I currently own an Evo 7 (factory standard but full updated 2007 Evo 9 exterior conversion).

It has leather interior, factory GPS/DVD/TV/CD/FM-AM/MD player.

It's a great car. I love it to bits.

I also used to own an M35 Stagea which was so comfortable, luxurious and spacious but it was way too boring for me.

I've always had a crush on the 260RS.

Having the sound and performance of the RB26 coupled with the practicality and space of a station wagon is nothing short of the ultimate daily driver.

I also like the look of them too (particularly the square tailgate and the wing).

Now before i decide on trading the Evo in for a 260RS, i have a few things i need to ask;

  1. What's the average fuel consumption on a stock 260RS?
  2. Have any of you 260RS owners gotten sick of your car yet?
  3. Reliable motoring experience with the RB26 or a headache to own?
  4. Do any of you 260RS owners every wish you bought an Evo instead? (I'm being serious )

Thanks fellas

Some answers!

1. I don't know cause mine is fairly modified. But Nissans are known the be thirsty!

2. No! Its the ultimate mix of sports car and family car! Try taking the kids and missus food shopping in your 400bhp GTR or EVO...

3. What's not to love about an RB26?

4. An EVO? Are you kidding me? There is too many of them around and even more stock standard ones with crappy EVO body-kits on em. How often, if ever do you ever see an Autech 260RS Stagea on the road? thumbsup.gif

just to mix it up a bit

the rb26's are getting pretty old these days and the rb25 neo is only down about 80cc's on the 26 but has the vct and apparently the neo head flows better

so it could be worth looking at a rsfour-s (factory manual series 2)

either way, i think any stagea needs a 3 litre bottom end

fuel wise, i get nearly 10l/100km on the highway (with the neo which is supposed to be a little more efficient) and about 12-15 around town

Thanks for your answers so far fellas :)

Ah, so that's the 300rwkw one on Ebay?

I'm going to have to test drive one. I might offer my local dealer $50 for a good test drive.

I was going to buy the replica 260RS that was for sale on here last year but couldn't allocate the funds to meet the sellers price back then. Now i'm in a better position, i'd like to start looking for one. But that would mean selling the Evo (which i don't mind).

Has anyone had much issues with their 260RS?

If i'm to organise a compression test, what would be ideal results?

HAHA i knew you were going to pick up on that :P

If only i had the cash to make the M35 faster back then.

I did like the pulling power it had though. Lots of torque in stock form.

The front bar looks nice in your avatar btw.

What kind of power is it making now?

270awkw! WTF MAN! LOL

Visited my local dealer today who has a nice Series 2 260RS (link).

Got offered $15,000 for my car plus i throw in some Evo spares and i put cash towards the Stagea ($3000-$4000). Not a bad deal but the Stagea is essentially a 13 year old car so i don't know.

Going to have to have a good think about it.

I like the Stagea though.

Bog standard 260Rs will be a slug after an evo. Look around for one that has already had the money spent on it. With 350awkw you will have a fast road car good for the odd track day so long as you don't mind the more nimble evos passing you.

You would buy a C34 because you want a family hauler that can be made to fly - practical transport and a hobby all in one!

Because you could never do that with an M35... :whistling:

Why the wagon? Not happy with the Evo or need a family car?

I was just going by this (almost) stock engine (just goes to show what a tunable ecu will do):

well i can only give you a baseline atm.

this is:

R32 GTR

stock turbos

stock dumps, fronts, stock IC

3 inch exhaust

cam gears (on stock cams)

14psi boost using trust profec B spec II

Power FC (tuned by Hitman)

Apexi power intake kit

it made 253 rwkw, but i had them fiddle a little bit more for a slightly fatter midrange, ending up with 247. I thought that was pretty good going for just cat back exhaust, pods, 1 bar and a PFC + cam gears. But it's no where near enough these days :D

that one one ebay is the one pictured and is my old car

it is an absolutely immaculate car and has been very well cared for and barly driven by gus, the current owner.

if i were you i would have a good chat to him and pick his very very knowledgeable brain about the car.

    • Started sifting thru my brakes to decide which ones I will run on Clem   Made me think I should just put them all on Silver...for when brake fade just isn't an option   Should be able to bump rotor up from 343x32 to 348x36 off Supra. Not sure if the Supra annulus is right for the Alcons or APs but trying g to find a used Supra\M4 rotor to test fit The Alcons seem to gain 1-2mm clearance which all helps
    • So car is getting a few mods to the cage and some jacking points welded in Meantime Ol Silver gets a new gearbox and shiny clutch.  Old Box is being set aside for Clem
    • Probably speedometer itself if the odometer is ticking. If the needle is stuck from a bit of grease or something that can cause it to stay at 0. Or a cracked solder joint in the speedometer can do it too.
    • Thanks Fella’s   to take this off topic and to elaborate a bit more. I have an rb25/30 going into a r32 GTST.. expected to make around 600-700hp. Would you?   A) R34 GTT box   B) CD00#?  I’ve seen a few posts about the CD swap and sounds fairly involved with making it fit etc but if it’s worth the work then I’ll go that way
    • Lower at the hubs. Funny I forgot to mention that part. Do this pull here I turned the camera off too soon but the graph shows a drop at the top and that was because the pipe from the turbo blew off. The tuner said we could’ve made possibly another 15 whp. He also added if I switched to ethanol we could up the boost some more as well. I was comfortable capping it at the most of 20 pounds. Turns out the turbo pipe just needed a new worm clamp. Got home replaced that then did a third gear pull from 3k to 7200 rpm and the power was great to the top. I just got an ecu mounting bracket from IEE that I need to try and get everything to fit well. It’s a PITA to get the harness and ecu fit properly behind that kick plate
