No, and couldn't care less. Or about the one before that, and before that, and before that, or any other melodramatic media bulls*** they can brew up to publicize the wrong doings of a minority of "motorists" making life hard for honest citizens whose hobby isn't knitting, lawn bowls, golf, going to bed by 8pm, or watching Today Tonight.

There will be another hoon story every time grandma >insert typical 1940's name< sees a car that is different to her Cortina (with stuffed tyres, suspension, brakes, lights blowing smoke at every throttle application and rusted out body patched with duct tape, a vehicle that is ACTUALLY dangerous on the roads, wielded by a driver who can't see any further than the windscreen or apply her shot brakes with arthritic legs), and comes to the conclusion that after years of media smothering about the modified car culture and how much of a mob of basta**s every last one of them is, should call someone and whine about how once there was a car that had one wheel go through a full revolution without the vehicle moving in piss**g rain.

Budget is out by $50 billion now, clean your windscreens so the yellow stickers stick easily....

Spot on. It's frustrating to say the least. What was funny though was the things they were defecting the cars for, things like painted side walls... I almost fell of my chair.

To true about old people and old cars... I see it on a regular basis and it confuses me how they can still be on the road and me with a mechanically A1 car will get defected cause my car looks good....

Lol. My bad. Just used that as an example as we had that exact car with aforementioned owner in for work the other day, makes you wonder how they keep the damn things on the road...

And they sure as hell would never pass a road worthy inspection if they ever did get defected... Yet if I changed my exhaust, legal car, but I have a higher chance of getting defected...

i think every single person involved with tv shows like ACA and today tonight should be arrested and jailed for terrorism!! (im not joking either!!!) every night they get on tv with the specific purpose of insighting mass histeria, fear and irrational panic among the large mass of dumb sheep that watch their program. in the entire life of their programs they have never once presented a clear unbiased and non judgemental program. that is plainly evident by the way they use spooky music when talking about some1 that declines to comment.

id like to give a big shout out to the makers of the simpsons for sending up dumb shows like today tonight with their classic rock bottom episode!! if you havent seen it, go watch it, absorb its message and then piss yourself laughing next time someone tells you they belived what they seen on ACA.

All i got out of it was they like to crush cars in Melbourne compared to the Two they have done in Adelaide !!!!

Lol at the practicality of crushing "hoon" cars.

"Well, the car was deemed safe to be released to the owner after 2 offences, but now we've deemed that EVERY part of the vehicle is too unsafe for 2nd hand parts or sale, so we'll crush it and make a big fancy scene..."

F***. Never thought if it like that, nice angle! Haha.

What is a pisser is when they admit they get it wrong, and the story they just aired with black and white slow-mo out of focus mis-guiding video of someone who is accused of selling drugs to pre-schoolers or something, turns out to be the squeaky clean white collar kinda person with a family of four and regularly donates to charity. And they throw in a 3 second apology "we were wrong, about everything, kthxbi" to mask up a 15 minute dragged out story containing mostly interviews form "secret" informants who once sold the guy some panadol and they think he's a real dodgey prick. Then a segue to:

"And now, modified car events, they're all bast**ds, heres some footage of someone doing a skid at power-cruise, it's loud and visually aggressive, be scared of it and call someone next time you see a car!!!"

+1. I ran a 64 Cortina with an exceptional reworked head, Webbers, extractors, 2" lowered on Falcon rims (OMG they were wide) AFAIK it was street legal, and for safety it was fitted with full harness seat belts and Pirelli tyres that in 64 cost me 250 quid. My wages then were 25 quid a week. I had the car for four years and it loved to work. My only problems with it was it used to pop the bendix off the starter motor and break generator brackets until I got beefed up versions.

,

In those days it could have been a real hoons car and I must confess that I did do a bit.Being in a serious Car Club kept me reasonably straight as nearly every week there was a track/rally/drag meet somewhere. But we used to congregate at the local burger bars and push the limits now and then.

So there is nothing NEW about hoons except now they contribute heaps to the Public Purse.

Oh yes, they seem to maim and kill a lot of innocents.

    • Working through possible solutions of converting my mechanical speedo.    Anyone know what type of speedo sensor the factory r34 gtr getrag has ? what the output is ? I assume its not a VSS and more a voltage like earlier speedo sensors ? Can an ECU read it ?
    • roof rail delete used to be a thing, they were made locally for a while too
    • I can get more photos of it here soon and I plan to make a thread detailing the process. I received the car this way and it sorely needs refinishing. That is probably the most appealing photo of it. Up close it is fading, cracked, and needs to be re-glued. Depending on their condition I'm on the fence between refinishing or making a new set.  Another angle hiding the pimples and razor pumps
    • According to this thread the RS4V with build plate RC40 comes with the R200 diff @ 4.083 ratio as well (mine has said RC40 denotation). We may need to check if the axle stubs are the same pattern as well. The auto subframes have longer axles. However I think yours being a later Series 2 as well, we should have the same bolt pattern for the diff stubs. Unless your upgraded rear also has upgraded axles. Either way, I would not be opposed to pulling the covers to check so I can inspect that  fancy rear core  Also I don't have HICAS. I don't believe that should change things but I hope the people here with heaps more experience than me can correct me if I'm wrong   Let me know if you want to attempt to make this work and I can get some pictures of mine from under the car.
    • It's not that straightforward. For example I have had this code because my ignitor/power transistor wires were unplugged. It knows something is wrong but has no idea what it means. If you want to actually diagnose this I recommend following the service manual flowchart for code 21. Ohm out the harness, coilpacks, inspect the ECU, etc. And again, it's entirely possible for there to be no problem at all but if you're running a different coilpack it'll trigger the code because it doesn't like what it sees.
