Hi guys, I've spoken to a guy at Carmate and I was able to organise a group buy deal with them on R34 GTT fibreglass bonnets.

Carmate is offering us all styles of R34 GTT fibreglass bonnets for the group buy.

Discount rates:

10 orders = 10% off RRP

20 orders = 15% off RRP

Here's a list of bonnets they offer, you can also find it here: http://www.carmate.com.au/

NOTE: If you see a carbon fibre bonnet in the picture, just ignore the carbon fibre, because this GB is for fibreglass.

As for postage, please contact me with your address for the exact postage cost. Because different states and area will be different.

But as a rough idea:

QLD & VIC metro = $90+ overnight

SA metro = $100+ 3 days

WA & TAS metro = $120+ 4-5 days

NSW = pick up available +$10 handling fee

Depending what they have on shelf, if they have a bonnet that you want, then there will be no wait. I think they have a couple of R2 and T2 style in stock.

But for the rest, it will take 5-8 weeks to get made and shipped. With the longest being 10 weeks.

A $100 deposit will be required for me to make the order and I won't be making the orders until we have at least 10 people. The rest of the payment will be required when Carmate has the bonnet and ready to ship.

As for fitment, they said they have sold many bonnets and haven't had any complaints.

Hey Charles put my name down for a Z tune GTR-R2 Style bonnet and posted to 3083... So it will fit up perfectly to my GTT hinges and bonnet latch??

Yup, it uses stock GTT hinges and latch

If anyone wants to check for exact postage cost yourselves, you could register an account on Carmate, then pretend to finalise the order with the bonnet you want, then it should give you the postage cost.

Hey Charles i want the GTR R2 Style bonnet not the GTT-R2 one... Was just looking at the list that you wrote R2 style which is the GTT one, so was just confirming..

Cheers!!

Charles can you confirm if its possible to get in on this with Carbon Fibre bonnets?

Have a look on their website, if the style is available in carbon fibre, then it should be fine, but just note that the carbon fibre bonnet will be packed in a box? So the postage will be a little bit more.

Is the GTR OEM style bonnets made to suit the non-GTR hinges?

I think they are pretty much the same as stock GTT bonnet but it's just a bit shorter. I can ask for you if you want :)

No worries mate. I'm just waiting for an email from Carmate to confirm whether the bonnet will use GTT hinges and latch. But I'm 90% sure it does.

    • would a r34 gtr hood line up with gt/gtt stock fenders? after latch, front bumper and hinges are swapped for gtr ones? or would the fenders be too low or high in relation to the hood surface? ( I believe seeing somewhere that gtr front fenders use some type of riser for the sides, but do not know how that relates to stock gt/gtt fenders.)
    • You just need to remove the compressor housing, not the entire turbo. I would not be drilling and tapping anything with the housing still on anyways.
    • So, I put my boat on a boat. First of all, I'm going to come out and say it. Why is Tasmania not considered a holy goal, an apex that all road-legal modified cars go to, to experience? This place is an absolute wonderland of titanic proportions. If people are already getting club runs for once in a lifetime 30 person cruises to Tassy then I've never seemed to see it. It is like someone replaced the entire place with an idyllic wonderland for cars, and all of the people living there with paid actors who are kind, humble, and friendly. Dear god. After doing a lap of almost all of the place I've found that it's a great way to find out all of the little things that the car isn't doing quite right and a great way to figure it all out. All in all, I drove for 4 hours a day for a week and nothing broke. I didn't even need to open the engine bay. This is by all means a great success, but it has left me with a list of things to potentially address. I also now have a 3D printed wheel fitment tool which annoyingly hasn't got any threads in it to actually assemble it. I might be able to tape it together to check the sizing I actually want to use, but it'll likely involving pulling the shocks out to properly measure travel at least at the front, and probably raise the car while I'm at it, at least in the rear. I scraped on quite a few things and I'm not sure how else to go about it. I was taking anything with a bump at what felt like 89 degree angles. And address those 10 other tasks. And wash the car. God damn it is dirty. And somehow, the weather was perfect the entire time - And because I was on the top of Mt Wellington it turns out it was very much about to freeze up there. I did something I typically never do and took some photos up there in what must have been -10 and the foggy felt like suspended ice, rather than mere fog. If you own a car in Australia, you owe it to yourself to do it.
    • Damn that was hilarious, and a bit embarrassing for skylines in general 😂 vintage car life ey. That R33 really stomped. Pretty entertaining stuff
    • Hi, I have a r32 gtr transmission. Does any of you guys have an idea how much power it will hold with the billet center plate and stock gearset? At what power level and use did yours brake with or without billet plate? Thanks, Oystein Lovik
