yay! got the stag back!

now for the running in period....

Awesome!

In other news, I've passed my Personal Trainer workshop/exam which ran over Saturday and Sunday. 2 days of full on revision, screening, testing and programming. Another 2 more months then I'll be a qualified Master Trainer. :D My current qualifications means that I can walk into a gym, and if I tell you you're doing it wrong ... then you are! :P

... but I'm feeling it today. The exams were physically and mentally draining.

Did you build the motor?

I paid Boostworx 4k to pull out and strip down the engine, to supply new CP pistons, clean head for reassembly, completly recondition the block including bore/hone/refacing, polish the crank, supply & fit new ACL race bearings & new welch plugs, new MLS head gasket, turbo lines, etc. Tune will be included in a thousand kms time, just have a hundred to spend on fluids/filters. Drives nicely, got home mid-arvo and refitted the big brake kit - yet to test. Really needs a wash and clean inside/out.

happy with the work performed.

Thanks mate, good on you. Would be a very interesting course to study.

I'll be getting myself to Southbound gym as soon as I can afford to; time to rebuild my body as I exercise my mind with my study. Almost finished going over the Anatomy text book, once finished will start on some note taking.

Ive been down a very dark road in my life for a number of years now. Im glad Ive come through it, and am very positive about what my future holds for me. With hard work now over the next 4years Im sure my life experience will help me to being able to help others.

Since your now a qualified trainer Rueben could you advise me on leg exercises that are possible for me to do at the gym considering Im without patellas? Calf raises (weight stack over shoulders), hamstring curls, maybe leg press but not sure about that tbh, & I doubt I can do leg extensions; certainly cant do squats. Not sure what else I'll be able to try?

sad day for music!

my 32 is getting picked up tomorrow.

the soon to be new owner asked if i would register the car, and he would pay me back so he can tow it behind a car rather than hire a trailer/tow truck.

i said no on the basis that i do not want the car freshly registered in my name, cos i dont want the risk of wearing all the fines that could potentially come.

THEN he asked for the VIN, plate and engine number so he can register it in his name.

i said no cos then he could possibly be the legal owner before the sale...

he has not responded.... what could possibly be next???

Why didn't you register it?

Once he has signed the disposal notice there is no chance that the fines would come back onto you. You can also fill out a notice of disposal and hand that to Motor reg if your really worried.

i would have registered if that was true.

the disposal notice has no effect on a fine when it is issued. if the new owner did not trasfer rego, i would still be the registered owner and potentially get speeding/red light fines and have to stat dec them into the new owners name.

Yeah when I bought my car in Melbourne, the previous owner agreed to leave it registered as long as I signed a stat dec saying I'd taken ownership. Made it heaps easier being able to drive it for a week or so before I was able to get to regency to swap the rego.

i couldnt count the number of fines that i have seen that have been incurred in the previous owners name regardless of disposal notices, it may be a data entry problem/human error, but i have no faith that i would not get the potential fine

you'd be fine Carl......worse come to worse, you sign a stat dec if a fine comes your way with proof of sale....end of story

I sold a Honda Prelude years ago and incurred 2 speed fines over a 6 mth period cause he never did the transfer.....all I had to do is provide proof of sale bud

+1

When I bought my GTR off Writeoff, he happily gave me all of those details because I needed them a) to get the secured loan and b) to insure the car with shannons so that I was covered *the moment I got in the vehicle* (wasnt gonna fall into THAT trap after doing my 12 months of research)

And if he ever had any problems, he could have always printed out his bank statement showing a 5 figure bank transfer from my bank account...

    • It was a great, but typical track day, and some VB was ingested at the night time debrief 🤪
    • And so, to round this out, I couldn't be happier to confirm @MBS206 has decided to buy the car. He drove down from sunny QLD with a trailer last week and it is off to its new home today. I'll let Matt confirm on next steps but I understand broadly that the plan is to leave it pretty much as is, and just get some quality wheel time with a nicely balanced car that is pretty much track ready. There are a few a jobs still to be done first but nothing too major and I think its a very smart buy Dinner last night at the Paragon with a round of VBs (mostly) for Neil
    • Well, 50 pages and the end of a chapter for this car. We took it out for a shakedown at Wakie yesterday, and everything went well. There were a couple of niggles: - Oil cooler fitting leak - tightened, cleaned, stopped leaking - Radiator cap overflow fitting was leaking....Mark called it, the overflow fitting was threaded in and not tight....tightened, tested and held pressure - Small oil leak at the rear of the block, probably the turbo oil feed - too hot to get at it comfortably but probably just needs to be nipped up - leak at the driver's side rear brake line where it meets the hardline. Fitting wasn't loose, so Matt backed it off and back on, no further leaks - there's also a leak somewhere on the top of the fuel tank, maybe that cross over fuel line - that was has been left to fix when its on a hoist Otherwise than those niggles the car went great, turned great and stopped great so it was a very successful day out. I'm always really nervous when a car first hits the track after a long break, especially with a brand new engine as well but it was great. VID-20251011-WA0007.mp4  Big thanks to @The Bogan who dropped by and helped out, @MBS206 and my nephew Lachlan the apprentice.  Neil's wife Mel also surprised the hell out of all of us by dropping by; she's up in Tamworth these days but was travelling to Melbourne so had plausible deniability for turning up at the garage, it was great to see her but also obviously a bit sad all round.

    • Unsolicited advice? Keep the engine as close to stock as you can. Nothing wrong with adding some boost and making a little more power, but given where you are, you really don't want to try to make it into a monster. I can't imagine the roads are up to it, and the lack of locla support when it grenades will be a ball ache. FWIW, If there is a dyno around that you can access, then brand new injectors are a good idea, which will lead you to (at least) putting a Nistune in it, which will allow you to put an R35 AFM on it, all of which will make it possible to make it much much nicer to drive and live with.
