Hey guys thanks for all the replies im suprised by the support i knew i was gonna get the "Just get a 25 they are way better" but i dont want to do that. As for low down i was thinking in the end a getrag 6 speed but that costs a shit load so that can wait. For now im just going to do the bottom end and when money permits start building a head with all the gear. Does anyone know if Tomie still manufactures all there gear for Rb20s because i know they used to have a pretty comprehensive range. And thanks for the tip on GTS ill have a chat to them as they came out and did some quotes a while ago.

By building a head just stick with the basics and dont get carried away with porting, unless you are willing to get it wrong a few times. Solid lifters, some baby duration - high lift cams and some decent valve springs would do the job. I have Tomei cams, springs, retainers, RB24 pistons etc for an RB24. With a 26 crank it should be pretty decent for 9,000rpm if its screwed togehter correctly. The bigger problem is what to do with things like power steering pulleys etc which are driven at the wrong speeds at those sort of rpms.

To spin it up to 10,000rpm i think just stick with std bottom ends and just uprated cams, springs, oil pump and inlet manifold. The std inlet manifold falls off power after 7,000rpm where as aftermarket ones seem to hurt response a little but give you more top end. If the thing throws a rod then so what. You have transferable bolt ons that can go the next $400-600 wrecker engine. Rather then some $8000 motor with a lot of fruit

Although that said, I think we'd all love to see someone run a stock bottom end to 10,000 for a while just to see what happens.

Bets on #5 or #6 rod for me! Remember though if it throws a rod, head damage could indeed occur so it's not like he can just bolt on/off if it does shit itself in a epic fashion.

In all seriousness though Cameron - whilst everyone will always say the bigger motor.

You do need to remember you have a GTS4. A normal R32 GTS-t - ok not so bad with a 2ltr. But the extra weight, 4WD - you are pushing poop up a hill before you even start which really is the major disadvantage over and above anything else.

Perhaps not "what RPM", but what is the use of car and power you are chasing to perhaps look at this from a different angle

can the flywheel cope with being spun up to 10,000rpm, I'd be worried about that bad boy letting go and chopping my legs off.

Apart from that, it'd be pretty epic revving it's nut off. Go for it!

Hey guys well for now im going to build it so i is capable of high but i only have an rb25 turbo for now which is gonna do shit all at such rpm. So ill buy the gear put it together get it balanced and run in and leave all the other gear standard. And as for keeping stock internals well the main reason for this build is the pistons had a shit load of play. So i have a strong starting point for any modifications in the way of power it comes down to turbo selection to get the right power band i suppose. I dont expect this to get of the line great but drop a gear or 2 and it should go sick.

    • Yeh I think i'll message an old contact i had for ages that manages his own tyre shop now.. n tell him what i want n work with him before ordering..  Got this 17x9 +30 Driftteks on 245/45/17 PSR Drag Radials on the rear.. They fit well - for your reference in future - Rear guards  have been lipped in & minimal to non flaring of the rear Gaurds.    
    • If only it were that easy! I also needed to remove seats, shocks, brake calipers, send my car through a fence, and use measuring and ended up guessing because I didn't remove seats, shocks and brake calipers. It can be hard sometimes Can be a little more complex than 'just measure' if you want to truly measure the entire wheel through all of it's suspension travel. But if you aren't going for every last mm then yeah, you can check the space you currently have and guesstimate.
    • If you own a car, and it has wheels on it, and you know the offset of those wheels, and you have a measuring device, you have everything you need to work out if other wheels will fit.
    • Will this fit? but they are staggered set - RAYS 57DR SEMI GLOSS BLACK 18x8.5 +37 | 18x9.5 +38 5-114.3 STAGGERED SET   or If no go could just get a set 4's wheels of 18x8.5 +37 5-114.3 - would i run 8.5's 235s up front n 245's at the back if I do?   Thanks.        
    • Put a clamp on your return line. I have a feeling it's sucking air, and introducing bubbles to your fuel. With a lot of fuel, less problematic. I'd honestly be redoing all the lines in the tank and clamps on everything.   Also, you've given two different answers to the same question: Asked if being followed by the police you could get down to use the whole tank, you said yes you could, so long as you keep off boost. However, you then followed this up that free revving, it would also cause the issues. I'm doubting free revving is enough to make any noticeable boost on what is likely a decent sized turbo.   So now I have to ask, can you actually drive it lightly and use all the fuel, or does it break up even free revving? Also, have you put a fuel pressure gauge on it? Can you hear the pump change noise at all when you're having this issue?
