not sure if this helps buddy but i was stuck around 350rwkw for a long long time until we found that our CAS was faulty. After replacing it power shot straight to 390rwkw.

Might be worth checking it if you see signs of back fire and stuff like that as they tend to fail quite often.

Took it to unigroup, still didnt make power after fixing exaust housing issue but found the exaust to be smaller than 3inch in the mufflers, a fair bit smaller, so got a new cat back made by performance exaust in northmead, really happy with workmanship and the service they provided, so is now 3.5 inch all the way through, straight through 3.5 inch mufflers, will be booking it back in with unigroup asap, was told the exaust was dropped at the place i went to before but the turbo issue was still there so now the exaust side of things are all sorted, the car felt better after the turbo was sorted but feels heaps better with this exaust on but its only got a basic tune so i cant stretch its legs will post after i take it back to unigroup

I hear ya!!

RB30/26

Spool race spec head ported and polished

hks 272 cams

tomie cam gears

sard fuel rail

sard 880cc twin spray injectors

Adjustable fuel reg

Standard 26 plenum with standard 6 throttle setup

Drain back from back of head to sump

6boost exhaust manifold

turbonetic gtk1000 turbo

tail 38mm gate

5inch dump into 4.5 straight though exhaust with hks dragger cannon

splitfire coils

Bottom End

rb30 block (Has been o'ringed runs standard rb30det head gasket)

rb30 standard crank ballanced With arp studs and acl race bearings

rb30 standard rods ballanced with arp studs and acl race bearings

rb30det cp pistons (dish tops) (85psi per cylinder)

JUN oil pump making 100psi when cold and around 65psi when warm and around 80-90psi under boost

ATI ballencer

Arp 12mm head stud

Power by

Microtech lt12s

bosch intank pump thats feeds a surge tank with 2 bosch 044 pumps feedind fuel rail

Eboost 2 for boost control

And only making 441hp on 18psi. Depressing after spending near 50g on motor only. Been to 4 different tuners and all have been from 420hp to 490hp.

hi guys, just got my rb3026 run in and the proper tune done on it but we cant get it past 315kw atw, doesnt make any more power, can wind in more boost pressure but it doesnt make a difference. here is the mod list

rb3026

t04z .84 rear housing

50mm gate

hdi rs spec cooler (95mm thick one)

pon cams b spec 9.15mm lift 260 duration

cam gears

ported head standard size valves

3.5" turbo back and cat, 3" from cat back

splitfire coil packs

1000cc injectors

built engine etc

its like there is a restriction somewhere, pulled exaust off before cat, made no difference, took of turbo inlet pipe, made no difference, checked the cooler incase i left a rag in the but nope. as I said the boost pressure is there but its like the flow is not and the pressure holds steady till redline it doesnt taper off at all. this setup should be able to make 400kw so yeh if anyone has any ideas id love to hear them

car goes fkn hard but yeh id like the extra kilowasps that should be there lol

cheers

My gt35r 26/30 setup was stuck at 350kw no matter what I did. Even whn using e85 it only gained about 18kw no matter how mch boost we used.

We replaced the Crank angle sensor and power shot to 403kw straight away on less boost.

If you've got a older gen skyline I hear things things tend to be on their way out. But to be safe I'd be checking that. Makes sense why it wouldn make more power/boost if the timings unstable.

Sorry for the late reply, put on an exaust the is 3.5" all the way through, made 414kw atw, 350kw atw @ 5k rpm

good to hear been along time in the fixing, the pesty exhausts do it every time, to bad the guy that was meant to drop the exhaust the first time clearly didn't, cause if he had of this would have been sorted long ago

good to know 3.5 will run 400kw plus

i was a little worried that my 4 inch dump into my 3.5 system may be a bit restrictive for the power figure im chasing

obvioulsy its fine

any more info

my 26/30 is making 316rwkw on 17psi and makes no more on 20psi so kinda curious

i do have a cat in was gonna take it out

I have similar issues my tuner told me the cams were chocking, i am using factory cams and springs also you can never get the timing rite by lining up the timing marks by eye

just brought tomei 260 cams and springs and i will be using this site to set up cams.

^^^^^ +1

Still have this issue on my car but for a GT3076R. Hit a wall at 250-260RWKW on my RB 25/30. Was told it was the cams. Cams made small difference, but DEFINATELY were not the problem.

It is beyond reasonable doubt caused by something set wrong as far as timing goes.

Hence, I'm sending it to another workshop to be re-timed and rechecked meticulously.

Can confirm stock cams will not limit power like others have mentioned. They can make 400kw+

Stock cams and springs

gt35r .82

3.5 ing exhaust

Exhaust port on head

22psi

403rwkw

As mentioned guys please check your CAS.

that's not what i want to hear. I just brought cams

i am not using vct iv got rb20 cams in insted could that be an issue

don't think its cas it doesent miss or break down

seems everyone has 3.5'' exhausts i got 3'' dump to 80mm nismo exhaust might be too small i dunno

If your tuner told you that you "needed" cams, then he has no idea.

As you've seen there are that many guys who've made some great power with essentially stock heads.

A 3" dump is too small for a 700hp turbo (GT35).

Even though you have a jap exaust that is X size, have a good check inside the mufflers/cannon my pipe was 3" but inside the cannon it was more like 2" or even a bit less, huge restriction, i never thought to look in there until it was pointed out to me

    • Sounds good.  I don't 100% understand what your getting at here. When you say, "I keep seeing YouTube videos where people have new paint and primer land on the old clearcoat that isn't even dulled down" do you mean this - there is a panel with factory paint, without any prep work, they paint the entire panel with primer, then colour then clear?  If that's what you mean, sure it will "stick" for a year, 2 years, maybe 3 years? Who knows. But at some stage it will flake off and when it does it's going to come off in huge chunks and look horrific.  Of course read your technical data sheet for your paint, but generally speaking, you can apply primer to a scuffed/prepped clear coat. Generally speaking, I wouldn't do this. I would scuff/prep the clear and then lay colour then clear. Adding the primer to these steps just adds cost and time. It will stick to the clear coat provided it has been appropriately scuffed/prepped first.  When you say, "but the new paint is landing on the old clearcoat" I am imagining someone not masking up the car and just letting overspray go wherever it wants. Surely this isn't what you mean?  So I'll assume the following scenario - there is a small scratch. The person manages to somehow fill the scratch and now has a perfectly flat surface. They then spray colour and clear over this small masked off section of the car. Is this what you mean? If this is the case, yes the new paint will eventually flake off in X number of years time.  The easy solution is to scuff/prep all of the paint that hasn't been masked off in the repair area then lay the paint.  So you want to prep the surface, lay primer, then lay filler, then lay primer, then colour, then clear?  Life seems so much simpler if you prep, fill, primer, colour then clear.  There are very few reasons to go to bare metal. Chasing rust is a good example of why you'd go to bare metal.  A simple dent, there is no way in hell I'm going to bare metal for that repair. I've got enough on my plate without creating extra work for myself lol.
    • Hi, Got the membership renewal email but haven't acted yet.  I need to change my address first. So if somebody can email me so I can change it that would be good.
    • Bit of a similar question, apprently with epoxy primer you can just sand the panel to 240 grit then apply it and put body filler on top. So does that basically mean you almost never have to go to bare metal for simple dents?
    • Good to hear. Hopefully you're happy enough not to notice when driving and just enjoy yourself.
    • I mean, most of us just love cars. Doesnt necessarily have to be a skyline.
