lol, someone must know someone with 22": chromies on their rex/skyline would be an essential part of the george st scenery.

wandered into a costume shop yesterday, 70 bucks for 4 days for ninja outfits and 100 for the giant dog/bunny outfits for same period of time.

if you want to go all out then you can get the pucka stormtrooper outfits for a bit more but i might start out with ninjas...

may have to do a barbie to raise the funds..this is getting complicated.

if not the car prank matboy, what kind of vid do you mean? some street drifting? lol, good way to get on ACA instantly..

i was actually thinking the car idea, if someone linked it to this 'hoon' club could be cast with a bad light quite easily. I'm not sure of ideas, something clever and possibly witty. I'll give you an example when I think of one. Something more elaborate than just getting out and having a pretend costume fight (which would be funny as f*k) I'll get back to you shortly :P

Hey guys,

As long as someone does the organisation, story boarding and scripting I'm willing to help out with a bit of filming and editing. Just please keep in mind that for 1 hr filming you get a few minute of usable video and then those few minutes take hours to properly edit.

Not unlike proper photo editing. You can get an ok result just cutting, splicing and dubbing but the real finish comes from about 5-8 revisions fine tuning timing, audio and "Feel" effects.

It might be really funny to use the fisheye perspectives from the GoPro's. When you shoot from about 10-15 cm you get the really out of perspective fisheye effect. This could be used for some really dramatic out of proportion feel to enhance the funny bits. Also use of speed works well as long as the camera work is stable enough to not distract.

Might also be cool to do a tilt shift effect to make it look like a miniture stop motion deal - this would be much harder to film as you have to get the right perspectives, dof and background to make the tilt shift effect look convincing enough.

Some body needs to lock down the idea and story board it to get the best effect.

So I was about to lay down for a nanna nap and a couple of ideas came to me.

What if instead of a busy interesection it could be over a parking space at the mall. Maybe class between import dudes and muscle cars. Benm knows a bunch of camaro guys. So, could be some little old lady (anyone have a nanna that has a good sense of humour to be involved?) taking her sweet time backing out of the spot.

Both other cars arrive on the scene at the same time. Time for class of the rev heads! Imports -vs- Muscle. I think the idea of the dressed up crew would be funny - especially if filmed all getting out of the same car like a clown car. Then do it up video game style, maybe street fighter/mortal combat/etc but with silly comps. So like first one is a thumb war. Maybe the one of the gang cheats with a "Thumb" extension that makes their thumb way oversize.

Stuff like that. We could get some of the big guys from SAU like Benm, Andy Moo, Chubs, etc to act on the Muscle car size with the imports being represented by ninjas or some'n. There is a place in HK that does cheap custom t-shirts. Might be funny to do spoof type shirts for the muscle guys. So use logos like Everlast but pansy it up - pink, hello kitty peaking over the logo, stuff like that.

Videography could use extreme close up, fisheye and extreme speed ups to add humor. Also dramatic slow-mo for run up for the conflict (kill bill style) but then silly competitions.

The mall spot idea works because we can set up in an empty mall but use the extra's actors cars to make it appear busy and full. That way we don't risk run in with the law. Maybe that mall out in Erina Fair might be good on a Thurs night. Could set up in a corner and not interfere with normal operations.

I've got some royalty free music that might work. A composer dude puts his stuff on the internet. He writes/scores stuff for all kinds of video work including short films like this.

Well, anyways that's just what came to me right before my lazy Sat nap time.

....ideas?":P

* Old 'blind' 'homeless man' with tousled grey hair, arthritic limp, dark sunnies and aluminium walking frame struggles to get across a pedestrian crossing without bumping into some young energetic lady jogger >

* Fiddles in his pockets for keys as he reaches the other side of the road >

* His nice Skyline (with SAU sticker) comes into view >

* Dumps walking frame into the boot > falls into driver's seat > sighs as he grasps onto steering wheel holding his chest with Parkinson disease shakes >

* Winds down window > starts car > gives it a few 1000 rpms > kangaroo lurches out from kerb without so much as a head-check >

* A much older Skyline screeches to a halt for the old dude to pop out onto the carriageway > blasts his horn > yells to the old man, "They should take your licence off you old man & give your car to me!" >

* Old man shows middle finger

Don't you feel sorry for the old guy? lol

freakin awesome ideas guys, trust the oldies to take it to the next level!

fight over carspace which goes OTT has sort of been done by the 'fats pizza' guys in the first season of that ho hum and thankfully short lived Aussie comedy. It was probably one of the few funny scenes, the battle over a suburban spot escalates into an all out war with all kinds of weapons being pulled out until finally an irate resident sick of all the noise pulls out a rocket launcher or some such silliness and blows them all sky high.

