my next car will be an NA

we dont have P plates over here (new zealand) so turbos are no restriction (yet) so every second person has or had one

hardly see any NA tuned cars

Maybe there is a reason why you dont see much N/A Skylines - because it cost a bucketloads of money just to get the same amount of power as a turbo variant with basic mods like turbo back exhaust and boost controller.

Why go through the pain and suffering of trying to be different when you can go the turbo route and benefit from the hundreds and thousands of parts and information readily available. I have a good chuckle when I see someone wanting to modify an N/A RB their reason being - "to be different"(insert /facepalm).

Well some people like n/a characteristics, myself included. I'd happily spend money on tuning a n/a car and have done so before however generally the tuning approach is quite different from personal observations i.e. n/a tuners will focus more on handling and improving response/power whereas alot (not all) FI tuners will go for power power power lol.

To me, there's nothing like the sound of a good n/a engine revving out and the throttle control/response but that's just my personal preference, just like i'm sure there's plenty out there who love hearing gate etc.

prob is with NA it takes so long to rev out its so slow, and they sounds like crap.. Turbo ftw everyday! >_<

I can understand liking the throttle response though of a NA, but skylines are so torqueless as it is is not going to be great anyway.

Unless your a P-plater & your state has the restrictions, it doesn't make much sense to go for the N/A model (which is the base model of the R32 to R34 range) over the turbo ones since the price difference between them aren't even that great...

+1

If you like the throttle response of a N/A then IMHO there are better cars out there for similar $$$ compared to N/A base model skyline.

N/A RB's are fail just fyi

also, because most N/A owners own them for the pose factor, the simple fact is that Skylines suck balls (early models and V35 aside) as an N/A car. There's much better out there for P platers as well.

As harsh as this sounds, I have to agree...

As has been mentioned before, you own it, you drive it, you love it, that's all that matters.

I will say something though and hopefully this makes you feel better. Doesn't matter what type of car you have/own/drive, you will always be discriminated against.

Drive a "dressed up poser" Lancer and people will give you sh*t because you don't own an EVO... ESPECIALLY EVO drivers... To them, you own a FEVO = Fake EVO.

Drive an SS and HSV owners will tell you, "I have one" which makes you all sad and sh*t thinking to yourself, "I just want one" *rolls eyes*

Drive a WRX and you'll either wish you had an STI or STI drivers will look down on you (not really but it does happen)

Drive a Porsche Boxster and everyone thinks you're a poor arse because you can't afford a GT2/GT3.

Drive a Skyline and people that don't know much about Skyline's will automatically ask you if it's a GTR. When you say, "no" they just nod and stop talking about the car because they respect you less, especially if they've never driven or ridden in a GTR to even know the difference.

I'm not saying this is all fact but it does happen and some cases are more extreme than others but you will always be discriminated against, at the end of the day, don't give two rats what anyone else thinks, be happy you've got what you have and get on with it. You're thankful for what you have and that's all that matters.

I kind of understand what your saying. I liked that 350z motul drift car better when it was n/a. now that its charged, it doesnt sound as good :S

you probably will get laughed at mate when you take it on the dyno. merely because of the bugger all HP it makes, not because its an NA skyline. or you could say to people something like "oh the turbo doesnt come on to boost unless it senses a worthy oponent nearby".

sell it and import a GTS-t if your unhappy.

you drive what you drive how cares what everyone else thinks !!! i own an r34 sedan and my mate has a coupe (my cars faster) but at work people see him come in the gate an want to ask him everything about his car when he gets to the "yeah its great but Stu's is faster" they all look and go oh i thort it was a non turbo !!!,

another mate owns a pulsar SSS and even though hes driven my car still says he will never own a turbo he loves the agility and response of the triple S ,

it like people saying neons are gay !! well thats there opinion get a group of ten people and maybe 6 will hate them but the other 4 like them so ignore the arrogance of people and enjoy what you have and have fun modding it for what ever style of driving you like

ps i have led's under my car so best not speak to me because i must be a wanker !!!!

But when you own an R35...well...the buck stops there doesnt it?

BEFORE I owned an R35...or a modded s15...or the Audi S5....when I didnt have the kind of cash to own these lovely cars...well, I didnt bother to buy a poser, a serious under-performer and dress it up or drive it like it was a legit sports car. I know where I stood in the hierarchy of things. This fake it till you make it crap...cant stand it. Save your money...wait till you have something to be proud about. Dont jump in so early getting the poser car or try-hard sports car...it looks bad and breeds poor ethics on life advancement... like guys driving shitty old BMWs with fake M3 badges. God WTF??

I just had a crappy old honda accord for years until I had the money to choose a PROPER sports car, one that earned respect, track, street or garaged.

hee hee, a badgeless 32 gtr, does it work backwards?

Im on my P's and own a 32 N/a and i get loads of mates saying things like "woahh you own a skyline ... that must be so quick !!" and i tell them its not, i didnt buy it to go quick or to drag every comonwhore driver at lights.

i just loved the look of skylines and have always wanted one. So when one came up at the auctions that was really cheap and in good nic i jumped at it.

I dont need to go fast on my P's, hence why i didnt buy a comonwhore.

Once i get off my P's i will either turbo mine or get another gtst and have a go at some track.

Basically if you like your car, enjoy cruising in it and are happy with it, who cares what others think ??

Be proud of what you have, You know what really shits me is all these guys out there with GTS_T, They stick the GTR badge on because they have the wing and the front kit etc. WHY BE FAKE, YOU DUMB f**k WANNABEES. You bought a GTS so LET IT BE A GTS. f**kERS ARGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!

    • Yes, I know🙄 but the sequential is not in my budget... don't want to reduce power neither, so looks like I'm stuck in the rabbit hole🤣

    • So.... the K&N air box thingo was too big, ended up gifting it to a mate, well, by gifting it he actually supplied food and beer at the pub,  which was nice, as it will not sit on a shelf in the garage for the next 10 years I did trim up some of the existing stuff to neaten it all up and gave it some wrinkle paint, unfortunately it currently has a used and abused mish mash of different types of hose clamps, 4 big fat T bolt type (shit), and a few normal clamps of vairing sizes and brands, but..... only until the 6 constant tension black worm clamps that I ordered from EFI solutions turn up next week Currently the current hose clamps are triggering me hard, LOL Is this the final version, probably not, I really want just 2 silicone pieces, a straight bit of silicone from the filter to the MAF is easy and will happen as soon as I head into Just Jap tomorrow, the problematic part is a 30° silicone bend from the MAF to the TB that I can connect the engine breather from the head, I found that there are bulk head fittings for boat bilge pumps that should work, but until I can get a 30° silicone bend the alloy pipe, and the 11ty thousand hose clamps, are there for the foreseeable future 4 hose clamps are golden, 6 are grudgingly acceptable, the 8 currently holding it all together is just taking the piss    I've also ordered 60 more retaining wall blocks for the front yard, I mis-gonculated the height that was required to get above the base of the Photinia's (red robin's) that are the hedge behind the front fence, currently it is 2 blocks high, and about 1/2 a block short, so going 3 blocks high will be above the base of the red robin's, and allow some room for mulch
