hi have issue with bnr32 with rb26 idling at 1200. sometimes more. i know the throttle butterflys have been cleaned and suspect that being the cause ( suspect, correct me if im wrong -_- )

looking for the best way to fix it , i can pull the manifold off ( time is money ) and spray the butterflys with TOMEI butterfly sealer ( if its still avaliable )

this approach is desperate ....

f**k the police, thanks in advance

Spray brake cleaner all around where the inlet bolts to the butterflys an make sure there is no air leaks.

Check and adjust the iac valve.

Check the adjustment on the throttle butterflys.

Then if still no good remove throttles and get tomei sealer from just jap

thanks dvsjez, checked my throttle butterfly adjustments. and after alot of swearing ive adjusted them to max close. made a difference of 500 rpm ( down tone rev, not up tone which is good )

does the IAC system use a temperate sensor ( known to be an issue? ) car randomly idles high sometimes ... sits at 11,500 -1200 normal idle ( -_- ) and creeps to 1,400 or more sometimes

how do i test this ? Cheers

Usually cleaning the AAC helps, but with BNR32's it's in an absolute prick of a location. I know when I start mine it flys up to about 1300-1400 and slowly die down to ~1000-1100 after 30 seconds

The ecu uses engine temperature and controls the iac to suit.

Cold start should rev up to 1300ish and drop down slowly as moodles said.

Also as he said its an absolute prick to get to.

Have u tried brake cleaner to check for air leaks to the plenum

IAC's usually gum up... Pull it off and clean him out.

Check you tb position sensor.

If no joy, try spraying carbie cleaner around all the gasket surfaces, stock gaskets blow out often.

If still no joy, whip off the mani (4 hrs) and re- adjust the tb's via linkages.. Use a molycote product (cant think of the exact product right now) around the edges of the tb's to seal. While you have the tb's off relace the side/shaft seals as these get old and dry- thus leak.

Good luck

J.

air leak could be from boosters as the one way valves die. and suck air in.

i blew tb shaft seals and idle went to 5000rpm. so i doubt its that.

check your pcv valve as mine also leaked. block the hose off and it will soon tell you. the plenum is a f**k to get off so, be prepared to get lots of beer into u.

if your in bris come round some time and we can rip it off, as i am pro at this now. lol.

look at charcoal can also as it has vacume lines attaached.

good luck

thanks for comments

throttle butterfly are fine, tb rod adjustments are max closed and fine ( except one rod, the ball joint is alittle kinked but fine )

throttle position sensor was replaced awhile ago but should be good ... meant to be adjusted at close to 0.1 or 0.5 i forget and when rev goes to infinity apparently ... does any1 remember what its meant to be

doubt air leak but may aswell check to be safe

.......................................

car idles 1200 cold start .. after 20 or 30 minutes it creeps to 1300 sometimes 1400 if i drive it all day sometimes stays at 1400+ for a drive

think its temperature fault ? whats this AAC ? similar to IAC idle air control

Aac = auxilary air control.

Get a consult connected to test the sensors.

Set tps to .46V

Under the plenum there is the aac. Check i with a light. Using a phillips screw driver Wind the screw clockwuse to drop the idle down. Do this with the engine running

I suspect AAC valve, the one that has a 12mm (or so) hose going to it. They usually die after sometime, try blocking or pinching that hose closed and see if the idle drops.

Not sure where it sits on a RB26DETT, but on RB20/25s they sit under the plenum and connect on the side of the crossover pipe.

Hey i have the similar happening on mine but mines a rb25det

Mine idles on mostly 1200, somtimes 800 and other times 1000, its constant so not a huge problem.

when i had the standard computer it was fine, only when the power fc was installed so ive been assuming its just the computer that isnt perfect. Not sure if thats the problem in this case though.

    • Dredgggggeeee time; I have recently finally started driving the car. It sat for so long that the fuel tank gave birth to rust sludge and blocked my lift pump sock and one of my walbro 460's and left grime, rust chunks and muck all through the surge tank and system. I decided to commit and pull the trigger on an oem r32 gtr fuel tank and Frenchys twin 460 / sender / surge tank hanger combo and all new larger lines and fittings etc, also boost doc heater hose kit / new heater core and a heap of other bits and shits like wideband sensor installed in the dump and Syltech iacv + lines and all wired and added to current tune. now having lightly driven it a couple times without issue, I can happily report on the hta3076 in its current tune. still no boost control switched on, 20psi gate springs, car makes 22psi at 3200rpm in 6th gear with 30-50% TPS from cruise at 100kmh. Going by the old graph, this means it should be making 300-325whp at the same numbers above. Very very responsive setup under true road driving loads. all that's left for the build is body loom + PDM, finish the remote aircon setup, install carbon fibre parts and go for full tune and 30psi. the 315 rear tyres are now performing like they're 195's, wheel spin in any gear at almost any rpm, whereas my previous setup hooked up in 3rd no issue, albeit Nt01's back then / RB25 5spd vs (new) old date r888r's Z34 6spd now, + obviously all the support upgrades I listed in the quoted post above. car sits at 1-3psi on cruise at 100kmh, expectations totally exceeded and I'm beyond stoked with all this so far. • I've also been eyeing their rear axles for my car. I purchased seat mounts from them about 7 years ago and they were hot garbage so I've been a little wary about purchasing them. With that being said, please buy them and get back to us haha.
    • Can a moderator please move this into the right category.. I've accidently put this into racing build thread 🤦🏽‍♂️
