SUP.

this thread is for community spirit i guess... this thread is about..

let's list the imported / JDM / AUDM japanese cars that you do and don't "wave" or "give the thumbs up" to... feel free to elaborate on why you do it..

me:

GIVE KUDOS TO:

R32 Skylines - you guys are a good bunch who usually spread love back

C34 Stageas - again, you guys are a good bunch of blokes, who usually aren't afraid to give a wave if someone's waving @ u

Z30 Soarers - I'd rather not cos most of them are Ugandan

Z20 / Z10 Soarers - these i go nuts for. anyone driving this in 2011 deserves a medal

Ke70 corolla / JZX series cars / any and all bizzare imports like Y34 / Y31 / A31 / C210 / MA61 / JZA70 / R31 etc.. i give it up for these dudes daily..

I DONT GIVE KUDOS TO:

WRX - these guys are not cut from the same cloth

EVO - these guys tend to thumb their nose at me

Nissan Z cars - again, usually driven by owners who just dont "get it"

R33, R34, V35 drivers - again, most of these drivers particularly R33 drivers dont show love to me they just look down their noses at me so i show no love to them.. i'm also noticing an increase of drivers of these cars who are not on the forum so i dont bother... sorry guys!

M35 stageas - just no.

Galant / Legnum drivers - again these owners seem to think they're exempt from showing love to JDM owners..

what about you guys? do you have a "no" list?

a yes list? what is it and why

If i know the person down here (ie bunbury) i wave, otherwise the rest i dont bother as they hoon around and cause trouble. Up in perth if i'm driving the 32, which hasnt happened in a while, i will wave if they wave pretty much. The early Z's down here are usually tucked away and don't come out much, these guys i chat to a bit when i work in town and we get along ok. Silvias are the same, quite a few down here are kids and arent polite

Dan i am SO NOT on your no list. and you know that.

im on your YES list!!!!

and bubba - obviously i wave to R33/34 owners that i know / previous customers i've served etc! :) those guys get a wave

if i feel spicy i even give then a double peace sign out the sunroof - you know you got me going when you get one of them!

my other no list: X-trails! :P

another thing i have on my "no love" list:

any Nissan S series cars. they're jealous of me i think. give me daggers everytime so i just glare back like this:

OH AND AND AND!!! one more thing!!!!

i was outside washing my car the other day at 6pm on a friday, as you do... and i hear

VvvvvvRRRRRRMMMMM PSSSSHHTTTtut tu... VrrRRrrrRRrooOOOOPSHHTTTtttu tu tu...

casually driving up my street, head down to see what it is...

it's a mid 1980's datsun stanza with an RB engine and a tiny little polite front mount.. and some wide 15inch rims...

i wave.. car flashes beams at me and waves back...

the driver:

A hot brunette with a sexy fringe and black frame gasses. cute as hell.

im in love.

Hot. BRB stairwell.

why not an M35 Stagea?

whats wrong with us?

I get snobbed by every M35 I come across. The only M35 driver I haven't been snobbed by was andynogo but I ran into him on foot at the shops :P

Oh and a few of us C34 boys rolled into Carousel HJs carpark on night before heading into the hills. There was a couple of R33s, and R34 and maybe an S13.. there was also a towtruck driver near us eating dinner. Some smart ass skyline driver was like "huhuhuh the towtrucks here to pick the Stageas up"

So before we left, we watched one of the Skylines being put on the back of another flat bed that rocked up

Unfortunately, that was the night I snapped my gearbox :(

P.S. Aaron, I love your avatar

Eps man, yumad4? You do a lot of raging about people not waving to you :P

Me, I wave to all imports if I see them in time. And if I'm driving next to one, I give them some bov love and a wave :D I hardly ever get any love back though. Most people look at me like I'm a nutjob. Others think I want to race so they just take off...

At least... :ermm: At least I think that's why they take off...

    • What does it look like with highway driving? And yes, I had a similar thought as Duncan. It looks quite similar in my Stagea and I have made myself accept it as normal. Might have to look into it some day
    • While I was waiting for the new parts to come in for the charge pipe and radiator I decided to do some turbo modification. The drive pressure (exhaust backpressure) was a lot higher that I thought it should be. For 32lbs of boost drive was 55lbs. The turbine housing is a 1.10AR and my turbo builder has suggested to go to a 1.25AR. To test if a larger AR would do anything to reduce drive pressure AND not spend any money I decided to hog out the divider in my current housing. I removed it from the inlet and the whole way through the housing.  After reassembly and testing it doesn't look like this modification did anything for reducing drive pressure or requiring more fuel (making more power). Oh well, it was worth a shot. We'll get some data at the track if it makes it past the 60ft. I also machined a $7 shift knob off Amazon to fit my Stillway shifter since I didn't like the Stillway shift knob. Next on the list was the radiator replacement and fabrication of a new intercooler tube that had no silicon coupler. No pictures of this - I was short on time each night after work to get this done and didn't stop to take pictures.  Next was to get the clutch disks out and replaced. Previously when installing the dogbox I had ordered a set of the same sintered iron disks I had been running because I switched to the 26-spline input shaft. I thought it was odd that they didn't have any markings or brand name on them like all my old disks had but installed them anyway. At the track I could not get the clutch to lock up using my normal strategies. After two track nights I reached out to the clutch manufacturer and ask their thoughts. They said they had to switch the material out because they were having trouble getting the original material and that this new material would not take to being slipped very well.  So out with the first set of 26-spline disks and in with the correct material 26-spline disks. While I had the trans out I added an inspection/service hole. I've wanted one of these for a while. Now I can have a look at things and change the front cover shimming when needed (clutch wear). I hustled and got the clutch change done in a few hours on a Saturday. Hopped in the car and drove home. On the way home I did a 1-3 pull. When shifting from 2nd to 3rd the core plug in the back of the cylinder head popped out and dumped all the coolant. Thankfully I was only 30 seconds from home and coasted it there. Datalog showed nothing unusual and 2.5psi of coolant pressure. That plug has been in there since 1992 but I guess it worked its way out. Pulled the trans AGAIN and replaced the plug, JB welded it in, and made a brace. Also deleted the head drain I had added in during the bearing issue fiasco.  I am currently changing my boost control plumbing to make it cleaner. After that is done I'll make another attempt at getting past the 60.
    • Are you 100% sure this isn't tune related?
    • 140-150 across the board. At this point hoping the grounding harness fixes it. My grounds are all tied to the chassis and none to the battery. For SR and KA that’s never been a problem for me but had a few other guys here and Reddit who told me RB really like a very solid ground setup tied to the battery so going to try that next, I’m stumped if that doesn’t do it. Never had a car have spark and fuel and not fire off before. Only thing I can think is the spark is intermittent/weak because of grounds nothing else really makes sense at this point
    • I am having close to the same issue. Can you help me with what wire you grounded to get your pump to trigger?
