Hey guys,

Recently purchased a new r34 gtr mspec (pride and joy) and am slowly buying bits and pieces for it. Just want to know what you guys think as far as exhausts go, Either from experience or word of mouth?..

I've got two second hand systems in mind that I'm looking at, at the moment, a nismo weldina full systemand a custom 3.5" titanium system (stainless front pipes rest of the system is titanium)

I'd stick to a Japanese system over Chinese with your GT-R

If both of those on offer are Japanese made, then Nismo, Kakimoto, Fujitsubo and HKS systems are all desirable exhausts. Blitz and Greddy front pipes are really good too.

Hi Flo cat on offer?

Definately get something with mufflers or else you'll suffer serious drone.

Titanium is great if you want light weight and will potentially track your car. Just bear in mind, I don't think there's anyone who can repair Ti easily.

As for the Nismo system, I believe others have made comment around it being overpriced for what it can do.

Hmmm.. Tough choice.. Just say I'm going to be spending $1500-$2000 to start with, what would be the best system I could get for that? And/or what kind of bits should I be looking for to start with?.. I'm not after a real high pitched note, more of a nice deep growl without the drone..

Also does anyone know any places around the Newcastle/ sydney area that have second hand systems? Thanks for all your help guys.. 

You tube gives a decent indication on exhaust note. Definitely get a high flow cat. Based on your budget id suggest stainless steel unless u find a bargain. Don't know how cops are in your area but legally, remember the limit is 90db. No way you will get that quiet but the closer the better.

I know exactly the two exhausts you are looking at ;-)

The Nismo Weldina system is pretty rare but I would suggest the Ti system is way better value.

I have a Amuse Ti pipe that only has one muffler and it does drone quite a lot.

But it really is not a problem for me (even the wife does not complain) as it is a weekend/touring car.

We did 1600km over easter if that shows how manageable the drone is.

As for total Db, I have still got to get that checked, but we are still quite lucky over here in NZ

Here is a quick vid of what mine sounds like

Bear in mind and equal length front pipe makes a huge difference to how smooth the sound is.

    • Sorry to hear your HFM BM57 was faulty,  did you contact HFM I would hope they would be at least grateful for the information if there was some sort of manufacturing fault, you would hope they would be sympathetic even if your item was 2 years old if it had never been fitted. May I ask where it leaked from ?
    • Cats are called Bella, and Donna...  Like that poisonous plant And I remember your 2 monsters, I remember making a little bit of wee when you let them out... LOL I have already installed cat doors into the laundry where their kitty litter is, and the sun room, apart from the cat doors there's not going to be any permanent mounted stuff on the interior walls (interior doors are cheap and easy to replace) I will get a outdoor cat cage thingie once I finish the landscaping out back... https://catnip.com.au/ The only off limit areas are the main bedroom and the gym room....but, currently the cats are curled up in bed, in the main bedroom with the Mrs.....LOL, the off limits for the kittens to the main bedroom lasted about 5 minutes with Jackie I currently only have 1 free standing huge cat tree multiple level scratching post thingie in the lounge room, but, I will be getting another one soon now that I'm happy with the furniture layout in the back room and have a perfect spot for it
    • All of this is making it seem clear that running the Coppermix twin was definitely the way to go, especially in hindsight with how insane tariffs have gotten and the strength of the USD vs yen at the time.
    • That sounds like no chance of even importing one for road registering then Now I see why Duncan wants to check LHD rules for Targa...   I wonder how "bolt in" the AWD would be if you got one imported from the US and swapped it to an AUD one
