Hey guys I am in the process of getting everything together for my 26 conversion into my s13. This will be a dedicated drift car so I am chasing response over outright power. But I am really keen to go single, as everything is a very tight fit in my bay as I have tubs etc. So if anyone could help with some advice of:

Turbo and Manifold choice

Loose Power Figures

I currently have

R33 block

Block decked, honed, bored, chemically cleaned

Shotpeened rods

ARP rod bolts

ACL forged pistons 20 thou over

Mahle rings

King bearings

Ported and Polished head

Reground cams

ARP head studs

Permaseal head gasket

Custom 7L RWD sump

Sard 700cc injectors

NGK plugs

Tomei oil restrictor

N1 oil pump

What is your abilty?

as size is dependant on driver quality and chasis setup... the more you progress the more and more grip you chase in the rear (many of us run semis on the rear 265-285) in size end so obviously you need more power to turn them.

For entry level to mid i recommend GT3076 (with the larger rear) or a 10cm T67 is also a killer drift setup for RB26 (i had a few T3 versions around for about $1200)

for mid to high level i recommend Gt3540 or equivalent (we run the blitz K5 which performs better but cost twice as much)

Well I would say I am entry to mid level, my chassis has tubs, removable rad support, full seam welded, and full bolt in cage. Suspension set up is JIC coilovers,adjustable everything blah blah blah... So t67 25g 10cm rear??? thats kinda what i had in mind, any others????

have you actually run one of these turboes?

yeah 3 or 4 now. I tried one myself for a while before letting a few of my customers buy one off ebay.

Trent, Can we please have some dynographs on this turbo? That would be fantastic!

Also, what is the response of this turbo comparable to?

I am currenlty building up a street RB25 with all the fruit to run between 270-300rwkw and I just might be in the market for a new turbo.... :D

Will be runnig forged bottem end, mildly ported head with upgraded springs, poncams, front facing plenum,haltech platinum ecu etc, etc.

I have a VG30 turbo i was planning on getting highflowed but this looks like a gret option also.

Larger rear housing, larger turbo comp side, that combination dont usually make for 'similar' by my definition :D

I know this, sounds a bit strange but it is honestly the reality - I think the twin scroll setup makes up for a lot of it. The twin scroll GT3582R cars I've been in are honestly feel too good to be true, the guys I know who have gone from single entry to twin scroll GT35 setups have improved spool by around 500rpm (pretty much the difference between an equivalent GT30R and GT35R) and make more midrange torque for an equivalent boost level.

I haven't been in a Skyline with a TS GT35R *yet* but given they are a 6, the gains are only going to be at least as good as the 4cyl ones I've been in. From the cars I've experienced I'd expect 1bar before 4000rpm on an RB25 with good manifolding, and heaps of midrange. Naturally the TS setup on a GT3076R would be better again, but I'd say ridiculous on an RB26.

Think of it this way, twin GT2860-5s have the combined equivalent "wheel" surface area of a T04Z... which spools better?

3076 with a .82 rear housing is good on an rb26 and as other have said you will get about 330kw which is plenty of power

6boost manifold. if you have a twin scroll turbo make sure u have a split pulse manifold to compliment

as for the oil pump, this is the easiest option Oil pump gears

I haven't used on but it looks ok. I would confirm the correct width

Oh wow! I totally forgot about this thread.

I have ditched the high flow option and I am in the market for either a HKS GT3037 pro s or MHI T67 10cm.

I thought I might as well considering I'm pretty much going all out on the long motor.

Any thoughts or Dyno read outs of either of these turbo's on RB25 would be awesome, thanks Trent.

    • Yeah based on old XRC5964S specs, it looks to be roughly GTX3576R sized? But this 5964S compressor will flow 90lb airflow somewhat similar to the compressors in both the GTX3584RS or G35-1050.. I fully expected the 0.64 rear A/R to choke up top - seems way too small from typical convention - but these are seemingly beneficial over the prior 0.82 results.. Be interesting to see if he comments on the EFR question in that thread - he mentioned in a prior video that BW EFR's were the "cats pajamas 10 years ago", but by the sounds of things all his kits have been using Xona for quite a while now.
    • Yeah it’s still got the oem manual gearbox and clutch, only kinda mods are a blow off valve, coil overs, and a aftermarket intercooler. Also had it for about 2 months now with a lovely midnight purple paint on it.
    • Yeeeppp, been following a lot of the testing on the latest Xona stuff and there are some mental results.  He also went over 1000hp @ 4 hubs on his Mainline with a XRE6364S (63mm) which was also well into the 20psi range before 4000rpm on a 2.5. Crazy stuff. Fwiw the XRE5964S is basically the modern equivalent of their old HTA3582 - would drive nicely enough on an RB25 or 26, but proven capable of a huge amount of power if you want to spicy with rpm tho even at sane boost levels will make stout numbers 
    • The axels in my R33 seem tired, and have a bit of play in them. I cannot find any new of course, not interested in buying used, but I am looking to see if anyone can identify some cross compatible axles. In the states I have seen suggested for S chassis the J30 axles, however for the skyline (as best I can tell) the lengths are about an inch off (2.5cm) on both sides. R33 my measure L 22" R 24.5" GPT L 22.5" 24.25" J30 L 23.5" 25.5"  so shaft length is probably an inch wider. Not sure if someone has another still remanufactured option besides the J30. I figured worst case I can buy a pair tear them down and swap the center shaft. My other option was reaching out to GSP to see if they cannot piece together a set, since the axle stubs are still manufactured, I wouldn't think it be that hard to find a shaft or make a shaft work. 
    • Potentially some interesting data for some of you here; Hank Iroz from Iroz Motorsport testing a new Xona Rotor 5964S on a Audi RS3 2.5L DAZA motor. https://facebook.com/share/p/14EU18MyDqZ/ Cliff Notes: Turbo has the new Xona XRE compressor aero with an X4C compressor cover, reportedly 0.64 rear housing. 900whp (670kw) @ 37psi, 170k shaft speed, motor is making 2bar (29psi) boost by roughly 3800rpm, 500lbft (670nm) torque by 3500rpm. They overlaid a stock RS3 on USA 91 fuel (red), and a "Stage 2" RS3 on E85 (yellow), and this 5964S (blue) - the 5964S isn't losing any ground to either. Apparently out-flowing their prior tests with a Xona 8264S (green), and this 5964S (white) also has a smaller A/R than that did.
