Best value in terms of price would have to be a non V Spec car.

Best value in terms of having a better chance of resale? V Spec's I reckon

Best value in terms of being an investment for the future? M Spec or V Spec II Nur.

Hell, they are all good value imo!

Oh just to keep the Chef happy, I forgot to mention the N1 would be a bloody good investment.

Lol if you can kill your way to getting your hands on one :(

Some may tend to disagree with that :)

How so? The V Spec II has that many extras on it that are worth thousands of dollars to buy in parts second hand, it easily makes it the best value considering they aint that much more expensive second hand.

For example to buy a non V Spec and than buy most of the V Spec II extras would cost you a hell of a lot more than buying a V Spec II in the first place.

V SPEC II

Stiffer suspension

Larger rear brake rotors

Carbon fibre hood

Carbon fibre rear diffuser

Aluminium pedals

Black cloth seats

White indicators

That's the main ones I can think of. Hell the carbon fibre hood, diffuser and black cloth seats make it worth it alone. Trying to buy just those three second hand would be worth more than the average price difference between a V Spec and V Spec II.

Doesn't V-Spec I have front and rear diffusers too? So no difference there.

What do you mean by black cloth seats? I know the 2000 model R34 GTRs have black seats vs the grey seats of 1999 models.

Is this what you're referring to?

The best value 34 R is the one you can find in the nicest, cleanest body condition you can find within your budget.

Before finding mine I was absolutely astounded with how many had had serious repair damage, often poorly done. I go on to see these cars sold to guys who should know better, but so many guys must fall in love with a dog because it's the right colour, right wheels, right turbos whatever....... Thats why I can never understand any private guy wanting to buy one unseen out of japan. For that value car, I want to see and touch it!

Actually I think you are right about the diffusers. The V Spec I had them aswell, my bad.

Ok now with the black cloth seats these were originally released in 2000 on the V spec II which replaced the V Spec I. However the base model (non V Spec) GTR's from 2000 onwards also got these seats. So no you could not get them in a V Spec I. I was merely listing the differences between the V Spec and V Spec II.

Basically from 2000 onwards the base model GTR was identical to the V Spec II other than the carbon hood I believe.

Although I'm probably being biast...I say VSpec II's. You can get some ridiculously cheap 34 GTR's now like this one, but for the *typically* better condition, lower k's and reassurance of a little extra when it comes to resale you can't really go past VSpecII's. I found that black, bayside blue and MP had better resale values over silver and white examples.

Ahh interesting. I didn't know the 2000 model VSpec1 didn't have black cloth seats, only the 2000 model non-VSpec1's had them? Yeah the black ones do look better than the grey.

I'm not sure on the exact details as in 2000 onwards the models start to change so much.

See that one is a V Spec I 2000 model and has the grey seats.

It would have been a certain month in 2000 when they did the change over.

    • A few little updates that weren't filmed due to not taking long to do or not interesting enough for their own video. My new K&N Air Filter arrived, I went with an RU-4180 which matched the dimensions of the universal cone filter the car originally had.  The battery had gone flat, while that was charging I tidied up the spaghetti wiring at the bulk head and down the sides of the engine Next job was to swap the stereo The Kenwood harness had the female ISO plugs cut off and the male ISO plugs cut off the adaptor loom and joined with bullet connectors. I ordered in a repair loom through work and re-did it all. New Kenwood unit installed (Android Auto, DAB, Bluetooth, Reverse Camera) The bonnet/hood gas struts have been poor since collecting the car. I couldn't find any suitable replacements locally so took a chance on a pair from AliExpress.  The originals don't use a retaining clip to secure the cup onto the ball fixture, would explain why I struggled for 10-15mins trying to pry off the cups. The ball fixtures unscrew using a 12mm spanner, new ones are the same size. Sadly no photo of them fitted, you're not missing much lol The dished Momo steering wheel got replaced with my Momo Tuner, turns out I ordered counter sunk bolts for the horn trim ring (like they normally are for the steering wheel) instead of allen cap (flat seat)  A terrible photo of a Quaife style gear shift knob I've had stashed in my tool box for many years after purchasing the incorrect thread size (I can see a pattern emerging with ordering incorrect parts...) Also threw in a cup holder and a (empty) Boss Coffee can, because why not
    • GT-R clearly the better choice! The 300 is certainly not insaly fast but has a decent amount of poke. Does a nice little drift around the corners with a decent amount of throttle. It's VERY predictable in a slide too.  Feels so progressive! People probably presume there's a 25 year old driving it based on my behaviour this week! 🤣
    • Yeah Jap import. Fairlady Z then! I'm a bit the same.  They've been on my radar for a fair while but then just impulsively decided to buy one!  Was going to just buy an NA and add turbos to it later but decided to save the f'ing around and just buy the turbo version.
    • Thanks mate, well done to you too! Yeah not looking forward to doing any major work to it!
