I won't piss muck about explaining everything.

Took out a policy with Just Cars last year.

-Full Comp.

-Rating 4

-Over 25.

-Flawless Driving history

-$400 Excess.

-$3870.00

Was always gonna be a big premium coz it was my first car and first insurance in my name. But i wasn't gonna get anything other than THAT exact Skyline so i was fully prepared to take the hit.

Just got the renewal form in mail.

Same policy, same rating, same everything.

EXCEPT FOR THE PRICE.

ONLY$1500!!!!!!

NOW ITS TIME TO

:rave:

I hope you have paid it straight away b4 they change their mind?

I can see a point to that though I believe you are at most risk with a turbo car within the first 6 months of having a crash if you survive a year you risk is really only the same as a normal car casue you arent goign to have a stupid accident comming on boost in the wet etc and you have proved you treat you car with respect.

good one.

my premium for my cefiro is $600 a ear with just cars ( full comp) :P

cheers

god damn.. i'm getting a cefiro :P

Mine never came down after first year.. stayed exactly the same (although it was pretty low to begin with for a modified GTS-T) and i've been rating 1 for 3 years. Think i should shop around again?

Gee i dont know how u can fork out 4k a year on comp

when u have to pay 2k excess...u might aswell put that money aside and if u do have a crash should be enough to repair your car...

Im only 3rd party but have money aside just in case something happens.

i cant believe how some of u dudes fork out all that money for car insurance.....i suppose the bast_ rds leave us no choice.......Im also with just cars and pay around the 1300 mark for full insurance

I even think that is too much because im a rating 1. When i had my beamer i was paying around the 800 mark full insurance

Turbos are EVIL to insurance companies......

Its almost a joke isn't it.. now if you think about it, I mean sure skylines get in accidents, but its not like the majority - it seems they base their premium on the fact that the majority of turbos are going to be in an accident at least once a year!

Makes you wonder about other cars though - they're either get in much much less accidents (hmm, still doubtful on that one), or somebody is just trying to fleece certain people for as much as they can!

Aaargh flex mate. That totally sucks. Mebbe, u might be better off with a different car right now? Cos in a few year's time u can get another R33 (not a SII tho)

this is my first year driving the skyline.. so i'm getting Comprehensive.. but if i'm accident free for the year, then i'll get 3rd party but if my insurance do go down that low like wardest.. i will most likely consider it. :headspin:

    • Hope you aren't too sore after that one, might take a day or 2 to notice yet and I guess it is a loooooong drive home. On the bright side, tube frame front end is a thing at superlap, right?

    • The chart of front pressure to rear pressure (with one being on the x axis and the other being on the y axis) is not a straight line on a typical proportioning valve. At lower pressures there is a straight line with one slope, and at higher pressures that changes to a lower slope. That creates a bend in the line at that pressure, called the knee point. If you do not change the proportionng as the pressure gets higher, you will suffer excessive pressure (at one end of the car or the other, depending on which way you look at the proportioning action) and then get lockups at that end. The HFM BM57, from my memory of previous discussions, is based on the BM57 from a different car (to a Skyline), with a different requirement for the location of the knee point and the distribution of pressure front to rear, and so is not a good choice for an upgrade on a Skyline. Here's a couple of links to some old posts, one from here, one from elsewhere. A lot of it pertains to adjustable prop valves, but the idea is the same. There are plenty of discussions on here about this issue from al the many years of people wanting a cheap/accessible option. https://grassrootsmotorsports.com/forum/grm/learn-me-brake-proportioning-valves/236880/page1/ https://grassrootsmotorsports.com/forum/grm/learn-me-brake-proportioning-valves/236880/page1/
