The unshrouded pod will look hectic when the cops hear the fully induction noise, I would use the stock air box (modified) with a panel unless its physically impossible.

Science and physics wins though

oiled filters kill Airflow meter's sensor wire .. so watch out either in a panel or a pod

You my sir are a very knowlegable man ;) but this one i have to disagree with a small amount. I know it has been talked about alot

and some pro people say they are bad and some say they are not.

Well i ran a K&N Panel for 3 years in the GTT no problem and good power boost and i have had one in my daily for years and never a problem. So that makes me think that the only thing that kills Airflow meters is over oiled filters. Hey maybe in the last 5 years i have just been lucky, but i have never had a problem with K&N oiled filters nor do i know anyone that has.. :P

I just like them because they look stock, have dyno proven power increase the same if not better then a pod, never need to be replaced etc.

By they way this is worth a read LINK READ #27 100 out of 100 MAF set to them and tested had no trace of K&N oil. And come on they Sell millions of these if they were that bad they would be broke by now.

LOL end of Rant ... :P

Yeah...if you actually notice the induction noise...

Eh, i'd love to get a standard airbox for my car, and fit a pipe from the front bar into the bottom of the housing. Neatly done, gets direct air flow, and none of this BS heat from the engine.

yea na i cant find it....

was pretty much made of 4'' stormwater pipe and a rectangle end piece recessed into the front bar...

worked to, made 645 rwkw on normal unleaded after tune. true story.

Brezza is runnign 351rwkw with stock air box and just a K&N filter.

yep!

just stick with the stock airbox, i still even have the front bar snorkel still in place.

i can hear the stock BOV's when i change gears, and there is a slight induction noise i can still hear. but if i had pods running near on 22psi the induction noise would get a little loud and a bit annoying.

the biggest benefit is that when the hood is popped the engine bay still looks stock as!

its also a good sign to see bugs and stuff stuck in the filter when i washed it. it shows that its actually doing its job.

i had foam ones in it a year ago and they didnt filter a thing, there was nothing caught in them. all the dust, dirt and bugs would've gone through the motor.

well i went down to two different supercheap autos last night and couldn't for the life of me find high flow square panels to suit the car, they had K&N pods in a set of three? the staff there (no offence to anyone that may work there) were about as useful as a nun's box, in retrospect i should have taken the measurements of my current panel, could have helped. anyway, who's actually turning up tonight at villis? i'm going to try and get my memebership fee sorted and need to know who to pay. in before :"give the money to the bloke in the skyline" also please take pity on me if you do see me out, my ride is stock, giggling hurts my feelings :)

all that being said, it'll be a pleasure to meet you guys

think it might be a vn commo panel that fits, though someone else would have to confirm this

I know the r33 airbox uses VR/VS commodore-sized K&N airpanel filter; the r34 should as well?

Ive got 2 pod filters here with air flow meter adapters that I most likely wont be reusing, in exc. condition.

drive down to morphett vale and we can install here.... no issues.

Pretty sure it's the same panel between my N14sss and the R34 too .. (which yeah, I've been told is the same as many commodores).

The guys at Autobahn Mile End got me mine many years ago, they knew the right one off the shelf. Can't speak more highly of them there.

Brezza, were you at the last SAU-SA Track Day, or have you had your beast around there yet...........if so, how did it go?

Hey Pete,

Nah i havent had the car around Mallala yet, i have signed up for the High Performance Driving day and I've just been trying to get the car ready for that.

I popped one of my cooler hoses a few weeks back and the car has been used only on low boost putting around the streets. I've ordered a whole box of goodies to throw on it. Oil Cooler, intercooler hoses, gauges, braided lines, brake master cylinder stopper.

I'm also trying to source some bigger brakes to throw on the car, cos i'm still running sumitomo's

I dont think my times would be too crash hot, because with the current brakes i've been told they wont handle too many hot laps.

i've got toyo R1R's all round on the car, they're about a year old and are just maybe .5mm off the tread markers. so they've probably got maybe 1 track day left in them then they're in the bin.

I can't wait to get out around there!

Ruby is the man to see to sort your membership out mate....RubyRS4 :D

just wanted to annoy ya mate...well will be good to see you too and trust me we all have been there....didnt get to 2xxrwkw overnight...however luke with his overnight parts from japan prob would :D

Fixed ^^^

I'll be there tonight. :whistling:

Yeah, I can't stand the service at Super Cheap. They're f**king hopeless there. :D

well..i went into villis tonight and it was uncomfortable to say the least.. i had no idea who i was looking for and the fact there were 30 pensioners behind me with an acoustic guitar frightened me. it was you guys wasn't it? thats why you drive wagons, to keep your guitars and walking frames handy..

but yeah, dissapointing :) i guess it was my own fault, it's disarming having a room full of peoples eyes glued to you and i was too afraid to ask someone, on the plus side i think i disturbed a few children.

anyway if it's a regular thing i'll come down next friday? i'm pretty easy to spot, a bandy legged kid with a funny hair cut and unsightly tats. so please say hi or at least tell me who to look for.

thanks guys

    • Hi guys . Can someone help me  I bought an Android screen for my Nissan fuga but it won't turn on
    • My guesstimate, with no real numbers to back it up, is it won't effect it greatly at all.its not a huge change in position, and I can't see the air flow changing from in turbulence that much based on distance, and what's in front of it. Johnny and Brad may have some more numbers to share from experience though.
    • Which solenoid? Why was it changed? Again, why was this done? ...well, these wear..but ultimately, why was it changed? Did you reset the idle voltage level after fitment? I'm just a tad confused ~ the flash code doesn't allude to these items being faulty, so in my mind the only reason to change these things, would be some drive-ability issue....and if that's the case, what was the problem? Those questions aside, check if the dropping resistor is OK ...should be 11~14 ohms (TCU doesn't throw a flash code for this) ~ also, these TCU designs have full time power (to keep fault code RAM alive), and I think that'll throw a logic code (as opposed to the 10 hardware codes), if that power is missing (or the ram has gone bad in the TCU, which you can check..but that's another story here perhaps).
    • Question for people who "know stuff" I am looking at doing the new intake like the one in the picture (the pictured is designed for the OEM TB and intake plenum), this design has the filter behind the front bar, but, the filter sits where the OEM duct heads into the front bar, and the standard aperture when the OEM ducting is removed allows the filter to pulled back out of the front bar into the engine bay for servicing, a simple blanking plate is used to seal the aperture behind the filter This will require a 45° silicone hose from the TB, like the alloy pipe that is currently there, to another 45° silicone hose to get a straight run to the aperture in the front bar Question: how will it effect the tune if I move the MAF about 100-150mm forward, the red is around where my MAF is currently, and the green would be where it would end up Like this This is the hole the filter goes through  Ends up like this LOL..Cheers
    • Despite the level up question, actually I do know what that is....it is a pressure sender wire.  So check out around the oil filter for an oil pressure sender, or maybe fuel pressure near the filter or on the engine. Possibly but less likely coolant pressure sensor because they tend to be combined temp/pressure senders if you have one. Could also be brake pressure (in a brake line somewhere pre ABS) but maybe I'm the only one that has that on a skyline.
