Drove a my mates parents ve gts just yesterday, and its an awesome car.. no doubt about it. Hands down 100x better than any other commodore or hsv i have driven, having said that its not in the same league as a 35 gtr, and i can say that without driving a 35.

does the gts actually have an "oversteer-o-meter" as described on the 2nd page of the pdf? that is rather humerous.

anywhoo, gotta agree with the aboves, dont think the hsv's in the same league as the gtr. but im just basing that off dad's r8.

^ yes!! It has all this f**king techy computer in the middle of the dash that displays so much shit.. You can bring up a meter which measures the torque while you are driving, g forces, a tachometer etc etc you can even adjust the damn exhaust note with it.. We spent ten minutes just looking at it trying to work out what the hell to do with it haha.. I was a little undecided to be honest, it may be too much.

One's a taxi on a generic platform trying to be a sports car, the other is a purpose built sports car trying to be a taxi (daily driver).

Like trying to compare my very quick F6 (which does 130mph+ passes) and the R35 ... pretty much a waste of time.

The way i see it, the article itself was a good read, and both are nice cars.. Why not compare em? I have seen worse comparisons. Also as far as price brackets go, sometimes they are beside the point and sometimes cars half the price come out on top. (35 vs 911 turbo etc)

Edit- Also most of us probably knew the outcome before reading it!

I still dont get this wank about how the GTR is so "technological" and the GTS and others aren't. All usually (misguidedly) based on the dashboard display which from what you're saying is as high tech on the GTS as it is on the GTR. GTS has traction and stability control and lots of computers as well. Only thing lacking in comparison is a torque vectoring diff. The ATTESA system has been around since the first GTR and last time I looked Ferraris and Porsches all had electronic aids helping distribute power to all 4/2 wheels. Yet no-one accuses Ferrari of having no soul or being tech overkill because of this. The more I read the more think the belief is that noise+ oversteer=soul and jap = soul-less. Well on that basis my 460 XC coupe must be the most emotionally inspiring car in the world.. Shit yeah it's fun..That's if you can keep your licence and car long enough driving like that on our roads. But it's also so much fun feeling that incredible out of this world slingshot when you power the GTR out of a corner flat knacker! Whatever floats your boat. Get yourself a midpipe if noise is what's lacking in your GTR. After years of similar reporting there's too much confirmational bias in this argument now for it to be balanced anymore. GTS isnt slow because of lack of electronics. Its slow because its a big tall 2 wheel drive compromised family car ....

Seriously? Too many comparos forget about price brackets. This is like comparing a 330ci to a C63 AMG. Or an R35 to an HSV GTS...

How about R35 vs W427 :/

Wheels or Motor (cant remember which) actually did that already. Price bracket was the same.

    • Yes I can see how that would put you off HFM, especially with the price of good quality brake fluid. From what I understand it as you say the BM50 is the standard BMC for a R32 GTR, I must admit I would like to go far a Genuine Nissan BM57, but lack of cash prevents that at present. With the price being so close between the genuine BM50 and BM57 a BM57 New it seems a better choice as you gain that 1/16 bore size with the BM57, I would be interested in how much difference you feel with the BM57 fitted. I am going to take SteveL's advice in the short term and see how much actually comes out of that proportioning valve vent and save up for the Genuine Nissan part. Thanks for clarifying the HFM failure
    • Thanks mate. I just got the post inspection 1/2 done from state roads when the starter motor packed up, either that or the car alarm system is having trouble.  OEM part number 23300-AA112.
    • Hi, I though I was coming to an end in finding a replacement starter motor for a rb25de neo. I came across a starter motor from Taarks and a message below stating: Direct fit. 11 Tooth count. All below part numbers have been superseded to 11 teeth. Can some body shed some light on going from 8 teeth to 11 teeth apart from 36-month / 25,000 km warranty for passenger vehicles to 12 Month Warranty. Compatible with the following Nissan part numbers: 23300-20P00 23300-20P01 23300-20P05 23300-20P10 23300-20P11 23300-AA111 23300-AA112 23300-AA300 23300-08U10 23300-08U11 23300-08U15
    • Low battery? Maybe check capacity? I know first-hand, on BMWs if your battery drops below 80% capacity, it starts causing strange issues.
    • 8.5 +37 = should fit rear, but I think it'll hit on front. What you want is low 30s/high 20's front, mid 30's rear. That 17" screenshot you posted looks good, I'd run it on my R32 (but that's long dead now). For tyre sizes, my rule of thumb is: 8': 235, 9": 255. But that's just my opinion. Nismo sizes: 18x8.5+35/18x9.5+38 is a good starting point.
