Hi all,

Been snooping around as a guest for awhile and now I have decided to become a member n join the happy family =)

Reason why I am posting is that I am looking to buy a used car within the next month after more searching around.

Anyone recommend any shops?

I looked at power road seems ok.

Plus I am still on my probation at work and will finish in 1 month time. Anyone know of any finance places that let you go on finance during probation?

cheers all! look forward to replies from the experienced ones.

Yeah the power rd dealer is decent quality some other import dealers just from the top of my head would be SSV on princess hwy and another one on hume hwy I forgot the name but from what ive seen they have decent cars but if you go private make sure you get it checked out or check it out yourself if you know what your looking for.

I've just bought mine about a month ago :D. I checked out quite a few places when looking for mine. Dealers prices were way above private sale. Ended up buying mine off a member from here. Not sure what state your from but in Vic It was hard to find a good one that was near stock. I looked at around 12 I think in total for private sale. Found problems with almost every one. Then found this one and so far its perfect :). Just take your time, dont rush into buying one straight away.

If your looking at a skyline, chances are it's been modded even if it looks stock. Save yourself the money (because you will probably end doing the same mods) and buy a lightly modified one off a member on the forum, someone that actually cares for their car!

Hi Baruna,

Nice to meet you and welcome to the forum.

I brought mine from a private dealer but mine is 100% stock (It's a GTv so no one bothers with them cos they're non turbo)

There is another import yard on Edwardes Road Reservoir, just down from BMSRUS (BMW Wreckers) never dealt with them but I've noticed them a few times when getting parts for my Beamer.

I'd agree with everyone else, check out the For Sales section on the forum. Depending on what you're looking at spending, one of the girls is selling her pearl white R34 for 15,000 from Vic

Hi Hi everyone,

thanks for all the feedback! its great that the people in this forum are so caring.

Cause I am still on work probation, my banker suggests me I get a loan (as I require some $$$$) after my probation is up.

So...probably won't get one for about a month from now...

Didn't know there was a seller section in this forum as well, thanks for the heads up.

    • just an update to this, poor man pays twice  Tried sanding down the pulleys but it didnt do the trick. Chucked another second hand alternator in the na car which I got for free off my mate and its fixed the squelling. Must have been unlucky with the bearings.    As for my turbo car, I managed to pick up a cwc rb alternator conversion bracket + LS alternator for 250 off marketplace, looked to be in really good nick. Installed it , started the car and its not charging the battery.... ( Im not good with auto elec stuff so im not sure if this was all I needed to do but I verified such by using a multimeter on the battery when the engine was running and I was only getting 12.2v )   I had to modify the earth strap for the new LS alternator , factory earth strap was a 10mm bolt which did not fit the bolt on the LS alternator which was double the size so I cut it off , went to repco bought some ring terminals that fit, crimped it onto the old earth strap and bolted it up to the alternator , started the car and same issue. Ran like shit and was reading 12.2 at the battery.  For a "plug and play" advertised kit thats not very plug and play but alas.  My question is , am I missing something ? Ive been reading that some people recommend upgrading the stock 80 amp alternator fuse to a 140 amp but I dont see how that would stop the alternator charging especially at idle not under load.  Regardless ive pulled it out and am going to get it bench tested by an auto elec tomorrow but it would be handy to know if ive missed something silly or have done something wrong.
    • My wild guess is that you have popped off an intake pipe....check all of the hoses between the turbo and the throttle for splits or loose clamps.
    • Awesome, thanks for sharing!
    • To provide more specific help, more information is needed. What Android screen? What is its wiring diagram? Does the car's wiring have power at any required BAT and ACC wires, and is the loom's earth good?
    • So, now all you need to do is connect the 2 or 3x 12v feeds into the unit to permanent 12v, ACC 12V and IGN 12V that you can find in the spot behind the stereo, and the earth, and then it will switch on with the car.
