Hi

I have bought a pair of gtr r33 xenon headlights..i want to fit them to my r33 gtst..the bonnet, gaurds and front bar do not fit the headlights but..does anyone have another way that could be done? would changing to a gtr raidiator bar work?

please help if can

thanks

I think that u need to change guards, bonnet, bar and even the rio on the front Cause being skylines they dont fit each other..... I learned this after i bought a gtr carbon fibre bonnet and it not fitting U wanna buy it ? lol

Want to sell them to me for a song?

It sounds like you've got series 2 R33, cos someone here have one of these on his Series 1 (or 1.5) 33 GTST with stock bonnet, bumper and guards.

Onto a series 1 they bolt straight up.

GTR headlights and S1 GTST head lights are the same.

If they don't fit you have a S2. Unfortunately you have a huge job to make them fit. Should have done some research prior to buying them. I suggest selling them.

S3 xenons are NOT the same. the pickup points on teh bottom are different. there is a change somewhere in the radiator/headlight panels. there is a good 20-25mm difference int he panel->light mounting. next time I get a certain GTR in I will show you.

also make sure the ballasts are there if you do buy them

just had a bit more of a think about it:

OP has a s1or s1.5 therefore:

bonnet, front bumper, radiator/headlight panels need to change it s not a task for the lighthearted.

To make it a bolt on affair yes Chris. We didnt, we modded it.

Hmmm fair enough. I just assumed they were the same given S1 and S2 GTR headlights are the same as S1 GTST headlights and the S3 Xenons don't look any different.

the GTR I am talking about belongs to a customer of mine. car is a s1.5 and the lights S3. top/side mounts line up the bottom inner does not line up at all.

You can try to clear the code with a battery disconnect, hold down the brake pedal to drain capacitors through the brake lights with the ignition on for 10-15 seconds before you reconnect the battery. I have seen R35 coil conversion permanently cause this code with no ill effects so it might be the resistance it wants to see isn't quite right on one or more coilpacks. Could be inside the ECU, could be the harness, could be a coil. You can test it all if you want or just ignore until the car actually starts misfiring.
    • I forgot you have a Nistune ECU. Use Nistune to do all the tests I mentioned instead of faffing with 30+ year old electrical connectors. You can read MAF volts off that too, there are reference values in the service manual to tell you roughly what it should be in different conditions.
    • No. I think it might be the AFM. Hence the use of the terms "swaptronics", which implies the use of swapping out electronics for the purpose of diagnosis. It's about the only way to prove that a small/niggling/whatever problem with an AFM or a CAS or similar is actually caused by that AFM/CAS/whatever. A known good item swapped in that still gives the same problem is likely to be caused somewhere else. They're all the same. Spraying AFMs with cleaner is an each way bet between cleaning it and f**king it.
    • Oh wow! This might actually work amazingly. Do you know the ratio of the diff? I was told the only thing you need to make sure of is if the front & rear diff ratios are the same. Ours is a 4.083 Thanks!
    • You think its the AFM? I know its a common issues on R32s. I find it coincidental how this issue raised right after cleaning the fuel system. As everything except the fuel system was fine before. I tried running it with the IACV unplugged but did not notice a difference and still stalled. However, the RPM gauge is not in the cluster right now, so I will need to connect the laptop again and use Nistune to check the RPM. I will check this weekend.