Still it would be a little diff in a westfield carpark, easier environment to control as well, do multiple takes without holding up traffic etc.

be good to get some bemused reaction shots from random passersby and less chance some drunk will wander out of the 'three monkeys' and want to join in on the action.

rooftop of burwood/hurstville/eastgardens or macquarie?

lots of easy pickings...

ok well i vow to sort a dozen ninja outfits if we can get the volunteers, not sure if i will be in one or behind the camera but most likely directing the action as much as i would love to be getting in on it.

to put them up against nothing more specific than 'muscle' types in singlets and mullets could still work, applause for keeping it simple Eric, love it if you could get in touch with those 'big' guys and sound em out.

Would be easy to do your old man skit terry, know anyone old enough re casting it?

(hint hint)

k lets lock terrys idea down for end of may and build a ground swell for Erics to shoot in say mid june?

lol

...but Wakie is on 28th & AGM on 29th

aluminium walking frame (and white cane for good measure) already reserved from local pharmacy...

Winter Plan C:-

* Skyline stops to let elegant (SAU) lady in fur coat, high heels, matching handbag to get across a zebra crossing >

* She reaches the front of the "Line which toots the horn >

* She turns towards the car, flashes her lingerie for 1 sec >

* Car revs to 4000 2x >

* Lady ignores the fuss > walks on

Position Vacant:-

* Elegant lady to rock up for a vid-shoot and face off against a 'Line s**tbox (& perhaps an R35)?

* Must have fur coat, resistance to cold temps, nice long legs

* Benefits are that men will supply hot soup and warm coffee and hugs.

owen has a shitbox 33

awwww yeah!

oh yeah forgot about agm etc, maybe june then.

dont get the zebra crossing thing, she flashes you. car revs. she wanders off.

wha? anything to see a hottie in lingerie on a cold winters day though, do i need to draw a diagram to explain why?

lol you will have to spell out the scene for me again though terry...

good to know the cane etc is in reserve, anyone good at old people make up etc? do it like beastie boys did in one vid, i think jack ass also did it in there movie? i know trigger happy did something similar where the old man gets in everyones way going down some stairs then jumps on a bike and just rides off like he is a bmx bandit..

still think ours is worth doing as practice and just for kicks :)

  • 3 months later...

ok its august and i was feeling guilty about not getting the ball rolling on any of this yet so i thought i would at least stage a thread revival and annoy everyone with it again :P

Was jogging to some phat beats and thought it would be punchier to have a bunch of ninjas in the back of one Stagea in suits which MATCH the colour of the car for added cheesiness and then the same thing with the lead bogan mobile..

so i need someone willing to volunteer one of each car and tell me what colour their car is so i can order the outfits (have some taxback left over..0.

basic storyline is this..

1.light goes green.at busy intersection and Stag doesnt move off fast enough, bogan sedan gives it the horn and curses, gives it the finger..

2. stag pops rear hatch and out pop as many damn ninjas in matching outfits as we can get who surround the bogan sedan..

3. both cars start playing the same awesome music track at full blast at the same time while the bogan passengers jump out, rip off their shirts to reveal their own car matching ninja outfit and a few more suddenly appear out of the crowd on the footpath

(im still stuck on corner of george and liverpool for ultimate shock/production value)

4. A few choreographed fighting moves are exchanged which are almost like dance moves, as much in time to the music as possible..whole thing should be simple, like only a dozen or so movements to keep it short, sweet and simple. Every pair doing the same sequence.

5. lights cycle through to next green or moves are played through to their conclusion, people jump back in cars/crowd and walk/drive off as if nothing happened.

Win?

oh and before anyone asks, no the school holidays arent back on..I just never grew up.

Hi Pat, I've been giving your thread some more thought.

Reading on the lines of your last post, many people might think the concept silly or outrageous.

Vertical thinking implies that the ideas on this here thread are at the very least, quirky or odd.

But it's when I read between the lines, I see where you're coming from!!!

You see, lateral thinking demonstrates how TV shows like "Candid Camera" and "Just Kidding" became successful!

Well how about another one of the same ilk???

Consider this....

A 'car' is being sold on a vacant lot.

A very large sign is placed at the side of this said 'car'.

It says "50% OFF!!!"

Some SAU stooges come up and start fighting over the 'car'.

The winning bidder gets in the 'car' and drives off in his front Half-cut FWD!

I can only guesstimate that these great ideas tho' will require time, personnel and a decent budget.......

naah thats just plain silly man

:teehee:

seriously how would it not be obvious its missing the rear half?

im seeing how my idea reads as ghey but i still think it would look great if done right..

