Combine both those Autech bars.

The S2 is flat at the bottom, the S1 (1st pic) isn't.

I dont like how the S1 flares on the sides as it heads back to the wheel arches though.

Keep it even along the sides, have that cut out in the middle rear, THAT, on a series 2 Autech.

If its even, it'll make the whole car look better when slammed. A bumper that is uneven in edge (ie S1 Autech, Uras, Dianna, etc) looks shitty. More "boxed" shape like S2 Autech. Does that even make sense?

As Toffy said, widder to accomodate Aus plates.

Yeah it makes sense, I like the sound of it. It's simple, but combined with the larger rear plate opening will be enough to no be considered a copy.

No plastic, no care. Fuck fibreglass.

I'll just wait for a gen Autech to show up at a wrecker in japan. Or plastic weld the stock bumpers... doin my golf's ones atm... it's not that hard:

shan can weld plastic hey ? :whistling:

Easter break is gonna be balls out work on golf and ceffy. have you seen the cef lately? full sun fade on the roof. I need a fkn carport.

Everybody wants plastic.... anybody willing to put money behind their comments and help pay the $25K up front fee to make the mold?

I sure as shit don't have that kind of cash and if I did it probably wouldn't be spent on making something that potentially only 50 people over the next 3 years would buy.

We'd have more luck conducting an email spam campaign on TRA Kyoto to make a ceffy kit than getting a plastic one made here at a reasonable price.

lawl. I know a mob in China that will copy anything with no regard for copyright, and all their stuff is plastic. They make the kits for Wald.

Costs are:

USD$18,000 to set up a mould

USD$500 per kit (Front/sides/rear)

Minimum order 300 kits.

So if we get 168 buyers at $1000 a full kit we should break even.

That's not so bad if it was a more common car like an S13. $16.8K outlay for everything, sell the kits for $700 each and you make a profit.

Plastic welding isn't that hard , as long as you know the basics about the different types of plastic .

^^^ This.

It's actually easier than fibreglass when you get the hang of it. Hard part is matching up the different plastics.

Symmetrical Series 1 Autech.

Needs a lip IMO.

Series 2 FTW.

And on that note, how about bigger side openings....perhaps big enough to show off a small oil cooler, instead of intercooler piping? ;)

Here's a quick chop - it's far from perfect - of a cross between the Autech S1 and TBO bars. Has a lip, larger & symmetrical air intakes and no indicator holes.

Thoughts? (aside from 'learn to photoshop')

That what's I was talking about when I asked about the indicator holes - not the side ones. I've never had any issues with not running indicators in the front bar even when the front bar fell off on the street a few times & I got pulled over for it, still no defect as the bar was in the car with me and I was 'on my way to the body shop' :)

    • Wife wanted basket things in the wardrobe in our temporary house. Thought about ripping our the wardrobe and fitting the entire IKEA set, but it's a temporary house and we want to move in a few years. So IKEA advertises this as a 50cm unit, however the actually basket and rails measure 46cm wide. Only issue was depth, IKEA stuff is quite deep, where as the builder special junk is super shallow at less than 40cm. Send it, chopped the rails, then offset the mounting holes, job done, happy wife, less shit scattered all over the bedroom. Did the same to the other side too. Also drove the Skyline shit box today, dropped off oil at Supercheap Auto. I didn't realise they only now take max 2x bottles per visit. I visited 2x Supercheap Autos.
    • I've seen similar actually in my situation. You never know what tables are attempted to be used when the car thinks it's -99C or +200C. The fail state is not usually that extreme but you know what I mean - it was in my case though! This is where being able to read all the sensors is useful cause you see this stuff really quickly.
    • The above is very important. However as long as you keep timing relatively low, it's plausible to make your own knock ears and plausible to learn to tune with a modern ECU that can do wideband O2 correction like a boost controller. I mean if you only have one viable road to even drive the car on, learning to tinker to this level may be worth doing given you can't do much else with the car...?
    • I find the fact that the rear plate has to be bent inwards at the rear not so bad: but the front is just awful: It's like come on. (these are my very old, now retired/turned in plates) TBH it is a lot of money to fix a minor issue, the fact I said "I'll never really spend the money on doing this" is why people ended up buying them as a gift for a 'car guy' who can be hard to shop for.. for car guy things.
    • I just bent the ends of my premo plates. It even went through Regency like that after the engine conversion and the inspector (a great bloke!) just squinted his eyes and said "I didn't see that". Plates, and how they look, are just something that have zero importance to me.
