was just wondering why society frowns upon the devotion of real anorexics, and in saying that I mean the ones with suficcient devotion to starve themselves thin, and yet society proclaims ad good and just the same sort of madness that it takes to be brilliant and churn out straight sevens at university. Was at a graduation ceremony for honours a while ago and the dux of the class had a gpa of 7 which means she didn't get anything but 7's for the whole degree.

In this day and age of obecity I think we should champion Anorexics with the devotion to stick with it, and frown upon the obece that lack the self discipline to get with the program.

thoughts chris.

Who says that the obese are no less driven than an anorexic?

I would assume that the same disorder that requires/allows you to absolutely destroy yourself would be applicable to a morbidly obese person too.

I don't think that your avaerage person is capable of the dedication that it would take to be corpulent to the same reverse degree.

Any excessiveness is frowned upon by society for good reason, whether it is anorexia, obesity, workaholism, greed, etc, etc.

Different sides of the same coin.

This person who had a high GPA across the board, is there any moderation in this persons life or did they devote everything they had to atttaining those marks?

Sure good marks would indicate a successful future, but against what measure? High paying job but no life outside that job (i.e die alone but rich).

Moderation is the key, but it is so easy to lose sight of.

1. The obece are not driven. Often obecity comes out of a sedentary lifestyle and lazyness more than anythine else. Also the undereducated are far more likely to be obece than the well educated and more fortunate. It tends to be a dizease of the lower calsses and the less socioeconomically endowed groups of society but times they are a changing and that no longer rings true.

2. Thus these people are the ones with devotion. We should really take them around to schools as motivational speakers

3. excessiveness in terms of finding a solution to a problem or artwork tends to be champpioned. Many of the great artists and poets of the world were mentally unwell and yet we appreciate their work.

yes granted everything has a price.

I think another point is how society can turn a blind eye to its set of double standards and the question of how our value system became so skewed. Once again we are brought back to the question of intent and the idea of doing all the right things for all the wrong reasons.

don't know if you'll read this but thanks for the effort in your response.

    • And I just realised that that advice is slightly nonsensical for a GTR, because you need 2 of them. But it is otherwise true.
    • Having had a reasonable look at the car, I'll be able to remove the (one time) rams and retract the hinge (they are held in the down location by a tiny (m3?) sacrificial screw) which will get it physically back in shape. From there if you remove the rams you need a resistor to turn off the airbag light (as Mark said, there are plug in kits and I might go that way because its reversible). And...per all the threads on here, even if you have the resistors to turn off the airbag light, the bonnet light will stay on as it writes to the airbag computer history - that is either replace the airbag controller, reprogam the EPROM (if I can work out how), or remove the globe from the dash. Having seen how sensitive this system is, if I had my time over I'd pre-emptively remove the rams, even on a road car, because this is all a very unnecessary pain in the arse. Reminds me, time to go and have a look at the Fuga too....
