what's the deal with the S-tec R35 that costs nearly 3 times the price of a base model?

I believe S-Tec is a car prepared for a privateer racing series in Japan.

Also, looks like the price of the base car has jumped significantly.

I like the fact that the wheels are lighter but I am not sure that I like the look of them as much. I don't like the LEDs. They should have incorporated the LEDs into the headlight IMHO. Perhaps something like BMW's 'Angel eyes'?

'Angel eyes' are even more played-out and tryhard than LEDs

yes but angel eyes, are for the most part, only seen on BMWs

every ricer with an ebay account or a local autobarn is putting led strips on their cars these days

those people who use them during the day bug the sh!t out of me......"alright relax mate, we get it, you optioned your A4 with xenons, you're cool"

im not too fussed with these minor changes, exterior tweaks look like changes for the sake of it, especially the wheel design which looks a bit too soft - the Rays on the 370 look way more aggressive with their concavity

the only option ive ever lusted after is the white seats out of the JDM models

oh, and ill grab 5 of those new hvac knobs from the dealer next year thanks :(

Meh...not a fan of the styling mods to be honest. LED driving light are just gay as.

agreed...

though I don't have a problem with actual BMW angel eyes, sure it's pure wank factor but it was something different, can't hate on 'em personally :ermm: just the people that buy kits & put them in

Audi's LED strip was just a limp-wristed response to get on the bandwagon & tossers that put them on their commo/falc/civic/lancer make me wince when I see them

I like the wheels, probably need to see it in real life. I was never much a fan of the general styling of the R35 until I got to see one in the flesh, same goes for the 370z

AFAIK The point of the LED strips are as "DRLs" (Daytime running lights) the idea being that it makes you more visible than using your headlights (Proven safety step) while not having the adverse effects (globe life, power sap, glare etc) therefore they would be something you would want to have on during the day

LEDs (Light emitting Diodes) are also very different to Xenons, which are a really bright, clear globe for your headlights, as for the Angel eyes only being on BMWs, type "Angel Eyes" into Ebay and see what you cannot get them for....

Have noticed though that Xenon driving lights etc are getting the ring around the outside of them a lot now as well

Stand to be corrected

LEDs (Light emitting Diodes) are also very different to Xenons,

yep i know

but as per my post, it's only the Audi's with xenons (standard spec or optioned) that have the leds

if you have halogen headlights, Audi replace the leds with a few 5w halogen globes instead

btw i put angel eyes on my E46, not in a ricer ebay blue colour though, oem yellow

    • Welcome to Skyline ownership. Yes, it is entirely possible parts websites get things wrong. There's a whole world of inaccuracies out there when it comes to R34 stuff (and probably 33 and 32). Lots of things that are 'just bolt on, entirely interchangable' aren't. Even between S1 and S2 R34's. Yes they have a GTT item supposedly being 296mm. This is incorrect. I would call whoever you got them from and return them and let them know the GTT actually uses 310mm rotors. Depending on where you got them from your experience and success will obviously vary.
    • Hi...a bit a "development" on the brakes. I spoke to the guys where i get brakes from...and they are saying that 296mm EBC are for R34 GT-T. I then went to their site: https://www.ebcbrakes.com/vehicle/uk-row/NISSAN/Skyline (R34)/ and search for my car(R34 GT 1998 - it has GTT brakes) and it show me this USR1229 number and they are rly 296mm rotors... So now iam rly confused... The rotors i have now on the car are 310mm asi shown... So where is the problem? Does the whole EBC got it wrong or my calipers are just...idk know what?
    • Oh What the hell, I used to get a "are you sure you want to reply, this thread is XX months old" message. Maybe a software update remove that. My bad.
    • This is a recipe for disaster* Note: Disaster is relative. The thing that often gets lost in threads like this is what is considered acceptable poke and compromise between what one person considers 'good' looks and what someone else does. The quoted specs would sit absurdly outside the guards with the spacers mentioned and need  REALLY thin tyres and a LOT of camber AND rolling the guards to fit. Some people love this. Some people consider this a ruined car. One thing is for certain though, rolling the guards is pretty much mandatory for any 'good' fitment (of either variety). It is often the difference between any fitment remotely close to the guards. "Not to mention the rears were like a mm from hitting the coilovers." I have a question though - This spec is VERY close to what I was planning to buy relative to the inboard suspension - I have an offset measuring tool on the way to confirm it. When you say "like a mm" do you mean literally 1mm? Or 2mm? Cause that's enough clearance for me in the rear :p I actually found the more limiting factor ISNT the coilover but the actual suspension arms. Did you take a look at how close those were?
    • @GTSBoy yeah sorry i know thery are known for colors bud those DBA are too in colors 🙂 Green will be good enough for me
