Group buy has now closed guys, but we did manage 8 orders all paid up :)

Just waiting on the tracking numbers from HDi but I believe that 6 kits were send out on Friday while we waited for slow-arse banks to process the last 2 payments.

Thanks to you all for the great response (10 orders in 4 weeks is pretty ambitious methinks).

Ps. for those who didn't make it in, I will probably look at another HDi Group Buy towards mid 2011

thanks for the effort. I was initially interested but with my stagea still being complied and not likely to be sitting in my driveway until after the new years break, and the fact that i'm out of the country for the better part of february, it looked like i was going to buy the cooler and have it sit in the garage til after summer was over. later in the year in time for next summer sounds like a pretty good idea to me...

  • 4 weeks later...

I should really check mine.. I think its wired reversed. lol

I was worried about this, so when I crimped the cables I used some plugs so that Id be able to easily swap them over if I got it wrong. Seems to be okay though!

my temp rockets up when i put the AC on. so im thinking its sucking air from the engine instead.

Easy way to view it is to turn the car on when you know the fan is working, turn it off and quickly run to the front to see which way the fan is turning (should be clockwise and you may need to remove your grill to see it properly). If wrong, simply switch the wires :)

did the same thing!

spade connectors FTW!

Thanks Uncle cam.. yeh i know how to do it.. i just havnt been bothered.. I should really pull the grill off and check.. but the problem is i have to get it to 108c which is only gonna happen when its hot!

mine turns on much earlier when when the AC is on.

Likewise. To the point where it spooled up as I started the car after I installed it & the fmic.. which obviously took several hours and everything was well and truely cold by the end of it (and my AC is always turned on)

mine turns on much earlier when when the AC is on.

its so much quieter than the stock fan, maybe you dont know its on

Yep, mine too :)

Quieter? You sure?? It is certainly more aggressive pushing air through though!!

(I can hardly remember the stock fan coming on though so I probably can't remember the noise lol)

Intercooler kit installed courtesy of Dale on Sunday.

I've noticed a subtle difference and the fan does not seem as noisy at the original.

I'll be keeping an eye in it in the coming weeks.

Each time I returned to the car today I couldn't help but notice the shiny metal through the lower grill.

Nice, must admit I was a bit jealous once it started going together...

Did we get the fan direction right?

    • I appreciate the detailed explanation, think I understand now. I spent the better part of last night reading what I could about shuffle and potential solutions. I had replaced the OEM twin turbo pipe with an alternate Y pipe that is separated further away from the turbo. The current one is from HKS and I had a previous pipe that was separated even further away, both have shuffle. I had heard that a divider can be welded in to the OEM pipe to remove turbulence, and figure that aftermarket pipes that are more separated would achieve the same thing. From what I read, most people with -10 turbos get shuffle due to their size, though it's a bit less common with -5s on a standard RB26. I think Nismoid mentioned somewhere it's because OEM recirculation piping is common in Australia with -5 cars. It seems that the recommendation tends to vary between a few options, which I've ordered in what I think is most feasible for me:  1. Retune the MAP or boost controller to try to eliminate shuffle 2. Install OEM recirculation piping 3. Something called a 'balance pipe' welded onto the exhaust manifolds. I don't know if kits for this are available, seems like pure fabrication work 4. simply go single turbo My current layout is as follows: Garrett 2860 -5s HKS Racing Suction intake MAF delete pipes HKS racing chamber intake piping hard intercooler piping,  ARC intercooler HKS SSQV BOV and pipe Haltech 2500 elite ECU and boost solenoid/controller HPI dump pipes OEM exhaust manifolds HKS VCAM step 1 and supporting head modifications Built 2.6 bottom end All OEM recirculation piping was removed, relevant areas sealed off I'll keep an eye out for any alternative solutions but can get started with this.  Only other question is, does shuffle harm the turbo (or anything else)? It seems like some people say your turbo shafts will explode because of the opposing forces after a while and others say they just live with it and adjust their pedal foot accordingly.
    • That worked out PERFECTLY! Thank you big time to JJ. He was able to swap me his stock diff. He drove all the way to me as well. Killer! Removal & install was pretty straightforward. The diff itself is HEAVY. So that’s a 2 man job.  Man does the car drive nice now! Couldn’t have worked out any better 👌
