TUF250
Hi all, was talking gearboxes with some friends over the weekend and it raised a question. Do the r33 gtst boxes have 'double synchros'? I was under the impression that reverse didnt have a synchro and that they had shot peened gears in 1st 2nd and 3rd but thats all i know purely for my own information, so any info would be interesting to hear Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/338925-question-about-the-gtst-r33-gearboxes/ Share on other sites
89CAL
Im pretty sure there double synchros up to 3rd, or maybe all the way Reverse shouldnt have a synchro I assume cause your never changing to reverse at high revs/from another gear Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/338925-question-about-the-gtst-r33-gearboxes/#findComment-5477406 Share on other sites
Spurdo
what exactly do you mean by "double" synchros?? i've rebuilt my own rb25 box, pic attached of it during re-assembly, you can see some of the synchro's there but there is only one baulk ring per gear?? and reverse does not have a synchro, hence why it wont engage nicely (if at all) when the vehicle is moving Edited October 3, 2010 by jonboy Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/338925-question-about-the-gtst-r33-gearboxes/#findComment-5477848 Share on other sites
monty_r33
did you destroy any bearings getting them off. Do the gears slide off or are they pressed on Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/338925-question-about-the-gtst-r33-gearboxes/#findComment-6904642 Share on other sites
89CAL
The gears are a tight fit and hard to get pullers around etc. Wouldnt reccomend it unless you have the right gear and experience. All the bearings are needle rollers and slide on and off (bar the end bearings which are tapered roller) Shouldnt have much trouble getting them off Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/338925-question-about-the-gtst-r33-gearboxes/#findComment-6906449 Share on other sites
