is NOS ok for the engine though after sustained periods?

like short shots here and there are probably fine, but i've heard it kills the engine after a while unless the engine has been specifically built for it..

true or false?

its like winding up the boost gordo, the harder an engine works quicker it wares out obviously, same with nos, nos seems to have a really bad stigma asociated with it, but yeah its not that bad when used in correct proportions.

ok, i think i read (could have just been an uninformed post) that its the chemical composition that eats away the piston rings or vavles or something.. but that could be just myth. just curious..

depends how its tuned too i suppoose

yeah james, thats it really, yeah its the ones that were on the counter. No N2O is its inert (sp) doesnt eat nething, Nitrogen not sure ill find out (looks for last years chemistry books), oxygen, well that one definately doesnt eat nething.

there was a thread on boostcruising (of all places) and some people were discussing why not use pure oxygen instead of nitrous

but i think it was concluded that the oxygen plus the nitrogen's cooling properties and the fact that nitrogen carrys oxygen as well meant that nitrous was better than pure oxygen

and theres a bogan in a v8 strappin it up my road

yer..probably a myth.. its probably just detonation caused by poor tune that causes probs, then they blame the nos for destroying their engine.

ben: good luck with the loans, but remember, every loan you apply for goes on your credit record. Basically other banks in a way use this to assess the loan application. So the more loan applications you are refused, the less likely you will get one.

A loan of $12k is also a lot for a young-ish guy with no previous credit history, and you would definitely need a fulltime job and around 3 months of being there. Just wait, you will get it..

There was a lot of waiting before i got my r33..

    • Why are you so adamant on going M12? Why not follow Brad (GTSBoy) suggestion. You're talking moving from a 1/8" size, to a 1/2" effectively. 4 times bigger. Why skip the commonly available sizes in between? The bigger you go, the more likely you are to strip the threads out at a later date, as guaranteed, someone will put a huge spanner on the M12 and really tighten it up, and you're only in thin wall, so not a lot of threads to engage!
    • Hi. Yeah thanks. Car is already at tuners and it staying there to resolve "many" issues they do not like. So it is in a good hands. Getting a good tune on that Nistune ECU too so the car would be good. Just needs a little tune up and love.
    • Probably gonna remove manifold and turbo. I’m not sure if I can get M12 x 1.5 air tight. Could use high temp Loctite 246 or something similar, but I don’t know. Maybe it’s just best to remove everything again and weld an 1/8NPT on there instead.
    • Yeah, saw the ratios, not impressed. Would like the punch I have in the first gears now. With those ratios it won't be the same.  Also want the h pattern gearing, or at least a quiet gear set that don't need to come apart for service each year. Looks like the only "reasonable" way Is a 8hp70 transmission, but where is the fun in that🤷‍♂️