    • As discussed in the previous post, the bushes in the 110 needed replacing. I took this opportunity to replace the castor bushes, the front lower control arm, lower the car and get the alignment dialled in with new tyres. I took it down to Alignment Motorsports on the GC to get this work done and also get more out of the Shockworks as I felt like I wasn't getting the full use out of them.  To cut a very long story short, it ended up being the case the passenger side castor arm wouldn't accept the brand new bush as the sleeve had worn badly enough to the point you could push the new bush in by hand and completely through. Trying a pair of TRD bushes didn't fix the issue either (I had originally gone with Hardrace bushes). We needed to urgently source another castor arm, and thankfully this was sourced and the guys at the shop worked on my car until 7pm on a Saturday to get everything done. The car rides a lot nicer now with the suspension dialled in properly. Lowered the car a little as well to suit the lower profile front tyres, and just bring the car down generally. Eternally thankful for the guys down at the shop to get the car sorted, we both pulled big favours from our contacts to get it done on the Saturday.  Also plugged in the new Stedi foglights into the S15, and even from a quick test in the garage I'm keen to see how they look out on the road. I had some concerns about the length of the LED body and whether it'd fit in the foglight housing but it's fine.  I've got a small window coming up next month where I'll likely get a little paint work done on the 110 to remove the rear wing, add a boot wing and roof wing, get the side skirt fixed up and colour match the little panel on the tail lights so that I can install some badges that I've kept in storage. I'm also tempted to put in a new pair of headlights on the 110.  Until then, here's some more pictures from Easter this year.
    • I would put a fuel pressure gauge between the filter and the fuel rail, see if it's maintaining good fuel pressure at idle going up to the point when it stalls. Do you see any strange behavior in commanded fuel leading up to the point when it stalls? You might have to start going through the service manual and doing a long list of sensor tests if it's not the fuel system for whatever reason.
    • Hi,  Just joined the forum so I could share my "fix" of this problem. Might be of use to someone. Had the same hunting at idle issue on my V36 with VQ35HR engine after swapping the engine because the original one got overheated.  While changing the engine I made the mistake of cleaning the throttle bodies and tried all the tricks i could find to do a throttle relearn with no luck. Gave in and took it to a shop and they couldn't sort it. Then took it to my local Nissan dealership and they couldn't get it to idle properly. They said I'd need to replace the throttle bodies and the ecu probably costing more than the car is worth. So I had the idea of replacing the carbon I cleaned out with a thin layer of super glue and it's back to normal idle now. Bit rough but saved the car from the wreckers 🤣
    • After my last update, I went ahead with cleaning and restoring the entire fuel system. This included removing the tank and cleaning it with the Beyond Balistics solution, power washing it multiple times, drying it thoroughly, rinsing with IPA, drying again with heat gun and compressed air. Also, cleaning out the lines, fuel rail, and replacing the fuel pump with an OEM-style one. During the cleaning process, I replaced several hoses - including the breather hose on the fuel tank, which turned out to be the cause of the earlier fuel leak. This is what the old fuel filter looked like: Fuel tank before cleaning: Dirty Fuel Tank.mp4   Fuel tank after cleaning (some staining remains): Clean Fuel Tank.mp4 Both the OEM 270cc and new DeatschWerks 550cc injectors were cleaned professionally by a shop. Before reassembling everything, I tested the fuel flow by running the pump output into a container at the fuel filter location - flow looked good. I then fitted the new fuel filter and reassembled the rest of the system. Fuel Flow Test.mp4 Test 1 - 550cc injectors Ran the new fuel pump with its supplied diagonal strainer (different from OEM’s flat strainer) and my 550cc injectors using the same resized-injector map I had successfully used before. At first, it idled roughly and stalled when I applied throttle. Checked the spark plugs and found that they were fouled with carbon (likely from the earlier overly rich running when the injectors were clogged). After cleaning the plugs, the car started fine. However, it would only idle for 30–60 seconds before stalling, and while driving it would feel like a “fuel cut” after a few seconds - though it wouldn’t fully stall. Test 2 – Strainer swap Suspecting the diagonal strainer might not be reaching the tank bottom, I swapped it for the original flat strainer and filled the tank with ~45L of fuel. The issue persisted exactly the same. Test 3 – OEM injectors To eliminate tuning variables, I reinstalled the OEM 270cc injectors and reverted to the original map. Cleaned the spark plugs again just in-case. The stalling and “fuel cut” still remained.   At this stage, I suspect an intermittent power or connection fault at the fuel pump hanger, caused during the cleaning process. This has led me to look into getting Frenchy’s fuel hanger and replacing the unit entirely. TL;DR: Cleaned and restored the fuel system (tank, lines, rail, pump). Tested 550cc injectors with the same resized-injector map as before, but the car stalls at idle and experiences what feels like “fuel cut” after a few seconds of driving. Swapped back to OEM injectors with original map to rule out tuning, but the issue persists. Now suspecting an intermittent power or connection fault at the fuel pump hanger, possibly cause by the cleaning process.
