Thats not a very fair comment. Some people actually enjoy working on cars and helping people out. Not just out there to get rich.

hmmm..i do see your point...the gasket was from nitto though. They sell good stuff, dont they?.

i didnt say dont do it, I said only do it if you trust the guy, Ive seen some horror stories of the guy at the pub that said he would do it on the cheap..mostly i was trying to convince him to do it himself cause he thought he could

Getting is out is not that hard, getting the water banjos back on is a royal PITA.

Without a doubt, that is the hardest part!

Took me at least an hour to get the first one back on!! Then about half an hour for the next, and the last 2 were easy.

ive got a 3" dump. but when you run a small highflow (21U) around the track for 3 months the manifold and exhaust housing on the turbz don't last.

Mine is leaking atm (near blowing the gasket to shit) and will only do 1-2 more track days before it all needs to come out again.

wow that bad huh , cant upgrade to an OP6.

So you just have to pull it out and replace housing and manifold or just gaskets?

You must be doin quite a few trackdays then, im pushing more power through the same housing but it doesnt get flogged anywhere near as hard as yours, well not consistently anyway :P be interesting to see how it lasts I guess my ebay gasket will no doubt give up before anything else , at least I hope it does

Trent fixed her up for me last week too,, come round and have a drive if you like sometime its running great. 430nm at 3500rpm See what ya think ;)

you have all the easy but fiddly bits done. all you have left is the hard and fiddly bits with a side order of swearing to go. lol. don't worry, you'll get there

Yes, you are right .. now it is hard and fiddly.

(unsure which part of the work I like better)

I was meaning to remove the turbo yesterday, but had to buy 2 axle jacks first (poor excuse)

But I removed further piping and also prepared the turbo by undoing the locking clamps.

I remember when I first removed the cylinder head of my motorcycle, it took 4 hours.

After some practise I was able to remove it and put it back on in one hour :)

The Turbo is out ..

Worst bit:

The Water-Return-Pipe banjo bolt.

Also the turbo to manifold bolts gave me much less trouble than expected, thankfully I had an ultra slim ring-spanner

in my toolbox ... and it was even 17mm! :) The spanner did fit right over the nut, so I was lucky.

I did not remove the dump-pipe from the turbo, it was not a problem getting the turbo out.

(Just removed the 3 nuts from the downpipe to dump-pipe connection.)

Would I do this again?

Yes, but only in a proper garage ... not in an underground parking space.

Good point, yes .. I plugged every opening with a cloth ..

Especially the pipes to the inter-cooler which are now wide open .. don't want any clip ending there, and then being vacuumed

by the turbo ...

Becareful with the compressor outlet of the turbo or any other opening eg cooler piping etc. Cover them up with rags or similar, its very easy to drop something in them.

    • Out of curiosity, how do you cover up the inspection hole? Surely it doesn't sit open like that, right? With grime and dirt coming in and oil going out?
    • Hi from Canada, Both of my calipers are starting to fail. My car is a 2005 M35 Stagea ARX and I can't seem to find any parts or any cross reference caliper that would fit my car. Is there a company or a similar caliper that would fit and I could replace the OEM one. Or if anyone knows where I can find a new OEM. Any help is very appreciated. Let me know!
    • Maf is a question mark but TPS  I have set at 0.47, the fact that I’m getting proper voltage range out of it with the key on leads me to believe it’s functioning properly. I’m getting proper voltages on basically everything. I still need to look up voltage ranges for z32 maf and test that 
    • Honestly no not at all, but it’s a very basic tune, it’s stock injectors q45 tps and z32 maf. Other than that it’s a completely stock base map. The file is from nistune and from my understanding if it was tune related I would be able to unplug maf and tps and it would still start even if it was a really shitty start. I have tried starting it with coolant temp, maf, and tps unplugged none of those 3 togethor or individually changes anything
