heres what some american D-bags rate as the ten best features a new car should have..i think SAU members could come up with a better list though..

http://www.cars.com/go/advice/Story.jsp?section=top&story=car-talk-car-features&subject=more

mine would be '

1

mini gun mounted to front bar, using ultra light space age materials so as not to throw off the balance on track days but still powerful enough to take car of pesky lane hoggers..

2

cup holder that keeps drinks chilled, seen can sized ones in a friends Hyundai i30 so surely we can get large maccas coke sized ones that arent ridiculously shallow and in my centre console so i cant change gears if a drinks in it ala my R33

3

a radar/laser jammer that actually works and isnt ten gazillion dollars

4

wings for those pesky mornings on the M4, just find an open lane and soar into the clouds baby..good luck with the landing though..

5

inflatable all round bumpers for when the GF is driving or even just parking

6.

15 inch subs that can be heard ten blocks away but weight about ten grams..

7

a trunk monkey and for anyone thats confused by that elegant demand..

8

an iphone app that tells you where the car is when u lose it somehow..in fact i think this exists.

9

semi slicks that last FOREVER

10

and last but not least...some kind of hydraulic jack that lets you park it ten feet off the ground but with a footprint of just half a metre?

hey gimme a break its a long list ok!

you mean adaptive cruise control or cup holders?

both are pretty american but i would much prefer useful cupholders...mmm an icy cold easyway cup all the way home,..

which guy?

anyway what is so good about "BMW's valvetronic technology" not being a smart arse, genuinely curious as no idea how it works.

as for a steering wheel that pleasures you while you drive..wow. Government would probably regulate it to only work when the car is stationary lest people start careening off the road 6 minutes into their commute..

#11 rotating number plate holders (-yes with extra sets o' number plates)

#12 decent horn eg compressed klaxon

= my contribution to the Patrick list

PS have to go back over the list of what "M" made for 007

I've already stated in the falcodore thread, all the features I want on a car are already present in the R33 & most other cars made in the last 2 decades.

1) Air-Con (most important in WA's horrible 40C summer days)

2) Mp3 Stereo (ok this wasn't on the original car, but easy to install & if this was 5 years ago, I would have just kept the tape deck)

3) Power steering

4) Power windows

5) Power brakes

Thats all I really want/need.

All that other electronic garbage I find in todays cars I can live without.

Terry, cant believe i forgot rotating number plates! nice one.

fair enough Mayuri but this is more about fantasy gadgets than technology that is currently weighing down your mums camry, cmon theres gotta be some crazy thing you wish you could blink into existence..

oh and simpletool...where do u live? i simply must see this famous mouth and if possible experience it :P

something that turns down any offending music in the vicinity as i drive past :)

Bluetooth phone control that stops your missus from hearing anything incriminating your mates say to you whilst taking a call with said missus present. Except if she joined in.

Drives itself down to get serviced and returns itself home and/or gets you a kebab when you are blind at home.

on a serious note...

Satnav that doesn't send you around the world

Voice control that doesn't make you sound like a dork

Carbon ceramic brakes that don't cost a bomb in consumables

hey Terry ill put a pic up of the horns on mine over the weekend. rang Xspeed years ago to see if they had finished the intercooler install and all i could hear was my horns blaring away. the bloke on the phone explained when the guys saw the size of the horns they decided first thing to test when they finished was the horn volume. im always too embarrased to use em. they kinda have a stock look but you could blow up a senior citizens pacemaker with em.

hydraulic suspension that doesnt weigh a tonne, cost too much or negatively affect handling so those big speed bumps are a thing of the past and make it easier to get a jack under the car

and every car should have sun visors like my Vitara(others prob do and im just not up with the times)but they have a plastic insert which slides out to make them longer. can reach right to rear view mirror and full length of drivers and passengers windows so there isnt that pesky gap where the sun sneaks through

cloaking device haha

F1 type digital gauges

Infrared camera and windshield HUD/monitor (for avoiding idiots on the road wearing dark clothing, running from the police, ex, family, etc.)

Alcantra everywhere

Cylinder deactivation (save fuel)

HID

6 gears

I think that is about it for now.

cmon theres gotta be some crazy thing you wish you could blink into existence..

In that case, I want Doc Brown to install a flux capacitor into my R33 for time travel :P

& my car should be able to hit 88mph (~142kph) much easier than Delorean.

    • Look for broken wire or bad connector at the motor. Might not be it, but is worth starting there, as it is easy.
    • Hi everyone, I’m having an issue with my R32 GT-R. Sometimes, when the car goes over a bump or experiences some vibration, the 4WD warning light comes on the dashboard. When I check the code from the control unit in the trunk, it shows Code 19 – ETS Motor. However, everything seems to be working fine — if I turn off the engine and restart the car, the light goes away and everything functions normally. Has anyone experienced this before? Where should I start troubleshooting this issue? Thanks in advance!
    • I'm back from the dyno - again! I went looking for someone who knew LS's and had a roller dyno, to see how it shaped up compared to everything else and confirm the powerband really is peaking where Mr Mamo says it should. TLDR: The dyno result I got this time definitely had the shape of how it feels on the road and finally 'makes sense'. Also we had a bit more time to play with timing on the dyno, it turns out the common practice in LS is to lower the timing around peak torque and restore it to max after. So given a car was on the dyno and mostly dialled in already, it was time for tweaking. Luis at APS is definitely knowledgable when it came to this and had overlays ready to go and was happy to share. If you map out your cylinder airmass you start seeing graphs that look a LOT like the engine's torque curve. The good thing also is if you map out your timing curve when you're avoiding knock... this curve very much looks like the inverse of the airmass curve. The result? Well it's another 10.7kw/14hp kw from where I drove it in at. Pretty much everywhere, too. As to how much this car actually makes in Hub Dyno numbers, American Dyno numbers, or Mainline dyno numbers, I say I don't know and it's gone up ~25kw since I started tinkering lol. It IS interesting how the shorter ratio gears I have aren't scaled right on this dyno - 6840RPM is 199KMH, not 175KMH. I have also seen other printouts here with cars with less mods at much higher "kmh" for their RPM due Commodores having 3.45's or longer (!) rear diff ratios maxing out 4th gear which is the 1:1 gear on the T56. Does this matter? No, not really. The real answer is go to the strip and see what it traps, but: I guess I should have gone last Sunday...
    • 310mm rotors will be avilable from Australia, Japan, and probably a few other places. Nothing for the front can be put on the back.
    • The filter only filters down to a specific size. Add to that, the filter is AFTER the pump. So it means everything starts breaking your pump even if its being filtered out.
