R35 Wedding Hire *sydney*. Will Pay $$$

Recommended Posts

Hi

My fiance and I are getting married in Nov 2011. I want to suprise him with an R35 to drive to the wedding as he is a massive Skyline fan.

It would be great if he could drive it personally to the wedding. I am happy for the owner to be in the car with him (for piece of mind). Happy to supply license details, bonds, pay for petrol etc you name it.

He will be 32 once the wedding comes around, has had his license for over 10 years, currently owns an R32 GTR (which will also be in the wedding). Wedding is in Dundas Valley.

Will need it for 3-4 hours including photo time etc.

Can anyone help me out?

Thanks

Lauren =)

:D

Lauren have you tried looking into hiring one from a prestige rent-a-car place?

Im not in Syd, so i dont know any by name, but im sure there'd be some company out there with one for hire

edit! here you go, quick google search

Hi Domino

I actually have spoken to these people and ended the conversation extremely disappointed.

As the wedding only goes for 1 day (as most weddings do) we only need the car for 1 day - right? Well not that their website mentions anything but they came at me with a 2 day minimum hire for the weekend and are trying to charge me $2000. Considering we're not going to be in the country the next day I am just not going to pay it. I am more than happy to pay $1000 for one day - I even told them I'd pay a little extra if they just let me have it for one day but no.

This is the only other place I could think of.

I have contacted http://www.hireasportscarinsydney.com.au/ but they haven't got back to me yet. Fingers crossed. Will let everyone know what the outcome is when I know (incase someone else is looking).

Thanks anyways though! =)

Hi

My fiance and I are getting married in Nov 2011.

Even if you found someone tomorrow that says yes, whos to say the car will exist in 14 months or the owner will still be alive to carry out the service?

I'd look into it no more than 3 months before the wedding, also by then there should be a bigger pool to choose from, more modified ones around the place, maybe the rental places will reduce it to a 1 day hire when the cars become more common.

Congrats on the future wedding.

Because she is a women (and its about a wedding) and she is being smart about by planning ahead of time? (in contrast to some men who do it last minute).

I think its definately a good idea to scope it out ahead of time. Maybe just line up a backup hire car?

If I looked into it 3 months before the wedding I'd have a heart attack in the process thinking I've left it so late and not going to find anything - its a chick thing.

I'd rather be prepared and if it falls through then I have enough time to find another one or something else.

The rental place told me to call a few months before the wedding and 'if its available' they MIGHT give it to me for one day but I am just taking that risk. As you can imagine the whole wedding car thing is a big thing for my fiance so i'd like to lock something in ASAP.

im sure the future hubby would love to have the GTR rental for 2 days (day before wedding day and wedding day)

Hi,

It's probably too late but I have a Super Silver R35 and a mate has a Red R35. Did my wedding in Aug with the both and they looked awesome so have decided to start doing more weddings (have done a couple since)We do weddings but groom driving isn't an option. Depending on where in Syd it will be less than what you are wanting to pay (each).

Your other option is to hire one for the weekend but I think it is pretty exy!

Anyhow's all the best.

Regards,

Andy

    • What 1.5 way? There's no such thing really as a 1.5 way, just different ways of explaining 2 ways with different ramp rates. HOWEVER. In any driving in a straight line your 1.5 or 2 or 1.7 way should have no clunking at all. With the clutch fully depressed the diff should be silent (unless it's welded but I'm assuming it's not). Something aint right here.
    • Clutch is a spec brand, new clutch system,( PP, flywheel, friction disc, etc. pull type) installed 100 miles ago, with no problems.
    • looking for some help and maybe some insight on others experience with a new LSD. R34 GT ran and drove beautifully, but always alot of grip loss due to the open R200 rear end, so I just installed a new 1.5 LSD way into the stock open R200 for a ER34. Simple. Everything seemed right. I test drove for the first time this weekend. as I started to back out the garage the first time slowly with tires straight it sounded and felt like I had a loose or half disconnected drive shaft...that was clucking around loose and shaking entire vehicle, and making it feel like the trans clutch was spontaneously slipping then grabbing very roughly while just letting out pedal slowly. I backed it out went to pull forward with the same noise, shake and slip grab feeling with hesitation, I turned the tires to back out more and then pulled ahead some same thing but worst because of added wheel resistance (which that I expected) puzzled … pulling it back in checking everything over and finding nothing wrong, I tried it the next day. same thing, couldn’t believe how it shook everything again making a terrible noise and making it feel like the trans clutch was slipping and grabbing, but I got it out of garage into the driveway, got it straight, drove forward and then reveres a few times in a straight line everything shaking , causing what felt like clutch slip and grab every time, sounded like right behind front driver tire and I could feel it in the floor board with my feet,... worst right when beginning to let clutch pedal out to engage slightly, shuttering and sounding terrible along the way…I managed to slowly get down the road, babying it the whole way, once I was rolling (out of 1st) seemed to be better and between shifts, then clutch felt closer to normal…not slip/ grab etc., but back down to any stop, straight road or turning, same thing. Made no difference if all tires were straight or if I was turning. All other gauge read out correct. with in 2 miles as planned I reached the empty parking lot and performed the break in procedure that came with lsd, essentially to drive in a figure 8 a bunch.  Did this, binding chattering, and shaking the car the whole way. I drove it back home seemed somewhat normal once I was in straight line and past 10 mph or so, and I know it will “bind” on corners and cause some tires squeal when turning especially from a stop, but when I begin to move it still causes what feels like the trans clutch to slip and jerk badly as well as shaking the entire car, and sounds terrible, that I didn’t expect. I used the fluid they supplied with LSD kit and did the breaking, planning to change fluid as they suggest after breaking, but wondering will it get smoother or less aggressive with use? maybe a 1.5 is just too aggressive for normal road driving?   I have a LSD that I put in my 71 cuda when I restored it, with amazing smooth , quite yet effective results. Different style LSD but that ones a joy to drive. maybe expecting too much from this R200?
