Because the boost falls over at the top it seems inconsistant with boost creep as creep should keep climbing all the way to redline. But 38mm is right on the limit.

What im saying is use te boost controller to try and run 18psi solid from 4 to redline. If he had not control at all with the boost then the boost controller lines are back to front

I see what you mean. Ill get it sorted one way or the other soon.

Once i sort it out i hope it comes on earlier too.

So i wouldnt get the results I am after with that turbo?

For an internally gated turbo you would definitely get a better result from a Hypergear :)

For your power goal of 230-250 I recommend you get a Hypergear highflow, it is a simple rebuild/respec of the standard turbo that will get you the results your after.

That being said, it will also bolt straight back on where you took it off (stao will provide you with the extra bits needed to make it direct fit). Its also cheap, only something like $960 delivered and ready to bolt on.

Confused reader here. I have a pretty much stock R33 S2. All I've done so far is 3" from turbo back exhaust, mounted an ARC return flow intercooler, installed a cheapy Drift pod filter and grounded the boost wire. I've also installed a Walbro fuel pump. I'd love to get more boost happening and understand I'd need to get a different turbo. Hypergear sounds like it could be for me as it's direct bolt on. Then get a nistune board installed and get it all tuned on the dyno. At that state, what HP or KW do you guys think I'd getting? I don't have plans to go as extreme as some guys here, God bless them, so think a high flow and nistune and I guess new coil packs (will I need new injectors too?) is about my end game, plus at some point replacing my stock shocks.

My advice is to get the ECU first. Also, if you are considering buying a HG turbo, Stao can give you a great deal on an Adaptronic plug in ECU. Something to think about given you have an R33, so the NIStune will take some messing around. The Adaptronic may represent better value for money. Perhaps look into it?

Then, it depends which turbo you end up getting from HG as to what HP you can expect and whether you will need injectors. If you go a simple highflow, stock injectors mayyy be able to do the job, perhaps with a bit of help from an aftermarket fuel pressure regulator. They will be very close to maxed in any case. However if you want something capable of say 250rwkw, then you're probably going to have to do injectors as well. I'd suggest talking to Stao about what you want.

Sounds good until the adapteonic ecu is $1500 plus tuning instead of the $1350 supplied fitted and tuned including z32 ecu for nistune

Not if he buys the HG turbo. Stao quoted me $1040 delivered for the Adaptronic.

Plus tuning. I agree it is a good price but nothing can beat NIStunes for cost.

Tis true, the NIStune is a good option I agree. Just food for thought.

How much would you charge to do the Adaptronic? I was quoted $650-$750 to install/tune my Link plug in. Also have to factor in IAT sensor. So if the Adaptronic is similar, then you're looking at what, $1800 installed, tuned, everything? If the NIStune is $1350 tuned, and the OP decided he wanted more power and needed to get the Z32 AFM as well, that makes it between $1600-$1800? Depending on the price of the Z32 as well as installation, etc.

And that's only if he decides to get the Z32 done at the same time as everything else, if he changed his mind later and needed to get it done then that adds another $400 or so for a retune? Whatever way you spin it, the NIStune is probably going to be the cheaper option. But if it's only ~$200 cheaper...

Id personally like to own an R33 which had a HG H/F, adaptronic, TBE, pump, fmic. Id leave the stock injectors in there and run it at the quoted 15psi. Should go really well.

U are spot on. Thats why i try to convince most customers to do everything at once then to keep adding parts that require a retune. Costs more up front but saves alot down the track

That's exactly what I'm trying to tell myself about getting the Link installed now, rather than later. The soreness of the wallet makes it a bit hard though :glare:

Except when the minimum boost it will run is 18psi. Ask Mitcho. I dont feel its safe to try max the injectors out and leave them running like that.

At least you won't need to worry about oil pumps, big catch can, oil restrictors, blowing off power steering belts, sheering off 3rd gear, failing ABS relays/pumps, etc.

    • The chart of front pressure to rear pressure (with one being on the x axis and the other being on the y axis) is not a straight line on a typical proportioning valve. At lower pressures there is a straight line with one slope, and at higher pressures that changes to a lower slope. That creates a bend in the line at that pressure, called the knee point. If you do not change the proportionng as the pressure gets higher, you will suffer excessive pressure (at one end of the car or the other, depending on which way you look at the proportioning action) and then get lockups at that end. The HFM BM57, from my memory of previous discussions, is based on the BM57 from a different car (to a Skyline), with a different requirement for the location of the knee point and the distribution of pressure front to rear, and so is not a good choice for an upgrade on a Skyline.
