I just ordered myself an ecutalk for my R33 GTR.

Having just realised the size of the unit, question one where have others put

their ecutalk. (Orginally I was going to put this in my ashtray / modify my ashtray etc)

But I don't think it will fit.

Question two are these things legal.

ta Henry...

no ecu change or piggyback is legal, be it a remap, stand alone, piggyback or modification of the stock one

you would usually get pinged for it as it alters the cars emissions

But on the ecutalk you can now change fuel / ignition timings , doesn't that count towards changing

car emissions.

Paul,

I think you are refering to the cars ecu, The ecutalk is just a diplay of the OBD, I beleive it can do changes only while the ignition is on and returns when off...

Montie.

they are ever so slightly smaller than a din socket. I have mine installed below my radio but above the ashtray...

pretty cool at dispaying stats etc , just have to figure out what they all mean.. doh! oh & update the firmware as well, havnt tried that one yet...

Ps much bigger than ash tray

The unit has already paid for itself.

I got an air flow meter fault. (i have had trouble in the past) and there is the problem.

Pulled my meters out & pods too.(totally filthy & lots of oil in the meters & pipes)

I've cleaned out the meters , and currently waiting for my new pods to arrive before

I put every back in.

Montie ur shifter and shifter boot where u get it from ? i got a series 3 but the boots i seen on ebay and auto shops looks shit as urs looks genuine lol

It come with the car. (so I can't help you if your looking for one)

My skyline is a series 2.(its got the red stiching on it)

    • Yes. It's not aesthetically pleasing. And most turbos sold these days are sold for aesthetic purposes (Insta likes/fame, etc). Also its cheaper to not machine it. The hot side is the pipe with hot air in it from the turbo to the intercooler. The cold side is the pipe with cooled air in it from the IC to the engine. Anywhere after the turbo will do. Certainly before the IC is better than the IC. But there is no massive imperative to get it from the turbo scroll itself, or from no more than an inch downstream. Those are nonsense thoughts. The only thing we want is a pretty honest measurement of the pressure at the turbo outlet, and anywhere from the compressor housing itself to the inlet of the IC will read approximately the same thing. Yeah, I disagree with Tao on that one. It's fine for an engine that only runs on the dyno at full throttle (or, equivalently, a drag car that only really runs at full throttle also). But some turbos that are particularly sensitive to overspeed (ie EFRs) would quite possibly get into a lot of trouble if run that way.
    • The sarcasm should have been easily visible. It was dripping off it.
    • Whether the brakes will clear the back of the spokes comes down to the specific wheel, as well as its dimensions (ie 18x8 or whatever else size). You can have 2 different wheels of the same size and one will clear and on the other the spoke design will not clear. So your question "Anyone riding around with 18 inch. that can confirm "that it'll fit"?" cannot be answered in a meaningful way. You need that person to be using the same wheel you want to use.
