Zaver
Hey guys, So i just got my ztune bonnet from carmate and when i tried to fit it on, i realized it wasn't a direct fit to the GTT hinges and latch, so i made up a bracket and it fits fine on the GTT hinges, but when the bonnet is completely closed down the hook doesn't reach the GTT bonnet catch and therefore doesn't lock into it. Has anyone faced this problem while fitting a GTR bonnet onto their GTT's and what can i do, because i tried modifying the latch myself but just couldn't get it done, Will the GTR bonnet latch fit up properly to this?? Or can a panel beater modify my current GTT latch to fit this bonnet?? What is recommended?? Im only worried about how much panel beaters would charge me to modify the latch.. This is a picture of the gap between the hook on the bonnet and the GTT catch.. Cheers and would appreciate any help!! R34P3R
i thought you needed a gtr one for a gtr bonnet Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/356242-r34-gtt-bonnet-latch-problems/#findComment-5700990 Share on other sites
john-e boi
You'll need a GTR vertical support as well as the bonnet latch. Have seen people beat the angled section from the latch connecting to the radiator support straight and modify the bottom section by welding or attaching a bracket to extend it to be able to bolt back to the car Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/356242-r34-gtt-bonnet-latch-problems/#findComment-5701058 Share on other sites
PewPew
I was in the same boat you were when I had my GTT. I made brackets like you and used bonnet pins to hold the bonnet down. I highly recommend genuine Aerocatch ones which you can pick up for just over $100. You bought a GTR bonnet and attempted to fit it to a GTT - It was never going to be a 'direct bolton'. It is very well known the modifications required to fit a GTR bonnet to a GTT, seems very unlikely carmate were unaware of that - perhaps they thought you had a GTR. Zaver
I ordered a GTR Ztune bonnet to fit a GTT, and was said it was a direct bolton, considering i thought they would make the bonnet fit the GTT hinges and latch.. The difference between the GTR and the GTT fit is minimal when they have to fabricate!!
