, or damage the liner, so I removed the liner to see what I have to work with, with the liner removed I have about 20mm of clearance, but sadly the middle part of the underside of the bonnet is only dusted with paint and looks crap, so I cannot have that, but.... as I have a roll of Carbuilders premium under bonnet insulation in the garage laying around that is only 5.5mm thick (we were going to use it on the boys Patrol, but he crashed the front of it a few months and it was written off, hence why he now drives my old Honda Accord Euro), I'll use the OEM liner as a template and get the Carbuilders stuff fitted up to cover that dusted paint up
