i know there is quite a few threads out there about this and i've read through a lot of them

i probably see redline mentioned the most and for every post for redline there is someone to post against it for whatever reason, as well as motul

i've just bought a gt-t, i've already done the engine oil and will be looking to do the g/box and diff soon.

i don't mind spending money for decent quality gear

is there really a problem with redline (seen a lot of people mention it's not for gearboxes with syncros)? though i've not seen that for sale at autobarn/supercheap here in brissy

same goes for motul?

or should i be just looking at castrol gear?

thanks

shit wrong forum section

yeah that seems to be what a lot of people are saying

redline lightweight shock proof?

For what it's worth the gearbox is in really good condition the gears practically click into place, can be hardish to get into first and 2nd when cold though. No crunching

should i go redline mt90?

I think the reason alot doubt on the redline is because it is made for racing not daily driving so there is no real need to put it in a street car..same goes for stuff like motul 300v chrono engine oil.its not designed for driving to the shops its designed to go round a track at 200+kmph so putting it in your daily is not only a waste of money it could potentially do more harm than good

so the question is what are you using the car for..

anyway there is a whole thread on driveline oils if you cant figure it out for yourself you havent read the thread properly and asking again here isn't going to give you a NEW answer because we have all read the same thread..

At the very start there is this

For a sticky.............................

What we use;

4WD Transfer = Castrol Transmax Z

Automatic Transmission = Castrol Transmax Z

Manual Transmission = Castrol Syntrans 75W-85 or Castrol Syntrax 75W-90

Differential = Castrol SAF-XA

this man races cars, I believe with some success so maybe he knows a little about oils..

However if you are thrashing the crap out of your car sideways well you may think you want a little extra protection so you could spend on the redline, just remember its designed for high powered racing if this isnt you its a waste of moeny.

So the question is, are you racing a high powered skyline or just driving a skyline?

yeah arthur, i completely forgot about this section of the forum when i posted this thread, i originally posted it in another section it was moved here by an admin

i've been through that thread and yeah i will go with castrol

it's a daily with maybe 3 or maximum 4 track days a year in it

dont get the vmx-80..

I did cause it was cheap but its junk, well its ok once it warms up, but it takes half an hour to warm up :)

Get a multigrade, Ill be getting the syntrans or even the penrite gear oil is ok too I think, it feels good in my diff anyway

    • Hi. Can someone tell me what brakes(and mainly WHERE) can i buy brakes on R34 GTT? I bought some EBC which SHOULD go on my car(i have GT but it has GTT brakes) but it does not fit, Brakes are "too" small(296mm) Are 310mm be good or? I have 17 inch wheel so no "big boys" but for me driving i just need one that fits and i can get here in EU/Czech.
    • Since winter isn't that harsh anymore in Poland, i will definetely drive it 365 days a year 😉. But if the snow hits i will try it for sure and let U know. Only swap i am planning to do is of course R34 GTR front 😍.
    • Hey. Very valuable information about pitwork, I will pay attention when buying any consumable parts 🙏 As for the carpets - I got a handful of information from nengun, from which it appears that indeed the carpets for the driver's side are OEM. They are not able to show me any pictures due to the long chain of different sales entities but after I place the order, as soon as the goods arrive at the nengun warehouse from which they will send the shipment to me they can send me photos and if my purchase differs from OEM I can immediately return it / cancel the purchase. I think I will give it a try 😉. Of course i'll let you know what's what as soon as i get them P.s. I know the topic is not relevant to the thread, but both nengun and amayama have these SICK 😍 trunk room lamps available. Do you know anyone who ordered them? I need to have one in my car
